2008 Flying Under the Radar
I remember being so excited for that show, then being soooooooooo disappointed that the characters werent even voiced by Bo, Michael, and Wayne. I stopped watching it after that

QUOTE(longshot7 @ Jan 8, 2008 -> 02:59 PM) that Diva segment was sooooooooooooooo dumb. what a freaking waste. At least, use the roulette wheel to give us something good. Hardy/Umaga shouldn't have been the only good thing last night. I like where they are going with William Regal's character

Konerko to the Angels?
QUOTE(The Beast @ Jan 8, 2008 -> 02:41 PM) That would be a HORRIBLE idea, putting Dye at first base. Have you seen him play in the outfield? When a ball is hit to his left, he is the slowest person to get it, and I doubt he can even throw a runner out anymore. Ugh, I'd rather put a mule in right field than put JD out there every day. He's a DH at best to me at this point. I just say keep Kong, and trade the "fat" of this team, such as Uribe and Crede. Sign a pitcher and then sign us up for the season. We'd be set. Wait a second, so we cannot play him at first OR in Right Field?

QUOTE(Alpha Dog @ Jan 8, 2008 -> 02:08 PM) Yes. I have had several games of Diplomacy that went of for quite a long time. I have a friend who will never play that game with me ever again. LOL, i know people like that

Catch-All Anything Thread
Last week I introduced my Mom and Stepdad to Jenga, and we had a blast playing it with his parents and my daughter. Risk is such a fun game if you have the friends that: 1. have the time to play, and 2. Dont need to be taught how to play. Thankfully my friends fall into both categories. Balderdash is a favorite of mine as well

Oh, that Britney's shameless...
QUOTE(Steff @ Jan 8, 2008 -> 01:23 PM) More importantly, how soon until she hurts someone else. Hopefully she is stopped before that happens. At least she cannot hurt the little ones for the time being.

Konerko to the Angels?
QUOTE(GreenSox @ Jan 8, 2008 -> 01:16 PM) I meant the Sox played Fields in LF last year. And he's not a good fielder at 3B. But thank you for your input. We'll see what sort of a contract a mediocre hitting 3B gets. Boras has plenty of "mediocre" talent to represent, and he is very good at getting them paid

QUOTE(YASNY @ Jan 8, 2008 -> 11:47 AM) We, as a nation, spend way too much time focusing on these pop tarts and not enough on important issues. Like the Sox. Well you, as mods, put this SLAM forum up so that we, as posters, could discuss these pop tarts and not litter the Palehose forum with it. I agree with you by the way, but I cant stop staring at trainwrecks

Britney is out and about again, starbucks, gas stations, hotels, convenience stores. How long until she seriously hurts herself?

QUOTE(The Critic @ Jan 8, 2008 -> 09:16 AM) I know!! Maybe Hornswoggle hid in Carlito's hair and held the wig in place! I hate to admit it, but Hornswoggle actually has grown on me a little bit. I used to hate seeing him come down the ramp, but it actually makes me laugh sometimes now

Music Thread
QUOTE(The Critic @ Jan 8, 2008 -> 08:10 AM) I hear ya - I still have a lot of pre-Black Album Metallica on the iPod, and when the shuffle hits it, I like to hear that stuff again. I don't go seeking it out, though. You couldn't pry their cassettes out of the boombox back in the Mullet Era, but now their CDs have 3 inches of dust on them. I don't know Lupe Fiasco, so I can't say if he (or she, or they) is THE s***, or just s***. Working at a Southern Illinois mainstream rock station completely ruined Metallica for me, i cant even listen to their old stuff anymore. Couple that with my distaste for Lars after the Napster fiasco which coincided with my employment at the station, they just became unlistenable for me. I understand their place in music and respect their accomplishments, im just not a fan anymore.

