  1. QUOTE(Brian @ Nov 9, 2007 -> 09:16 PM) Good job by the E to record their own footage of the interview in case something like what did happen, happened. I see where CNN took it out of context a bit, but for Cena to say he hasn't ever used steroids is BS in my opinion. Take him out of context a bit? They made it look like he completely dodged the question when he in fact answered the question. Whether you believe him or not isnt the point. And I agree, WWE was smart to videotape that interview and bust out CNN like that
  2. When i was in 8th grade I sent a rookie card and a letter to Robin Ventura with Comiskey as the address, and he signed the card, sent back a letter of authenticity, and signed the letter and wrote a little note back to me. I got it back in 2 weeks
  3. QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Nov 9, 2007 -> 05:22 PM) That may be true, but wsf101's main point still holds true -- this Bulls team as currently constructed doesn't have a chance of winning a title, unless some major strides are made. And by major strides I mean Deng would have to elevate his game from 'pretty good' player to superstar, and I don't think that can happen with his (perceived) athletic ceiling. Tyrus Thomas would also have to become a dominant force down low on both ends. He'd have to develop a game on the post where, if there were two minutes left and the Bulls needed a bucket, they could give the ball to Thomas and be reasonably confident that he could make a move and score. It's quite dissappointing, really. The 'bad vibes' started when they inked Nocioni, a good bench player, to a contract that is too long and for too much money. I hope they don't make that same mistake with Gordon. Im not arguing that fact(in fact I agree that the Bulls need someone to put them over as well), im just saying that the label Tyrus is getting as a player with a poor work ethic is one that I dont see. we all know Skiles does not play people like that, no matter how much they are making(See Tim Thomas), and Tyrus is starting, so he must be doing something right
  4. QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ Nov 9, 2007 -> 03:25 PM) Tyrus and Deng are the only 2 players that could be really good on this team. If you can keep those 2 and acquire a big time player somehow, then your getting somewhere. But it's even iffy on Tyrus and Deng, but at least they COULD get championship good I suppose. It's just relying on a guy with a poor work ethic and another who's a poor athlete makes me nervous. I havent been able to find anything that has come from the Bulls brass indicating that Tyrus Thomas has a poor work ethic(and you know Skiles would rip him up), the only place I have heard it is through the media, and that is only because he didnt come to Chicago for his offseason workouts. This doesnt mean he has a poor work ethic, for all we know he was in the gym for 12 hours a day and going over tape for the rest of the day, we just dont know. To assume he has a poor work ethic is wrong if you ask me. He is still young and raw, and he is still learning. There is plenty of gaps in his learning curve right now, but he still has a world of talent to make up for those gaps. The kid went from a street baller 4 years ago, to a starter on his high school basketball team, to a starter on his college basketball team which was the runner-up to the national champs( he was a huge reason for that), to a top 5 draft pick, and now he is a starter his second year into the league. If his work ethic was really that bad, I think his career path would look a little different right now.
  5. QUOTE(MHizzle85 @ Nov 8, 2007 -> 02:55 PM) Chris Masters fired. Good Ridance. So he should be on TNA by next week
  6. QUOTE(Brian @ Nov 7, 2007 -> 10:32 PM) Ok, when did WCKG change formats? I heard about it going spanish but not soft rock. It is one of the reasons that the Bulls moved back to WMVP 1000. When the Bulls moved, I believe the format changed right around the same time. What a shame too, I still remember all of the commercials they used to run back in the day. They used to be a premier station in Chicago, now they have no true identity. I feel the same way about 94.7, there have been a few times over the years where the format they had was far and away better than anything else at the time, but they just changed formats again and lost all of their momentum.

QUOTE(NorthSideSox72 @ Nov 8, 2007 -> 07:14 AM) St. P paper still shows Sox as an interested party for Crawford. from the same article: The Twins would be winning that deal in a landslide if you ask me
  8. A new kind of huffing. Why ANYONE would think to do something like this is totally beyond me. Absolutely revolting
  9. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Nov 6, 2007 -> 05:00 PM) ANd in case you wanted a link... Sorry, i just caught it on Sportscenter, wasnt browsing ESPN.com In other news, Pacman Jones was denied his reinstatement appeal.
