  1. Strange that Sheffield was willing to bare it all to Sports Illustrated, but then he clammed up when Mitchell came a knockin
  2. can we please get back to our regularly scheduled complaining about the 2008 White Sox? This steroids business is looney tunes. I really liked listening to Mitchell pin this on the MLBPA and the MLB, and i am really interested to hear Selig and Fehr talk around it.

CNN reporting that Ike Turner has passed away
  4. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Dec 11, 2007 -> 07:15 PM) There's no way he gets more than $5 million of that is there? I was listening to Hub Arkush on the score on the way home tonite, and he said Petrino got his 20 million last year, and now he is heading out. the way i interpreted it was that the 20 mil was a signing bonus. I dont know the specifics of his contract though this article is good for laughs Petrino clear about desire to coach the Falcons next year
  5. QUOTE(lord chas @ Dec 11, 2007 -> 05:31 PM) petrino is a punk quoted for truth. The guy got a big payday last year (20 million) and when the going got tough, Bobby got going Petrino to Arkansas
  6. Grossman: "I'd like to be back here if I'm wanted back here"
  7. QUOTE(Shadows @ Dec 10, 2007 -> 11:09 PM) Man that was the best Raw I have ever seen I totally agree. The only thing that could have made it better is if it was at MSG or if the Rock actually made an appearance(he was in every promo, every flashback, and up for RAW superstar of the last 15 years, Im seriously dissapointed in the Jabroni), but other than that I loved the entire show. The Hardy/Carlito ladder match was one heck of a start.

QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Dec 10, 2007 -> 03:08 PM) I'm really looking forward to seeing I am Legend on Friday. Not that I have a choice in the matter, because I rarely have the time to actually go to a theatre, but I would rather wait for a rental on I am Legend. Will Smith's characters usually bother me when i watch his movies, he doesnt usually change it up too much, they are all the same guy. The movie looks cool, and I will certainly watch it though. I just wouldnt make it a point to go see it (except for the Dark Knight preview )

    Bam! There it is!
  10. QUOTE(Texsox @ Dec 10, 2007 -> 02:07 PM) I guess I considered WalMart in the grocery and clothing store category. Their electronics department, by contrast, may be much smaller. then I guess I am a little confused by your definition of local in this conversation. Local as in Mom n pop stores? Or local as in: Jewel is local where I live, and is still a "national" grocery store, but you cannot find Jewel in Texas as the local grocery store because of (insert store name, Dominicks, Schnucks, Kroger, Cash n Carry, Rite Aid, Publix) I consider Walmart to be in the national category, never the local category.
  11. QUOTE(Texsox @ Dec 10, 2007 -> 12:45 PM) What kinds of stores will fall at the blade of the internet and which will survive. I'm thinking three stores will probably always be around on a local basis, grocery, clothing, and building supplies. What about when "Catch all" stores like Walmart knock those out of business? The internet and "combination" stores do a lot of damage