QUOTE(The Critic @ Jan 8, 2008 -> 08:12 AM) Bob Holly came pretty damn close to being entertaining last night - he fell just short of it, but he came closer than he ever has for me. I thought Carlito was even better with his "wig". I have no idea how he kept that on his head though

American Gladiators
The show will get better when it gets its feet under it. Right now they are just going for the ratings and pops from the crowd, so everything is overly dramatic and forced. Anyone notice Big Country waiting for Adonis to catch up, and purposefully dropping the rope on the down-ramp? I wasnt a fan of it. And what the heck, how can they underuse Helga? That girl should be on most of the events

QUOTE(iamshack @ Jan 7, 2008 -> 05:13 PM) Wow, you're a tough one to please... Sorry, its more the person than the actual body. She annoys me so much I find her unattractive Im still pissed at her hackjob in Batman Begins. She is the one character i would love to just edit out and leave a blank spot

2008 Flying Under the Radar
QUOTE(Steve9347 @ Jan 7, 2008 -> 01:46 PM) Exactly what makes it so awesome. The questionable moment was when the black chick was like 15 seconds ahead of that little girl who won and yelled that crap and was just laying on the reverse treadmill hanging onto the top with no effort to get up. But she could have just been exhausted. Thats exactly the questionable moment I was talking about too. I guess exhaustion could be a reason as well. Who is the actual PxP/announcer for the show? I know his voice, i just cannot remember his name

Who likes the Swisher trade?
QUOTE(Jeremy @ Jan 7, 2008 -> 01:40 PM) In my experience very few. Because I complained about that trade, I was bullied and eventually banned from the White Sox message board I used to post on.Yeah, that one was less popular. I think a lot of that had to do with the team already having five SP's though and the fact that Javy was coming off a bad year in NY. My point is that such an absolute position is untenable and hence it's alarming that a number of people are taking it. Such an argument advocates trading King Felix or Jake Peavy as minor leaguers if they were in our system because "White Sox pitching prospects never work out," and that scares me. I'm sure a lot of White Sox fans feel that way due to the number of disappointments over the years but I'm skeptical that high caliber prospects in our system develop less often than equivalent prospects in other teams' systems. I don't think you can win without successfully integrating players from your minor league system into the major league club, not without a massive payroll at least. Just out of curiosity, did you get banned on that website for broadbrushing white sox fans there like you do here?

2008 Flying Under the Radar
QUOTE(Steve9347 @ Jan 7, 2008 -> 01:26 PM) We've got a big thread on this... It's sports, but only because I believe what is happening is truly happening and nothing is rigged... though a few things were questionable last night. I thought it was funny when the girls competition ended, after the winner went through the blocks the loser kept making a fake effort to climb the ramp and falling down as if it was too incredibly difficult. Then the winner with her "Im in so much pain but SO HAPPY TO BE HERE TONITE" it was supreme cheese

Cannibalism in Texas
QUOTE(knightni @ Jan 7, 2008 -> 12:11 PM) He thinks so I bet. From what I read there, he kidnapped the girlfriend, goes to his ex-wife's home, stabs his ex's new man, gets in a fight with the gf afterwards, injures and kills her, possibly on accident. He freaks out, decides that if the cops think he's crazy, he won't be given the death penalty. He goes home with the gf, carves her up, starts cooking her a little, plants a fork in her to make it look like he's going to eat her, and calls the cops on himself. (Dahmer never would have called the cops) he also called the cops after he told his own mother and she freaked out and left, so maybe he just figured he would save the police chase and tell on himself. Either way, it is one screwed up case

QUOTE(Steve9347 @ Jan 7, 2008 -> 11:51 AM) Maybe this can be pinned for all of us that are gracious for this Website. I have, for the last three + years, used Soxtalk as a place to talk White Sox, all sports, entertainment, and a few other things. Recently, I've even dabbled in asking soxtalk for health info and other things, and I realized that this is a really expansive site with folks you can trust. However, unlike other sites, I know that this one will be correctly policed so things don't get out of hand and annoying like many Websites do... so for all y'alls who police the site, have lended your creativity and ideas, your money, all of it... what the hell? I thank you. Soxtalk needs a "real men of genius" commercials for their own. Series And I wholeheartedly agree with everything Steve said. this place is more or less my social hub. i have learned so much here since I have become a member it is ridiculous. the speed of media is amazing on this site, i usually find things out hours(sometimes days) before they are widely reported