  10. Don Shula is intimating that should the Patriots win the Superbowl and go undefeated, Spygate should put an asterisk next to the record.
  11. QUOTE(SleepyWhiteSox @ Nov 6, 2007 -> 02:21 PM) Some of the college teams practice against guys who played high school ball... Im pretty sure SIU does
  12. Mike North said on the air recently that he would challenge a Stacey Dales on the Chicago Sky to 1 on 1 and he gauranteed he would beat her. Im waiting for her to take him up on it
  13. QUOTE(LauraJ14 @ Nov 6, 2007 -> 10:30 AM) Illinois used to have a tournament - I think it was the Illini Classic and they usually were other teams from Illinois there. I remember them playing ISU several times back when I went to school there. I think that they played Bradley last season and I know that the Illini have played UIC several times in the last 5 or 6 years. SIU-UofI is the one I want QUOTE(Brian @ Nov 6, 2007 -> 10:39 AM) Kyle is referring to the run around that Illinois gives SIU when approached about playing each other. Chris Lowery has asked Weber about it to no avail. It goes back as far as Weber asking Self to no avail. I was hoping Illinois would beat VTech last year in the tournament so we could have that match up. I think it is probably better for Bruce right now that they lost to Va Tech. If SIU would have done to the Illini what they did to Va Tech, I dont know that Weber would still have his job right now
  14. QUOTE(Steve9347 @ Nov 6, 2007 -> 09:28 AM) I don't care of Ozzie has to play shortstop himself... I want Uribe gone and gone for good. Well we at least know that Guillen would get a bunt down.
  15. i know one thing, Jose Guillen has killed the Sox every chance he has gotten. Coop doesnt know how to pitch to juicers
  16. QUOTE(Brian @ Nov 6, 2007 -> 09:21 AM) Hater. This whole HBK/Orton thing is tough cuz I am a huge Orton fan but HBK is one of my favs of all time. If we get a 4 star match at SS, we all win. Believe me, Im trying to appreciate Orton as champ. i just think the WWE took away the one thing that made Orton what he is, and that isnt right. The Rock was cocky before he was champ, during the time he was champ, and while he was chasing the belt. I understand that Orton will never be what Rocky was on the mic, but at the same time you have to let the guy holding the belt do a little smack talking and enjoy his time with the belt. My prediction for SS is that Edge is gonna pull something outta his arse and wind up with the title, setting up a long work between Orton and Edge that was supposed to happen at the conclusion of team RKO(but never happened due to Edge's pectoral injury). HBk is just holding the ship up now because Orton "ended his career" a few months ago.
  17. QUOTE(Brian @ Nov 6, 2007 -> 08:42 AM) With the way they are setting things up, HBK will help elevate Orton as a champ at Survivor Series. The crowd is popping huge every time Orton gets kicked. I expect at SS that Orton finally learns, ducks it, hits RKO, wins. That is good storytelling and will make Orton look very good. All this is just build up for a pay off. If the pay off doesn't come, who knows. Thats because of who is delivering the kick, not because of who is recieving it
  18. QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ Nov 6, 2007 -> 09:00 AM) NIU won both of the exhibition games easily against top 5 ranked D III teams (which I feel better about after seeing Michigan State against a top D II team) and open their season Friday at Northern Iowa, playing 3 games in 3 days at the UNI Tournament. I'm just hoping they can go 2-1 in that and show some things, I like the style the new coach Ricardo Patton has them playing, and there are a couple talented newcomers. We follow that up with a trip to SIU next Saturday and then a trip to Indiana State next Tuesday before coming home for 3 games. It's nice to at least have something interesting in regards to basketball going on here again, too bad about the football team though.... Its nice that there can be an in-state game in Illinois. Too bad the fighting Illini dont feel the same way Seriously though, if there was something like the Iowa in-state games or a tournament, I think it would be huge for any of the teams involved.
