Braves refuse to deal with agent

QUOTE (LosMediasBlancas @ Dec 22, 2008 -> 01:35 PM) Yeah, it seems to me that a 'scene' would need it's own signature sound. I saw tons of Ska out of St Louis in the late 90's. More than I could handle, they loved that stuff at SIU(particularly the Urge, with good reason)

Scott Erickson planning a comeback
QUOTE (SouthsideDon48 @ Dec 22, 2008 -> 12:36 PM) 159th and Harlem. Hmmmm, I hope you're not insinuating that black and mexican girls are streetwalkers or something. :-\ No, you insinuated that girls like Podsedniks wife are seen walking down the street every day. I would like to know what street that is, just in case. I like to weed out the "ugly white chick" streets in favor of the "holy cow model hot white chicks" streets

QUOTE (SouthsideDon48 @ Dec 22, 2008 -> 12:13 PM) I dunno, Pods' girl looks plain, she looks like every other blonde girl that you see walking down the street. ...Then again, I'm a white guy that only dates black and mexican girls. What streets do you walk on everyday?

Has anyone read up on Sly Stallones upcoming movie "The Expendables"? It should be fun, Dolph Lundgren, Sly, Jason Statham, Jet Li, all soldiers hired on for jobs that deem them expendable(ha, see how that works?) Van Damme said he didnt want to do it because he wouldnt get the most face time

QUOTE (Flash Tizzle @ Dec 22, 2008 -> 09:58 AM) It's amazing to me when I look at Arnold's movie catalog and compare him to his modern day equilavent, Will Smith. Arnold annihilates him. There probably won't be another person like Arnold, whom was involved with so many quality (IMO) action films. On the issue of financial draw of course Smith wins; but look through his IMDB page. Even with ID, MIB, Enemy of the State (movies I enjoyed him in) his career seems to be overstated. Whoever said it earlier in this thread was right, he hasn't done anything worth a damn in awhile. He's obviously trying to grab himself an oscar before it's all said and done. He has tried the oscar grab a few times. Ali, 6 degrees of seperation, Happyness, 7 lbs, thats nothing new to WS. Arnold, Sly, Van Damme all kill WS in the action movie categories. Arnold was just handed goldmine after goldmine script, his run in the 80's was amazing. I like to give Sly a little more credit because he actually wrote a good portion of the movies he starred in, which to me is pretty impressive. Van Damme was just fun to watch, although the splits trick got old

QUOTE (The Critic @ Dec 22, 2008 -> 09:55 AM) I never had a pleasant shopping experience at a Circuit City. Bad layout, disinterested staff, insufficient stock of sale items. It's no wonder they got thoroughly thrashed by Best Buy. Im wondering who is going to rise up to challenge Best Buy in the next year or so. Fry's? Radioshack? Nobody?

Video Game Catch-All Thread
QUOTE (BobDylan @ Dec 19, 2008 -> 03:53 AM) I doubt they will. They're following the same strategy they always have. For once, it's working and they're dominating the field. The only thing they have to worry about is whether Sony pulls their heads from their asses and drops the price of the PS3 and starts marketing that it's a gaming system, not just a bluray player--which even then, I doubt is enough for Sony to get back on top. The Wii is a marvel to the masses, and as much as I think it's a trash system, Sony nor Microsoft have what it takes in their current systems to overtake it. Though, the best thing to come from the Wii is proof that gaming isn't about graphics, it's about gameplay. But even so, the Wii simply isn't built to harbor "deep" games. See this is what I am talking about in regards to coming out with games in 2009 that havent been typical for the Wii http://wii.ign.com/articles/936/936938p7.html There is plenty in there to be excited about that isnt Petz and DDR and crap like that. And in the IGN year end review, they definitely take Nintendo to task for dragging their feet in 2008, but at the same time point out that they really didnt need to do anything given the success of the major releases of the year(MarioKart, Wii Fit, Smash Bros, Okami)

QUOTE (bmags @ Dec 21, 2008 -> 11:45 AM) So did Peanut all the sudden move to the underrated Minnesota scene to "feel" it. Its not like Minnesota is the base and these bands rarely travel, they aren't Jon Brion with LA, the only difference between Minnesota and USA for these bands is Minneapolis will get 3 or 4 shows instead of 1. Its not as if we are talking bands so small they are reduced to playing one club in NY, all of these travel. Propping up a city for producing a few bands isn't that necessary. Omaha wasn't any better or worse of a town when that saddle creek mirage began, williamstown wasn't a harlem rennaisance because of TVOTR and fiery furnaces. For DJ scenes, there is more teeth to it, but elsewise it's all antiquated. At the same time, did Peanut flip on his computer so that he could "feel" it? Sometimes being in the right place at the right time alters the way a musician plays a certain tune, a certain chord, a certain melody so much that it becomes identifiable by the artist playing it. Minnesota is a little more indentifiable by its music scene than Omaha, even though Omaha has quite a great history itself. I dont know, I understand what you are saying but at the same time you are understating the value of a scene to a musician and simplifying the situation.

QUOTE (bmags @ Dec 21, 2008 -> 11:23 AM) tours. you can simplify it all you want. Some people dont "feel" music until they see it a certain way. Sometimes its hanging around a scene, sometimes its through napster, sometimes its a blatant ripoff of an artist they like.
