QUOTE(daa84 @ Aug 2, 2007 -> 09:56 PM) i actually am not sure how i feel about this move...my biggest concerns for this D are at safety....lets face it, mike brown is injury prone, so depth is important....in addition archuleta was horrible in washington....yes it wasnt the same system, and archuleta is supposedly much better in cover 2, but he was getting beat in washington with his coverage skills, and im not sure i trust that he will be able to cover half the deep field as well as he did a few years ago in st. louis.....after that manning is solid, and i assume the bears must think highly enough of brandon mcgowan and rookie kevin payne to let harris go....those guy i suppose could be better ballplayers than harris....im not saying chris harris was a great player, but this was a guy who started 20 games in just 2 seasons in teh NFL and that experience is somewhat valuable.... oh well...it probably won't matter too much, but if brown gets injured and archuleta stinks again we could be in trouble lovie smith was talking up Kevin Payne alot, and they also have Brandon McGowan and Daniealle Manning, so they were 6 deep at the safety position. From what I have read and heard about Payne is that he is very similar to harris(big hitter), but has some better coverage skills.

QUOTE(juddling @ Aug 2, 2007 -> 03:46 PM) There is a couple different videos on YouTube of the Shiek snapping at different autograph shows. I remember a few years ago at one in Chicago he had to be restrained by security because he attacked someone else. (i didn't recognize the someone else). That may have been the one where the Ultimate Warrior refused to shake his hand, and Sheik went crazy. When a security guard stepped in, Sheik pimp slapped him. It was funny as heck

QUOTE(DonnyDevito @ Aug 2, 2007 -> 02:40 PM) oh, yeah! that must be it dude. i think you've been spending too much time at Medieval Times! he's playing better for the phillies than he was for us. that's just the facts. that 3 game sample shows you everything, I see Medieval Times? I guess because I live near there, that must make sense

QUOTE(frankie5angels @ Aug 2, 2007 -> 02:34 PM) Plus he is playing for a winner and not a loser. That always helps when you know you have a shot to win everyday, and that you are in a division race. Yes, for the past 3 years, Iguchi has been playing for a loser, and now he is playing for a winner. GMAB

QUOTE(kapkomet @ Aug 2, 2007 -> 02:27 PM) OMG OMG OMG OMG GOOCH has played well in THREE GAMES! OMG OMG OMG! Sometimes you people amaze me. Dont forget, he is more focused now than he has EVAR!!11!! been in his entire career with the White Sox

QUOTE(briguy27 @ Aug 2, 2007 -> 02:23 PM) Way to go, Danny what happened

QUOTE(DonnyDevito @ Aug 2, 2007 -> 02:21 PM) this is what i walk talking about. iguchi is more focused and playing better than he ever did in chicago right now for the phils. not a game has gone by, it seems, where Gooch didn't either get a hit, run, or an RBI. and i think gooch has more walks as a phillie than he did, on average, with the chisox. Everytime you say that you convince me that you never watched a game Iguchi played in before this year

QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Aug 2, 2007 -> 02:09 PM) Juan "I love seconds and thirds at the buffet line" Uribe with the last out. Hopefully after this season, we can finally get rid of this. How many times do we need to see the human windmill try to launch every single pitch onto the street. Another offseason of 2nd helpings and he wont even bend over for the ball. You would think he would be in shape this season after running from the police for the entire offseason [rimshot]

Loaded gun on the endtable at any time. Great idea Sounds like he needs to call Vick

QUOTE(rangercal @ Aug 1, 2007 -> 11:21 AM) since you're cool x infinity , I'll let you keep your $5 and remind you an NBA season only consists of 82 games, not 84. Can I get those same odds if the Celtics are only 2 games over .500? Pretty please?

i dont know if any of you heard JA on the Boers and Bernstein show yesterday, but I have never heard that guy laugh as much as he did with those two. It was odd to hear him when he isnt on the defensive. B&B asked him about the upcoming team, JA said that Garrett Wolfe is who he foresees as his steal of the draft. He also said that if he hadnt been in Tampa when Warrick Dunn was drafted, he may not have felt that way about him, but he sees alot of Dunn in Wolfe.

