  1. QUOTE (MO2005 @ Nov 20, 2008 -> 12:50 PM) Seriously why do people have to be a**es on here sometimes. So what if it was posted before! Is this the part where I tell YOU to have another krispy kreme and to check the lot for carts?
  2. QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Nov 20, 2008 -> 11:49 AM) I still don't have a facebook and I'm proud of that fact. Someone is hiding from a girl......
  3. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Nov 20, 2008 -> 12:07 PM) http://www.soxtalk.com/forums/index.php?s=...t&p=1796615 Was the green really necessary?
  4. I cant believe nobody ever thought of this. Sign me up
  5. QUOTE (Steff @ Nov 20, 2008 -> 09:08 AM) So I'm on Facebook for months now - so my sister and family in Florida can see updated pictures of Bri mainly - and all of a sudden it seems my entire senior class from HS has now joined. I've stayed friends with (and by friends I mean emailed but saw in person maybe twice over the past 10 years) a couple, and in the past 3 months reconnected with several others who I now see weekly.... anyhoo.... there are some folks that I had no interest in dealing with back then and definitely want no part of now, but yet they are "friending" me...? Isn't that weird? I definitely wouldn't "friend" someone I didn't talk to back then. It's been over 15 years!!! And it's not like they have to friend me to see picture of Bri since my profile is public. Very odd. In the last month my friend list jumped from like 30 people to over 120, and it has mostly been high school friends and acquaintances, and a few from middle school. Its been strange to say the least. I have "friended" a few people whose name I remember, but I cannot place the face to save my life
  6. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Nov 20, 2008 -> 07:48 AM) I know there was a lot of Skiles hate, but he got every drop out of this team he could until they quit on him, and started play the individual ball that has them at the place they are today. As individuals, this team sucks. They have got to work as a team and out hustle teams. These guys are going no where but back to the lottery as they are set up now. Maybe this year they can get a big man. I think zenryan was being sarcastic without the green. At least thats how I took it. I was pretty disappointed in the way Skiles went out, the team collectively quit on him. Many people say its a coaches job to get the team to play for him, but I think the Kobe distraction and the money issues, plus Wallace being disruptive in the locker room was more than a small factor in the way the team quit.
  7. QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ Nov 19, 2008 -> 03:42 PM) I’d be lying if I said no, wouldn’t i? But this isn't the case. Reinsdorf's pockets have limits, the Yankees have none. This isn’t a jealousy thing, though I suppose there is some resentment involved. I just dislike the whole corporate mentality that surrounds The Yankees Organization. The notion that everybody hates a Steinbrenner until they have one has some truth behind it, that being said; I’m more than happy to root for a team that has to rely on other things then money. Like judgment, risk, and more than a little luck. You just asked what fun it would be to root for a team that has no limits, but if the White Sox had no limits I would be bragging about being out there in the bidding for the top 3 pitchers in the market just like every Yankee fan. It is slightly a jealousy thing for all of us. I mean, as much as I hate to admit it, the Yankees have been a consistent powerhouse for more than a century, and they have always spent like it. I would love to root for a team that could make those title claims and watch them spend like that But there is no way in hell I would root for the Yankees
  8. QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ Nov 19, 2008 -> 03:28 PM) I can’t understand why anyone would ever want to root for a team that can just go out and buy all the talent. There’ no competitive spirit, no underdog mentality, it’s just we have the money, and we’re gonna put it to good use. So if Reinsdorf had that mentality, you wouldnt be a fan?
  9. QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ Nov 19, 2008 -> 12:13 PM) I know i don't like it much either, but it's totally an Ozzie thing to do. Assuming we've got the guys we've got now. I'm seeing BA AJ Q Dye Thome Konerko Ramirez Fields Nix Logically, it's a bad move. BA and Aj are not top of the order hitters, but who else goes up there? Ramirez, maybe, but Ozzie seems to like him down. I think we'd be forcing his hand here. Im sorry, that is the Anti-Ozzie thing to do. Ozzie has a thing for BA on the bench, thats about all.
