QUOTE(Kid Gleason @ Nov 15, 2007 -> 10:43 AM) He probably thinks "I wish I still had a career." LOL, and the thought that follows that is "At least I still have a hot wife who brings in tons of money!"
  2. QUOTE(Iwritecode @ Nov 15, 2007 -> 10:59 AM) I kind of have mixed feelings on them ever making any of the DT books into movies. Many of the other stories that he's written that tie into the DT like Hearts in Atlantis and IT were made into movies and they completely removed the DT connection in the movie. Yeah, thats why I think it is such a huge undertaking. Anyone just seeing the DT movies(and there would be MANY movies) without much SK background just wont see the references to the other books and would probably be confused about it. And Clint Eastwood really couldnt pull of playing Roland anymore. Maybe 10 years ago, but not now
  3. QUOTE(Buehrle>Wood @ Nov 14, 2007 -> 11:06 PM) Mario Galaxy is quite possibly the best game I have ever played. why dont you tell me how you really feel?
  4. QUOTE(Flash Tizzle @ Nov 14, 2007 -> 11:39 PM) It was definitely close. For the thousand plus pages of material, and a minimal budget, the mini series did an amazing job concentrating on the main issues. After finishing the novel several years ago I honestly believed the aforementioned points (budget, made for tv) worked in its favor. Some of the material, aside from the entire homosexual angle, just wouldn't work. Such as portraying the female member of their group as a whore, or the entire "Turtle" vomiting out the universe and 'IT' chilling underneath Derry since prehistoric times part. With all the references to Stephen King in this thread, I'm surprised no one has yet to suggest the film version of Pet Sematary was better than the book. Even though I enjoyed the movie, after reading the book it's obviously several notches below. I heard they're remaking the film, so perhaps now they'll attempt to recreate the Gage/Old Man encounter; or the forest Wendigo. Sometimes I think its best if Stephen King books are left alone after the first attempt(and second attempt for that matter. There was a Pet Sematary 2 starring the kid from Terminator 2). Maybe it will be a better go at it, but they really missed the boat on the first one. There has been some great King books translated into movies. I thought that "Thinner"(although it was his penname Richard Bachman) was a really good low budget thriller and did a really good job of following the book. Cujo and Carrie are obviously classics, Hearts in Atlantis, Firestarter, etc The bad thing is that for every good movie, there is about 2 bad ones that take its place with King. While I liked the movie(in a campy horror sort of way), "Maximum Overdrive" was nowhere near as good as the story, "The Mangler" is a great short story, bad movie(2 movies actually), "The Lawnmower Man" was NOT EVEN CLOSE to the actual short story, "The Children of the Corn" has been made and remade 50 times it seems and they never get it right. http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0000175/ Sometimes I look at that list of movies/books/novellas and I am amazed at what he has written. I havent read all of it, but I have read a good portion of it. If someone manages to pull off "The Dark Tower" series I will be a really happy guy, but the gravity of the storyline and everything it encompasses is a HUGE challenge.
  5. Jericho needs to grow his hair back. he doesnt look right
  6. QUOTE(FlaSoxxJim @ Nov 14, 2007 -> 08:13 AM) As an avid EC horror fan who owns all of the Russ Cochran slipcase reprints and a good number of original comics, I definitely love Creepshow and the homage to both the old EC comics and the anthology horror film genre. But the stories themselves weren't comic adaptations. King wrote the Father's Day, Something to Tide You Over, and They're Creeping Up on You scripts specifically for the film, and the Jordy Verril and The Crate scripts were adapted from previous King short stories. The comic adaptation for Creepshow, with Berni Wrightson and Jack Kamen fittingly getting the nod to do the artwork, was itself a nice adaptation of the film. My Mom used to buy the Creepshow comics for me and my brother when we were waiting in line at the grocery store when we were kids. We must have gotten a few that were made directly from the movie, because the stories were all in the comics we got(plus more). On a side note, I really enjoyed those comics Oh well, I still loved both Creepshow 1 and 2.

I downloaded First Wave Hello "The Lord & Its Penguin" and I love every minute of it. I saw them open for Ken Andrews(and play the dual role of his backup band) at the double door twice this year, and really liked their sound. The album is really good
  8. I would say that the movie adaptation of Stephen King's "It" was close to, if not better than the book. The book was good, dont get me wrong, but there is a whole sub-plot involving It killing a small population of homosexuals in Dairy(Derry?) that was left out of the movie, probably because it really didnt fit in the scheme of the storyline(or what was considered proper at the time the movie came out). The book is so thick, and it is a long part of the book that didnt really fit with the rest. Stephen King's "Cats Eye" has a couple of good adaptations of his short stories as well, especially the tennis player on the ledge. While I am at it, "Creep Show" was pretty damn good at adapting some of those comics as well, especially with adding the comic book flavor to the movie.

