i dont know if i am the only one that noticed this, but i have noticed a very big population of Cubs fans who just expected the World Series for the Cubs as soon as they made the playoffs. No Divisional Series, No Championship series, pass Go and head straight to the World Series. I had a couple co-workers bragging about going to the World Series, and all i could think about when the Sox made the playoffs was "One game at a time.". to tell you the truth, it kind of seems like the team bought into that mindset as well, because they look like they are going through the motions (Aramis "Rodrigo" Ramirez anyone?)

LOL, sometimes Steve Rosenblooms nails it on his blog The Choice (and remember, death is not an option): The Cubs trying to lay down sacrifice bunts or Alfonso Soriano trying to hit curveballs?

QUOTE(Jordan4life_2007 @ Oct 5, 2007 -> 01:07 AM) No surprise tonight. The Cubs just aren't that good. They were the tallest midget in a horrific division. Everybody knew (except fathom) that they would be exposed. And are the D-backs fun to watch or what? Their farm system has come through quite well for them the last few years. Well, maybe everyone on this site. The ESPN "experts" all fell in line picking the cubs outside of two of them http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/playoffs2007...s?series=chcari but more SI "experts" picked the D-backs than picked the Cubs http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/si_blogs/...taff-picks.html

Sorianos pitch selection is .........special.

What happened to the site?

sort of a trivia question, i dont know if any of you would know the answer: Is this the first time that 4 teams have made the playoffs that were not in the playoffs the previous year(since the wildcard expansion)? I cant remember if this is unique or not, the braves were in the playoffs for something like 15 straight years, so it would have been relatively recent if it ever happened

Aramis Ramirez looked to me like he tried to jack an opposite field shot everytime he was up to bat.

over/under on how many pitches Soriano sees throughout the entire game?

Brandon Webbs stuff is filthy

QUOTE(Greg The Bull Luzinski @ Oct 3, 2007 -> 08:47 PM) That's Gold I love how Soxtalk is decked out in anit-cub propaganda this time of year. It reminds me of Christmas. You could probably add Derek Lee and Miguel Cabrera to your list of those who have pwned the cubs in the playoffs, Greg

QUOTE(RockRaines @ Oct 2, 2007 -> 10:29 AM) If that happened to the yankees or BoSox there would maybe even be an appeal and trial. With the Pads, meh. also, the play wasnt the end of the inning. the Rockies would have had a runner in scoring position still(helton advanced to second) with one out. Had it been 2 outs, game tied, I think there would be more controversy on this call. That doesnt make it right, but thats how I see it

QUOTE(kapkomet @ Oct 3, 2007 -> 08:52 AM) ??? Now I know I'm getting old. I dont know what this is either Kap. Maybe its an i-pod controlled bulldozer

the first thing Andruw needs to address is his Bartolo Colon-like growing waist. If he can avoid the buffet line over the winter, he can probably get back to where he was offensively, or at least close to it. Defensively, he isnt going to regain that step he used to have, father time took that away. But he can still be a good CF, just not elite like he once was

QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Oct 3, 2007 -> 08:39 AM) I didn't watch it but I just can't see any way how that show would be good. Thats because there is no way it can be funny. They were even pimping the show on Dancing with the Stars, and it wasnt funny then either. And the creators of the show tried to say it wasnt about racism as well. right

QUOTE(Buehrle>Wood @ Oct 2, 2007 -> 07:11 PM) Cavemen is awesome. Hahaha....no Far from it

What kind of injury are they saying that Cena has? he looked like he was favoring his arm a lot at the end of the match edit: nevermind

http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/news/story?id=3045272 Preliminary reports are coming out that he may be found guilty. Im actually surprised at this decision. Not that i didnt think he did it, but I am surprised that MSG and Thomas werent able to sway the jury, they put on quite a smear campaign on this lady

I agree with many of the assessments on this thread: The bad No Dwight, Pam and Jim pranks? what show is this? Talking to the camera in a non-interview setting took away from the fun of the invisible cameraman, and it was awkward. It seemed more like a setup show for future episodes than an actual episode to me. The good Andy and his bleeding nipples, Michael and his blurred out manhood. The race, and the abbreviation for the race, and the phone message for the race with Michael jumping in at the end saying solemnly "for the cure" Creed, Stanley, and Oscar ditching the race for beers(and creeds large bottle of wine). Creed telling Jan that he is 82 years old. Creed questioning what types of drugs Meredith was getting. and last but not least, Dwight giving Toby(Satan) immodium instead of ex-lax and helping him win the race

QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ Oct 1, 2007 -> 11:14 AM) The fact that they went 14-0 despite all of the following late game senarios: Winning 23-19 over the Bearcats in Cincinnati, despite UC having first and goal and getting 4 passes into the end zone that could have won it with less than a minute to go before an interception. Won 19-14 at UW despite trailing 14-13 halfway through the 4th quarter at Wisconsin, and then holding on to a 5 point lead late in the 4th as Wisconsin had the ball inside the OSU 30. Won 13-7 at home over Penn State due to a 3rd quarter pick 6 by Chris Gamble, then held on thanks in large part to no call on an obvious pass interference late in the game in OSU territory. Won 10-6 at Purdue despite being down 6-3 with 2 minutes left in the game, and hitting a 4th and 1 at the Purdue 35 on a bomb for a touchdown that was perfectly covered. Won 23-16 in overtime at Illinois in a game that would have gone to double overtime if not for a horrid ruling of a bobble by Walter Young on an obvious TD catch. Beat Michigan 14-9 at Ohio Stadium after trailing 9-7 in the 4th quarter and allowing Michigan into OSU territory several times in the second half. Winning 31-24 in double overtime over Miami, a victory that isn't possible without a late and phanton pass interference call on 4th down in the 1st overtime. Was that team a great clutch team and well coached? There is no doubt at all they were, but the fact that they won every single one of those games (half of their overall schedule) in the same season is without question very lucky, if even one break goes against them in any of those games, they lose. Every game in the history of college football is won by your definition of luck. -

QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Sep 30, 2007 -> 02:34 PM) AJ wouldn't cost 5/$90 or whatever Hunter ends up getting to bring in. I wasnt referring to the cost of Hunter as much as how he is being labeled as an overrated loser. Especially considering how many times his team has gone to the playoffs(and thus prevented the Sox from going. Many times which he was directly responsible for)
-
*sigh* 4 games into the season and we are talking draft. One year removed from the Superbowl
-
QUOTE(Jeckle2000 @ Sep 30, 2007 -> 08:53 AM) The Twins will be that much better just by getting rid of that dead weight joke Tori "Mr. Overrated who doesn't want to win" Hunter. He's such a loser and whatever team signs him will be disappointed. IMO if the Sox we're to sign him i'd have to boycott because they would be ensuring to be fighting the royals for the cellar for at least the length of his contract. Him and Johan ought to go to the same place since their both overrated and will never get a ring. Hunter because he doesn't want it enough (See Choking it in the playoffs every year on purpose because he's a loser) and Johan will never be on a good enough team. HUNTER IS A b**** AND SHOULD NOT BE ALLOWED TO RUIN THIS TEAM! I'D RATHER HAVE OWENS, BA, and Sweeney then one second of Hunter the loser b****! I remember many people thinking the same thing about AJ Pierzynski

QUOTE(Sonik22 @ Sep 28, 2007 -> 10:39 PM) Happiness can't describe how i feel! Get Crittle now! the only way the Salukis land Crittle is if a current player leaves. I think Homegrown_Saluki on Salukitalk said that there was going to be a surprise player leaving the program in the next year. Can you imagine a front line rotation with Booker, fay, and Crittle? Thats some thunder right there QUOTE(Heads22 @ Sep 30, 2007 -> 02:13 AM) Iowa gets commitment from 6-9 260 *** 09 C Brennan Cougill, widely regarded as the top player in the state of Iowa and is somehow the #9 center on Rivals for 09. Iowa beat out Indiana State, Southern Illinois, Loyola Chicago and UWGB. Iowa State was not likely to offer Cougill. Sorry, Jason. Kid is fat. Also, more than likely just midmajor talent. Lickliter is having a really tough time recruiting. His highest rated recruit from 08 is Matt Gatens, who, I have read, "would go to Iowa if Hitler coached there". This is going to be a real test of Lickliter's coaching ability. I like the man, and I think he's a good coach, but Alford left and Iowa basketball reminds me of Iowa football post-Fry. Hmmm, I didnt know he was on our list http://www.salukitalk.net/st/recruiting.php?y=4 Well, just cause it isnt on the list doesnt mean Lowery wasnt looking at him.