  10. QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ Nov 19, 2008 -> 12:03 PM) Assuming a deal doesn't go through, where we get a name Cf with decent speed, i have Anderson slotted in as our leadoff man next year. You go with your bad self And that aint happenin'
  11. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Nov 19, 2008 -> 11:00 AM) If you haven't seen them, a few of Billy Wilder's classics are about as good as film can get. Stalag 17 Sunset Boulevard Double Indemnity The Apartment I thoroughly enjoy all of the above, and of couse "Some Like It Hot" is quite good, and probably Wilder's most famous. Is this the movie with Simon Baker from the show "The Mentalist"? edit: N/M, that was Sunset Strip
  12. Steve made me think about it the other day, Outside Providence Also, I could do a Godzilla/Gamera marathon at any time
  13. Ha, the Yankees dont really chase anyone. They say "Here is all of this money. You can have this, or take less somewhere else." It tends to work more often than not
  14. These lists are always a disappointment because they are impossible to please everyone. I agree Brad Delp, Peter Gabriel, and Dio need to be on the list as well. I have different tastes, but I still think that Maynard James Keenan has a really unique voice as well and I wouldnt have minded seeing him on the list as well, but I would be surprised if anyone agreed with that
  15. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Nov 18, 2008 -> 04:17 PM) ex-f*ckin-zactly And Carl Everett didn't believe in dinosaurs AND he was the starting DH for the 2005 World Champion Chicago White Sox. He will never be forgotten. Crazy Carl... I loved that f***. lol, I thought of the movie "Outside Providence" after reading this(the funeral for Drugs)
  16. QUOTE (Jeremy @ Nov 18, 2008 -> 02:15 PM) Thankfully, when I think of that team, I'm overwhelmed with these positive memories, not the thought of Everett ambling around in CF and performing unspectacularly at the plate. Thats because for the most part Rowand was the center fielder, and Everett was the DH all year long. In fact, I can hardly recall Everett playing CF at all, especially with BA emerging late in the year
  17. http://screenrant.com/images-star-trek-mov...tails-vic-4289/ A neat breakdown of new things in the movie seen in the trailer.
  18. QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Nov 18, 2008 -> 10:51 AM) Disagree: http://www.splitting-images.com/mr_spock.html Um, thanks? Was that supposed to be a better spock?
  19. QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Nov 18, 2008 -> 10:34 AM) I think it looks aight, but I hate that they used "Sylar" from Heroes. The whole time I'm watching that trailer I'm thinking, "hey! it's that dude that plays Sylar.....he looks weird." That's going to ruin it for me. They should have found someone who isn't well known. I dont think they could have used anyone else, Sylar is Spocks younger Twin, there is no way around that
  20. Why is Affeldt even mentioned? He signed with the Giants yesterday
  21. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Nov 17, 2008 -> 08:04 PM) The last movie was in 2002, and Enterprise left the air in May of 2005. So there will have been roughly a 4 year gap by the time this movie comes out. But not 5 years I think its pretty good that there will be 7 years between movies, and the movies will have no connection with each other.
  22. QUOTE (Athomeboy_2000 @ Nov 17, 2008 -> 06:15 PM) I think Star Trek would do a wonder of good to take about 5 years off. Chill out, then come back and do a series of movies. Ditch TV for right now. I think they could be a very successful movie franchise if they just chill out for a while. As in no TV and no Movies for 5 years? No way, wouldnt happen.
  23. QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Nov 17, 2008 -> 04:24 PM) Great movie. Its actually one of my favorites, the spoof on Star Trek is great, Tim Allen really did a great Shatner impersonation. And again, as annoying as Justin Long is, everytime he is on the screen he steals it. I think the Star Trek reboot is going to be a good one, the preview looks pretty awesome.
  24. QUOTE (whitesoxbrian @ Nov 17, 2008 -> 03:40 PM) Duke looked like a** yesterday. Wow, that was brutal. yeah you would have thought they would just destroy Rhode Island, huh?