QUOTE(BigSqwert @ Nov 14, 2007 -> 07:03 AM) I would love to slit your cat and dog's throat in front of you and your family and eat them as you watch. Damn good eats! Those are delicacies where I was raised. I just dont get this analogy. Not at all. I dont slit the throats of cows and chickens and watch them suffer and watch their owners get upset. If you are vegetarian, thats great, you may live longer and healthier(maybe). Why do you have to be angry at people who choose to eat meat? How does that affect you so much that you have to resort to comparing the slaughter of animals to the holocaust or talk about killing pets in front of their family?
  10. QUOTE(Steve9347 @ Nov 13, 2007 -> 02:46 PM) again? he's played 70+ games in each of his last 4 seasons. Yeah, but the media always plays up his nagging injuries. He is pretty consistent with having nagging injuries that keep him out a little bit here and there
  11. QUOTE(Soxbadger @ Nov 13, 2007 -> 01:59 PM) Hey they should be lucky, I bet if they were being given Red Dog or Keystone they might not even want to drink at all. Ah college frat parties, where you find out what truly is the cheapest worst beer. ......And then you drink and drink and drink that cheapest worst beer until someone goes on a beer run and brings back more cheap bad beer

  13. QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Nov 12, 2007 -> 06:51 PM) I understand that -- the talking-heads at ESPN are saying the same thing. But wouldn't that be pretty much the opposite of what Lovie has done in his tenure, which is stick by one guy through thick-and-thin? When he made the commitment to Griese a few weeks ago, he said it wasn't just a little fling, but rather a full-time switch. I'm not saying whether that's right or wrong, but it's just how I'm looking at it. Doesnt the whole thing seem orchestrated though? Isnt it wierd that on the very same week that Rex has his workload increased "just in case" that Brian Griese goes down with a vague shoulder injury? Strange coincidence
  14. QUOTE(Buehrle>Wood @ Nov 12, 2007 -> 02:46 PM) Mario Galaxy tomorrow! Some are saying it's the best 3D platformer ever, including Super Mario 64 in that discussion. The videos on gamespot are amazing. It looks like a lot of fun
  15. Doesnt this basically hand the starting Cubs CF job to Felix Pie?
  16. A good healing ligament? WTF is that supposed to mean? The ligaments hold everything in place, if one is removed, isnt there extra stress on the remaining ligaments? Doesnt seem like a good idea to let him come back out with damage in his knee already, JMO

QUOTE(knightni @ Nov 9, 2007 -> 11:24 AM) He actually played in Japan before the Yankees. He signed at 22 with the Yankees. Didnt he go to Japan so he could avoid the amateur draft and then sign with whomever he wanted(ie. paid him the most)? Just curious, I thought I remembered reading something like that
  18. QUOTE(Brian @ Nov 11, 2007 -> 09:32 PM) I think I am becoming infatuated with Kim Kardashian. I don't know why, but I think she is sexy as hell. Why is she even a celeb? Her deceased father Robert Kardashian was a very famous lawyer. Something about an OJ case or something like that. So she is famous by osmosis/genes.
  19. Looks like Adrian Peterson just had his knee blown up
  20. I dont know, for some reason I think these new logos and unis look like the Milwaukee Brewers new logos and Unis

You should see what those mean loggers do to those trees, and what those cruel combines do to all that corn. The only thing I get from watching those videos is that those farmers need to be regulated and shut down for cruelty, it doesnt make me want to eat meat less, it just makes me angry that those animals have to suffer in that fashion while going through their short lives. There are plenty of farms that dont treat animals like that, and you never see videos of them.
  22. Completely embarrassing to watch right now. 77-43 in the third quarter, Skiles sat his starters from 7:30 on.
  23. QUOTE(Shadows @ Nov 10, 2007 -> 08:59 PM) haha, thats exactly what you did.. LOL, i was thinking the same thing. Maybe you are supposed to kind of keep the Sox roster intact, except drop all the bad players(which is the majority of last years team), and bring in players that are much better, but not all superstars, but some of them superstars, then call it your dream team.
  24. Damn, Scott Skiles just did a 5 man substitution after the Bulls went down 52-31 starting the 3rd quarter. The starters have been pathetic
  25. QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Nov 10, 2007 -> 08:05 AM) Ha, it's funny cause last night I was actually talking to one of my buddies about the exact same thing. When I was younger I actually got up much earlier than I had to, to make sure I got a whole episode of sportscenter in before school. Now, I couldn't care less if I watch it at all for the most part. I can watch highlights and get scores on the internet, ESPN just does nothing for me at the moment(outside of PTI). I still do watch it when I can as it's still the best overall place for highlights but I certainly don't make a point to watch it like I used to. I had my TV timer set as my alarm when I was a kid, sportscenter was my alarm clock pretty much. I knew if I saw the same highlight twice, It was time to get up. Steiner, Olberman and Patrick, Kilborn, Ley, Mayne, those guys were awesome back in the day.