  19. QUOTE(Brian @ Nov 5, 2007 -> 10:06 PM) Kyle, we have to show off the 115th reunion of DX! Orton has to take a back seat! Orton sells the super kick like death. He rules! Come on, even you have to notice that since he has been champ he hasnt posed one time. this isnt a one-time sell job, this has been going on for weeks. The one great heel quality he has is his innate ability to be and look cocky at all times. Now he is just an angry champion? He could do so much more. Why is he coming off as just a jobber champ? It doesnt make sense. Even though I didnt like his wrestling much before, he could always look the part. And he wasnt bad on the mic provided he was under 2 minutes. His wrestling has gotten better now and his overall persona has taken a dive. What gives? All of the storylines right now seem like they are just waiting for *something* to happen. Whether that be Jericho returning or Edge or whoever, nothing is moving in any recognizable direction. DX for one night only? Yeah right.
  20. Santino and Stone Cold were hilarious tonite Orton has gotten much better in the ring recently(avoiding many chokehold opportunities), but his persona has gotten worse. i dont understand how they put the strap on him and take away his cockiness and replace it with Angry Randy. He doesnt even come out and do his signature pose anymore, he barely shows off anymore, it just isnt like him. At least when his wrestling wasnt up to par you could see him giving a cocky grin or posing or doing something to make you loathe him. Not so much anymore

QUOTE(KevinM @ Nov 5, 2007 -> 12:27 PM) Adam Dunn>Carl Crawford This team needs to be built around guys like Fields, not swapping them for overrated one trick ponies like Crawford. Please explain the one-trick pony part
  22. I honestly just meant it as a joke because Zumaya hurt his wrist playing GH2. If he really hurt his shoulder playing GH3 I will LMAO
  23. QUOTE(The Critic @ Nov 5, 2007 -> 02:51 AM) Congrats, Kyyle!! I really thought I'd miss the competition aspect of playing ball, since I was hyper-competitive in my younger days, but honestly the only thing I miss about softball is hanging out with the guys. Somehow talking to the other dads at the father/daughter school functions just doesn't bring the same kind of enjoyment as playing a game and downing some beers. OH, IT'S CLOSE, THOUGH..... My last season ended with our pitcher striking out the last out with the bases loaded and us leading by 2 in the 8th inning to win the championship. I don't know how you take strike 3 on a full count for the 3rd out in the title game with the bases loaded trailing by 2, but the guy just stood there and watched it drop. Good times..... Thanks man, I really appreciate it. Sometimes softball gets a bad rap that it is full of people who cannot forget their high school years and are basically a bunch of red asses who argue everything and think they are in the world championships at all times. My team is just the opposite, its a bunch of guys who like to compete, but dont take it so seriously that we lose control. We really have a great bunch of guys, and it was such a good time all season. I have one more league playoff on this upcoming thursday, and then I will be done for the season. Critic, I have a guy on my team who is famous for watching the 3rd strike drop in front of his face. I dont understand that either, especially in situations where you are supposed to swing, like the situation your pitcher was in. Softball is a hitting game, you have to be ready to hit.
  24. Even though this is a nerd thing to do, Im gonna brag anyways that my 12 inch softball team just won the Fall league championships tonite. We smoked the first team 17-2, the second team we beat 13-9, and we won our championship game 13-12 in the 8th inning( extra inning in softball) after being down 11-0 in the 2nd inning. This is my first year playing after taking 2 years off, and I forgot how much fun it is to get out and compete a little bit, even though its not for anything but a neat little trophy.
  25. QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ Nov 3, 2007 -> 12:43 AM) I was there. They are obviously VERY distracted, it was shocking how sloppy and unfocused they looked, outside of Tyrus and Ben Gordon who were great. Ben Wallace is officially useless now too, he got eaten alive on the glass all night. Just make the damn Kobe trade already, not like this group is going anywhere. Once you see the gametape and see how bad Gordon was in the last 6 minutes of the game, you might want to recant that statement. Gordon was absolutely brutal when they needed him the most, he turned the ball over on about 4 straight possessions.
