  1. QUOTE (tommy @ Nov 5, 2009 -> 10:36 PM) I mentioned Figgins earlier but was told 'sign Pujols and Utley' while at it.. I like Figgins/Hudson to cover the infield, but if we signed Hudson who would be much cheaper than Chone, I'd still like to somehow bring Ellsbury to be the leadoff guy. EDIT; how frustrating it must be for the involved parties that this is still a rumor, it's like Peavy to the Sox version 1 all over again. Come on, you should know that Big Sqwert is a joker, that wasnt serious. Just read his posts in green. Or pretend that his avatar is saying it. Both should make you laugh
  2. Epic Mickey looks like its gonna be fun
  3. QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ Nov 6, 2009 -> 06:39 AM) Any confirmation yet? Nope, mum is the word.
  4. the Cavs had all but the last call of the game go their way, so I can see why LeBron was surprised at the end. It was good D though, Noah didnt really initiate contact with LeBron, and LeBron had already lost the ball when the contact occured. If Deng can stay healthy this year, he might just have a huge year, he looks like a man on a mission.
  5. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Nov 5, 2009 -> 09:53 PM) So does that mean Lincecum gets a 50 game suspension to start 2010? for some reason I think marijuana suspensions arent as bad as PED suspensions, i thought i read that somewhere
  6. QUOTE (nitetrain8601 @ Nov 5, 2009 -> 08:16 PM) With that type of hair, he had to be. for me it wasnt the hair, it was the look. Plus, last year when he won his cy young award he looked RIPPED at his press conference.
  7. UCF better hope that Nike comes in and saves the day. This isnt just basketball, Adidas clothed and shoed every sport at the university
  8. Tim Lincecum was busted with 3.3 grams of marijuana in his car. In other news, the sun came up today
  9. Sadly, this may become a paranoia filled witchhunt.
  10. QUOTE (bschmaranz @ Nov 5, 2009 -> 06:17 PM) Mark Gonzalez said on CTL that the moving of Callaspo could be why it's not done yet. I apologize if someone had already mentioned, I'm lazy today as in, Callaspo is supposed to be part of the deal and the Royals are hesitating? Or is Callaspo supposed to be moved elsewhere?
  11. QUOTE (SoxFan562004 @ Nov 5, 2009 -> 02:11 PM) for a guy that size and getting into at that age, his ground work was impressive, he needs to improve his "black mummy" stand-up some though. he went from in trouble to that arm bar in like .001 seconds. I mean, his hips swiveled just a bit and Wissell was done. and if Wissell didnt severely dislocate that shoulder I am amazed. his whole shoulder blade looked like it was pulled down
  12. QUOTE (PlunketChris @ Nov 5, 2009 -> 06:03 PM) So.. is this deal actually happening or was everyone jumping the gun on a strong rumor? still a rumor
  13. why couldnt his name of been John Smith
  14. QUOTE (qwerty @ Nov 5, 2009 -> 05:24 PM) I shook my head at that last statement of his. Talk about flip flopping. It was a well crafted rebuttal that I should have written in response to his previous post, lol.
  15. QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ Nov 5, 2009 -> 05:05 PM) Throw out the college stats, i'm not interested in metal bat fueled numbers. Getz's career minor league OBP is .362. Over two years in AA Getz put up .326 and .382 , In AAA .366. Averaging out Getz's OBP is the upper levels of the system we put his OBP around .350. Now, Getz put up a .324 OPB in the majors ,after dealing with a broken wrist which could just sap him of a lot of his strength and quickness. Now, given Getzs' complete lack of pop it's likely he will be pitched too rather then around. Allowing for major league improvement and an approach rather then a match of his minor league numbers, i'd suggest that .340 is very possible, if not probable. um what? are you now saying that Getz is likely to have an OBP of .340?
  16. I think the Blue Jays are going to pull out the red carpet for Bay. They need to generate some interest, bringing in a native son who is also a pretty damn good player would go a long ways towards that. But Balta you are right, the BoSox and possibly the Yankees(depending on what happens with Holliday) are probably going to make a pretty strong pass at Bay
  17. QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ Nov 5, 2009 -> 04:41 PM) I know we've done this before, and the deadh horse is really starting to stink, right now, but i'll always contend that there's nothing in Getzs' major and minor league track record that says he'll ever have an OBP above .340. His trends suggest this. I alos don't see the solid D, or .300 or for that matter. I could see a consistent .280 not being out of the realm of chance. I do agree with you on his base-running and speed, but i don't think that outweights his deficiencies as a player since you keep pulling the whip out http://www.thebaseballcube.com/Players/G/Chris-Getz.shtml There are two years in his entire career including college that he had an OBP under .340, so your track record talk is a bit of nonsense crap, now that I look at it, Nix was all over the place http://www.thebaseballcube.com/players/N/Jayson-Nix.shtml
  18. QUOTE (SoxFan1 @ Nov 5, 2009 -> 04:31 PM) i dunno man, one minute he wants my account suspended, the next he wants me to speak my mind.
  19. QUOTE (Jerksticks @ Nov 5, 2009 -> 03:57 PM) For all the people saying something like, "Let's wait til the end of the offseason to decide if we have holes", can the Mods please suspend their accounts until ST starts? Please? It will help to filter out garbage posts in long threads like these. What if the person making the statement is, in fact, a mod. And what if the statement he is responding to is, in fact, overreactionary?
  20. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Nov 5, 2009 -> 02:59 PM) Oh yeah, so no backup SS unless we use Nix. You could really rearrange things and move Beckham to SS if things get drastic
  21. QUOTE (Leonard Zelig @ Nov 5, 2009 -> 02:44 PM) Has this been confirmed? by everyone but the Royals and the White Sox, lol
  22. did anyone catch Marcus Jones almost rip Mike Wessells arm off last night on TUF? That was UGLY
  23. Kyyle23 replied to juddling's topic in SLaM
QUOTE (LosMediasBlancas @ Nov 5, 2009 -> 01:48 PM) Seems like a really slow time for movies at theaters right now. Now through about march is usually the family fare movietime, which means more crap. you get a good movie about 1 out of every 7 it seems
  24. LMAO http://www.sportsbybrooks.com/yankee-stadi...-tomorrow-26827
  25. QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ Nov 5, 2009 -> 12:17 PM) That was my thought too. Teahen had a heck of a lot draft hype. him and buck were the centerpieces of the Beltran deal, werent they? That didnt really work out for the Royals
