  2. They have to work Bale today. He was all over the place yesterday, this is a guy they can get to if they make him work
  3. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ May 31, 2009 -> 03:37 PM) He's actually not that far off from last year. He's gotten terrible run support. HESAFLUKEITELLYA!
  4. Kennedy posted a video today where he is flexing his wrists showing that he is fine, he is claiming he is 100 percent healthy
  5. QUOTE (Rowand44 @ May 31, 2009 -> 03:12 PM) Hell, I think this is the first time since I've been in Carbondale that the Sox have had 2 games in a row on WGN. So I said I could post. you should be at the cellar eating peanuts and drinking 1.50 drafts and watching this game. Possibly playing shuffleboard too
  6. QUOTE (sin city sox fan @ May 31, 2009 -> 03:11 PM) Not that I'm saying it should be done....but you can make an argument that Dotel should be our closer. He's pitching that good this year. Dotel has done it before, I wouldnt mind if he stepped in for Bobby here and there. He certainly has the stuff and the guts to do it
  7. QUOTE (Rowand44 @ May 31, 2009 -> 03:09 PM) Dotel is just f***in money with a runner on 3rd and less than 2 outs. hey, who are you? who said you could post here?
  8. QUOTE (wilmot825 @ May 31, 2009 -> 02:56 PM) POINT TAKEN....sry Im not saying the subject is not worth discussion, i was just poking fun at your closing line, no need to apologize
  9. QUOTE (BearSox @ May 31, 2009 -> 02:50 PM) Lol, their situations aren't even close to being similar. When Greinke first came up in 04, he had a very solid rookie season. ERA below 4, 8-11 W-L, but solid periphials. Plus, he had dominating stuff. He also dominated in the minors. However, in 05 and 06, Greinke had his mental problems with depression and such, and that really set him back. He came back in 07 in a relief role, and really did good and eventually started 14 games. In 2008, he finally began to break out and became a top of the line starter for the Royals. Now, he is completely broken out, and at the age of 25, he's been the best pitcher in baseball for over 1/4 of the season. If Greinke didn't have those other problems, we could have began to see this pitcher 2 years ago! Cliff Lee on the other was 30 last year, and before that he was mediocre. He has good but not great minor league numbers, and before 08, he was just a decent pitcher. In fact, in 07 he was god awful and even got sent down at one point. All of a sudden, when he turns 30, he finally finds it and becomes a cy young type pitcher? It was most definitely a fluke year. He's decent, but no stud ace, Cy Young caliber pitcher. so in summary, before both of their breakout years, they were both mediocre, they both went away from the majors for a similar amount of time(Greinke for head problems, Lee for inneffectiveness), and both of them had breakout years(although Greinkes isnt finished yet and Lee has a Cy Young on his mantle), and the only real difference is their age You are right, nothing similar Oh oh oh, I get it, you saw the stuff they have so you know
  10. QUOTE (wilmot825 @ May 31, 2009 -> 02:41 PM) If Josh Fields can't handle the hot corner, which he really cannot do, who is the better option at third? Would you rather see Slayer Beckham come up and play third base, eventhough it is not his natural position? Or do the Sox bring up the 20 year old wonder Dayan who just raised his batting average to .270? The trade off for each one is that Beckham is a good bat but is going to be out of position, while Dayan is a natural third baseman but has had his struggles in Double A. I want the (un)Becks up with the big club but I do see the value of bringing up Dayan instead. Does this post serve any real purpose and does there need to be consideration between the two players? LOL, this should really be the first thing that goes through your mind before you hit submit, not the last thing that you type and then hit submit
  11. QUOTE (SoxFan562004 @ May 29, 2009 -> 06:50 PM) and one of my old law school professors is Casey Anthony's new defense attorney. I feel bad that he has to deal with that crazy broad. She doesnt seem like she is ready to admit what she did any time in the near future
  12. QUOTE (BearSox @ May 31, 2009 -> 12:30 PM) What do you mean this year's Cliff Lee? Cliff Lee was a fluke. Greinke, on the other hand, is for real and has the stuff to prove it. And what makes you say that with 100 percent certainty? The comparison is very valid, Greinke has been doing pretty much nothing until this year, and he finally put it together with his talent, which is exactly what happened with Lee last year. Lee was a very highly touted prospect, he isnt some out-of-nowhere scrub who had a nice year.
  13. QUOTE (fathom @ May 31, 2009 -> 02:10 PM) Yes, we're ripping because he's looked terrible this season from basically his 4th start on. His mechanics are totally screwed, and after that start in Anaheim, I think we were hopeful he would start to improve upon them. wow, and he has had what, 10 starts? close the book, its done right? You know what, this argument isnt worth it with you. Have a nice day
  14. QUOTE (fathom @ May 31, 2009 -> 02:07 PM) Yes, and did anyone say "Danks is terrible and he should be demoted/released/traded for McCarthy". dont fall back on this crap, all you guys did was rip him for 2 straight pages This thread reminds me constantly why I love the chat so much, its a damn shame I cant access it while at work and I have to read the nonsense instead.
  15. QUOTE (TitoMB345 @ May 31, 2009 -> 12:46 PM) I fully disagree, as this is definitely not a Sunday lineup. And Wise is horrible, horrible, horrible. He belongs nowhere near the ML roster. Yeah, I got it the first two times you said it. Its ridiculous, give it a rest already. BA had a tough last couple of days and is getting a rest Wise is sure to spread the plague soon after the game
  16. QUOTE (rangercal @ May 31, 2009 -> 12:43 PM) You make very valid points. lol
  17. Do we really have to go through all of this Wise grief already? The guy was just recalled, he hasnt even seen the field but a couple of times, and people are already calling him out. He isnt replacing Quentin, he isnt replacing Dye, he is not replacing BA, he is in the Sunday lineup.
  18. QUOTE (MHizzle85 @ May 31, 2009 -> 11:49 AM) OHHHHHH NOOOOOOOOOO!!!!1!!! Lebron's human!?!?!? That can't be!?!?!? He's 24, so what if he made some decisions that you guys don't disagree with. You all sound like he's slept with your girlfriends/wives. Those rumors dont usually start until a player has their first major FA contract
  19. i cant even remember the last time PA posted. Happy B day regardless
  20. QUOTE (Jimmywins1 @ May 31, 2009 -> 11:41 AM) Oswalt's stuff is still there, he's averaging 93.4 mph on his fastball this year, which is up from 92.6 last year (just for comparison, Peavy has averaged 91.9 this year). It's been speculated that he may want a change of scenery, I think Roy is a good possibility to come to the South Side. http://www.chicagotribune.com/sports/chi-3...0,5855936.story Am I imagining things, or does it seem like Cecil Cooper gets under the skin of a lot of his players? I cannot recall which player it was before, but i seem to recall this sort of thing happening last year too
  21. So nobody has photoshopped a "Witness" ad yet? I expected it immediately after the game was over
  22. Ben Wallace hinting at retirement Not an english major here, but im pretty sure that should be "cited"
  23. We all expect a sunday lineup and a maybe grumbling and some hat tippin' after the game towards Greinke, I say lets watch the Sox become an abberation on Greinke's otherwise spectacular year.