Raiders looking at Daunte Culpepper
Kyyle23 replied to AirScott's topic in Alex’s Olde Tyme Sports Pub
QUOTE(AirScott @ Aug 1, 2007 -> 08:13 AM) He sucked in Minny after Moss left, before he was injured. I'm saying he really, really benefited from being able to throw Moss seven or eight jumpballs in the end zone every season. You can't blame the knee for throwing 12 picks and six TDs in seven games in 2005. What Balta is saying is that Culpepper wasnt healed last year, and it wouldnt have mattered if Culpepper was in Miami or Oakland last year because his knee was still screwed up. Culpepper wouldnt have been throwing to Moss much of last year for the same reasons he wasnt able to hit Chambers and Booker, he didnt have the line to protect him and he didnt have the mobility to escape pressure. BTW, Culpepper to Oakland is a done deal now http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=2956542 -
QUOTE(ChWRoCk2 @ Jul 31, 2007 -> 04:21 PM) No way. Forking that much out for Garnett was kind of ridiculous. If the Bulls were to do that yes we might win a Chamionship but it would ruin our depth alot for future years. A trade like that would really nullify what Paxson has done since he becamse the GM. I dont see it either but how can you not like having a guy like Allen to drain threes on the arch, a go to the basket player in Pierce and post player in Garnett. Beyond Pierce, Allen and Garnett they are extremely young. Who do they got, Rondo, Perkins, Allan Ray, Glen 'Big Baby' Davis and Pruitt. If their big 3 play most of the game yeah Id put them at the top of the Eastern Conference but their depth and youth will kill them. They also could really use a solid defender. I think they will contend, dont get me wrong. Something about it reminds me of the Knicks situation the last couple years with shooters and ballhogs (Pierce and Allen, Marbury and Francis) coexisting on the same floor and never gelling because they are all used to being "The Man", but I think they will be able to overcome that and make the playoffs. i dont think they vault up to the top 3 of the East, either. I think the Bulls, Pistons, Heat, and possibly the Cavs will be able to handle this team, provided they could stay healthy of course. Health is always a concern for these players as well, Allen(ankles) and Garnett(knee) have had some painful nagging injuries the last few years.

QUOTE(Colorado Sox Fan @ Jul 31, 2007 -> 03:25 PM) Rex won us some games last year. St. Louis comes to mind, when the D couldn't stop them. You are preaching to the choir, I really like Grossman, always have. Like I said, if he could take those horrible games he has and turn them into merely mediocre games, he will be a fantastic QB

QUOTE(rangercal @ Jul 31, 2007 -> 07:55 AM) WOW. John Clayton was talking on Mike and Mike. They asked him what was the most exciting thing he has seen in all the camps so far. First thing he mentioned, the bears OFFENSE. Yes the offense people. He said Hester was putting on a show in camp and compared him to Steve Smith but only faster. Also talked great about olsen. To see an unbiased point of view mention this gets me a little excited. Honestly, I never expected much from hester except for trick plays. We may have something good here. It's time to get excited about the O. I know all of us are a little worried because of Rex. A quarterback is like a starting pitcher , 1 game you can be DOMINANT, the next completely horrible. Starting pitchers and quarterbacks also can have career years. Don't count Rex out guys. Rex had a decent year in his first full year, and by Bears QB standards he still is way at the top of the list(which isnt saying too much, but still). Rex will have more weapons to his disposal, another year with the same OC and the same playbook, and hopefully a little confidence more than cockiness after having a Superbowl year last year. The premise of the season will still be the same, the defense will do what they do and Rex really only has to manage the game, but the prospects of the offense are really exciting this year. If Rex can turn some of those total stinker games into merely mediocre games, his numbers will be through the roof.

Screamin A Smith just said that Boston is now easily in the top 3 of the EAST, maybe top two. Calling Eastern Conference finals and maybe NBA finals. I really dont see it, besides those guys, who does Boston have? Those three are pretty good, dont get me wrong, but Boston is getting rid of most of thier team to get Garnett, who else is going to be around?

QUOTE(Shadows @ Jul 30, 2007 -> 09:48 PM) Orton does plenty, I see the legend killer "crap" as a side deal.. but seriously, how can you forget about him beating Cactus Jack in that Hardcore match? That match was awesome. Because Mick Foley has been boring for the better part of the last 5 years. It was an easily forgettable match.
-
QUOTE(Brian @ Jul 30, 2007 -> 09:34 PM) Hasn't Orton already killed the Legend of Sgt. Slaughter? Isnt this legend killer crap wearing thin with you guys? It isnt proving anything, he is beating up old guys who show up for a paycheck now and again. he still hasnt "killed" the legend of the Undertaker. Whats the point anymore? IMO its just making him look bad, and not heel bad, more like incompetent bad. I see what you guys see in him too(even though i would rather not admit it), but this legend killer crap is just stunting his growth as a wrestler. He is gonna have to go toe to toe with some one like Umaga(the unstoppable type) and step up to the next level before he gets his shot at a title hold for a while, or a good program with HHH. Yes. I said Legend killer crap twice
-
Come on, Sgt Slaughter? Candace Michelle could beat up the sarge at this point

QUOTE(MHizzle85 @ Jul 30, 2007 -> 08:58 PM) IIRC I dont think it was more about him trying to become an actor. But more UPN not wanting an islamic character on their programming. And once he found out that the WWE wasn't going to be using him at all, then he made it known what his plans were. From what I read it was a little of both. His promo that got him fired(pretty much) was unreal. He said some really inciteful things and generated an amazing amount of heat. If someone was guiding them correctly, it could have been done a lot better.