Not too sure if I like it. This is a tough one. I dont know if the Wachowski brothers will be able to simultaneously please the older crowd that grew up on this television show and also attract the younger audience that they need to make this movie a success. edit: For some reason I liked it a little better the second time I watched it. Maybe I was just a little caught off guard by the approach to the movie.
  13. QUOTE(juddling @ Dec 5, 2007 -> 05:09 PM) Anna Rawson yawn Paula Creamer (How can you not love that name?) 1 2 Natalie Gulbis 1 2 Plenty of hotness in the LPGA IMO
  14. QUOTE(WCSox @ Dec 7, 2007 -> 01:33 PM) The encouraging thing about Floyd (and Owens, for that matter) is that both finished strong this past season. I'm in no way suggesting that either of these guys are going to be elite players (or even high-tier players), but it wouldn't surprise me at all if they both had solid years in '08. I'm still not a fan of this trade, but I don't expect Floyd to absolutely suck nuts in '08 either. I actually believe Floyd will win 10+. If Coop can get him in a good rhythm and get him to trust his stuff and listen to AJ, he will be just fine. Owens is a crapshoot, and it all depends on his playing time. Should he somehow end up the starter or "floating" starter ala Mackowiak, I think he will be a .280+ hitter with little power and many SBs. If he is going be be a last guy on the bench type player and isnt getting in regularly, I could see his numbers looking similar to what they looked like last year when he was sent down.
  15. QUOTE(sircaffey @ Dec 7, 2007 -> 12:28 PM) I'm right there with you. People say it we are a better team, but how? Have we not seen what an incomplete rotation is like? Do we remember Mr. Danny Wright? THE Gary Glover, Jon Rauch, Jim Parque, Rocky Biddle, and all that other crap that was shuffled through the rotation from 2001-2004? I'd much rather have a hole in the offense. Afterall, we won the World Series with one. We haven't won s*** without a complete rotation. I know what you are saying, but none of those guys were thought of as the special pitcher that Floyd was when he was drafted and coming up through the phillies system. Floyd may not have the mental tools to be the pitcher we all want him to be(which is debatable, he hasnt had a long career to prove it either way), but he has always had the physical tools to be a really good pitcher.
  16. I dont even want to hear the "we cant switch them out until the 4th quarter" bull#### from Lovie. Griese looks like he went out boozing and was surprised to hear his number called.
  17. I cannot wait until Fukodome signs wherever he signs. There are gonna be some hilarious threads about it. People are gonna be pissed if we sign him because it will be too much and he wont be worth it, or they are gonna be pissed if we miss out on him because the money wasnt enough, or they are gonna be pissed if he decides to stay in Japan because KW didnt make a good enough offer. Any way it happens, its gonna be great
  18. QUOTE(SnB @ Dec 6, 2007 -> 11:39 AM) yeah, well what other show would you use your great wisdom on? Did you enjoy this survey, Nope Not Really No These pretzels are making me thirsty LOL, nice variety of choices
  19. 18 million per? Boras wins again
  20. QUOTE(Heads22 @ Dec 5, 2007 -> 05:11 PM) I really care for her, but if push comes to shove, I'm siding with my roommate. In this situation, this statement is an oxymoron. When does push move to shove, and what decides that? Im guessing your roomate doesnt know about the texting and the girls confessions to you of love, but tell me, what do you think he would say if he did know? And how about if he says something to hurt her in a fight or whatever and she says something to hurt him back like "Yeah, well I like him and he knows it and we have been texting each other for a while now behind your back." Then you are sucked in and EVERYONE is pissed. If he is your boy, you better be upfront right away and let him know whats going on
  21. QUOTE(Heads22 @ Dec 5, 2007 -> 09:10 AM) The roommate girlfriend stuff got interesting. They broke up last night. I get a text at 3 AM saying "I love you. Don't tell {my roommate}." It's like high school all over again! This girl is all kinds of trouble, I hope for 2 things: 1. she is worth it 2. you arent that great of friends with your roomate I did the "she likes you she likes me" deal sophomore year. It wasnt fun for anyone involved, and nobody really ended up friends afterwards

QUOTE(LosMediasBlancas @ Dec 1, 2007 -> 11:02 AM) I've been hearing bits and pieces. Give us the story. Stacy Peterson disappeared. Drew Peterson, a shady police officer with quite the spotty past, said that she left him for some guy she was seeing, leaving their young children behind. Close family members didnt believe his story. At first Drew Peterson wasnt a suspect, but then people started questioning some things about his past, specifically the death of his 3rd wife. His third wife, Kathleen Savio, was determined to have drowned in her own bathtub, which was completely empty at the time. The body of his ex has been exhumed, and Dr Michael Baden (of HBO: Autopsy fame) has gone on record saying that her death was a homicide. Drew Petersons lawyers obviously disputed this claim. This is when things started getting wierd. Peterson went on a media blitz, which included multiple appearances on the Today show with Matt Lauer and creepy pleas for his wife to come home. The FBI became involved, and all of the sudden Drew was suspect numero uno. Of course, Drew and his Lawyer complained. Different facts started coming out from both sides. She was flirting with another guy. He used to beat up his ex wives. Michael Sneed got some random scoop that Stacy Peterson told a priest in confession that Drew killed his 3rd wife and she knew about it. Then a letter from nobody showed up, and nobody believed it. And a few days ago, a question was raised about Drew's stepbrother, who recently couldnt be accounted for. Well, it turns out that he attempted suicide. And this is where the story is pretty much standing: The rumor is that Peterson called his stepbrother and met him in a restaraunt to discuss disposing of a problem. Later on, he met up at Drews house to dispose of a large blue barrel, which was reportedly warm to the touch. Nobody knows where the barrel is, and Drew keeps on living life as a free man.
