  1. If any of you watched Inside the NFL this week, you may have seen the segment about the replacement players and specifically on the Redskins replacement team winning their 3 games leading to a championship that the professionals continued with. After the segment, Bob Costas asked the panel (Collinsworth, Marino, and Carter) about their feelings on the 1987 season. Marino responded with "I dont think Skip and Lane(players on the redskins, a focus of the segment) did anything but steal paychecks from the real NFL players who were striking and didnt make as much money as the stars" and he went on to talk down about them for a while. Im curious about Soxtalks feelings about this. Im not a union worker, so i dont have that kind of viewpoint to be angry about that sort of thing and I guess understand the feelings behind it. I work in a job where If i decide to tell my boss to pay me X amount, then he can tell me to pack my desk. Thats what I understand about my job. Maybe it is simplistic, but it is the way it is where I work. that doesnt mean i cant try and earn a raise, which I have, but demands and threats to NOT work are laughed at(ie. everyone is replaceable). Now I understand they were fighting for better contracts, benefits, etc... but I just dont understand the lasting hate towards these scabs who got about 3 weeks of fame and then disappeared. They didnt steal those paychecks, they were hired. I cant say i would turn something like that down if I had the ability and the opportunity to play a professional sport during a strike. In fact, i know I would do it in a heartbeat. thoughts?
  2. QUOTE(Brian @ Oct 13, 2007 -> 10:03 PM) I just wet myself a bit. try and contain yourself Nick Evans Dunk Contest Wesley Clemmons Dunk contest Dion Coopwood Dunk Contest I have been looking for the video of Nick Evans dancing to Soulja Boy that made the ESPN top ten, but i havent been able to find it on Youtube yet
  3. QUOTE(max power @ Oct 13, 2007 -> 12:40 PM) It knocked the pigment clean off his face, eh? He has just looked sickly, thin, and pale since it happened, It seemed to age him 20 years. So I guess you could say that, yeah.

QUOTE(sox4lifeinPA @ Oct 13, 2007 -> 08:21 AM) Christiansen's wheelhouse is apathetic and unemotional...this movie looks like a hit for him. He wasnt so bad in "Life as a House" with Kevin Kline. But like I said, that was not my mental image of Darth Vader's twisted past and younger years.
  5. Hall was hilarious though. I thought his story of putting jericho over was pretty cool. I was also surprised when he broke down talkign about Benoit, i wouldnt think it would affect him that much
  6. QUOTE(max power @ Oct 12, 2007 -> 09:18 PM) Stephen king is one ghastly looking mother factor. He never quite looked the same after getting smoked by that car a few years back
  7. A couple of videos have hit youtube of Maroon Madness.
  8. This is bad for the Indians to start the series off having to dig deep into their bullpen. Man, this is a pathetic effort on Clevelands part, I thought they were gonna put some runs up off Beckett tonite.

QUOTE(FlaSoxxJim @ Oct 12, 2007 -> 01:10 PM) This thing is finally coming out? Seems like it's been in production for ever. It looks pretty coool. I'm convinced there is not much acting range toe speak of in either Christensen or Sam Jackson, but this seems like the kind of film that can surive un-nuanced acting. I agree, this movie doesnt have to be a smart movie, its all about the action. I dont expect a intense and lengthy dialogue from either Jackson or Christiansen
  10. Why are Boers and Bernstein on the air right now talking about Weber going the underhanded route to get recruits? I only caught the tail end of the conversation, but they were definitely indicating that Weber stole a recruit from under someone else.
  11. QUOTE(joeynach @ Oct 12, 2007 -> 08:42 AM) How many of those dingers are either solo shots or were hit when the game was already over (either with us winning by a ton or losing by a ton). Hmm, it would be interesting to see that stat quantified

I just saw out this trailer on screenrant.com I will never forgive Hayden Christiansen for his whiny portrayal of Anakin Skywalker(and also Samuel Jackson for his overkill of Mace Windu), but I am definitely going to check this one out.
  13. QUOTE(Buehrle>Wood @ Oct 7, 2007 -> 10:52 PM) The new Zelda is excellent. Does it pick up after the Windwaker storyline? I didnt know if they kept the storyline continuous since the character design and cell shading art used was the same as Windwaker.
  14. QUOTE(Heads22 @ Oct 10, 2007 -> 04:16 PM) If you remember, I've thought that was the case since UNI. I just don't see him taking this program to a place it could go. I can see him making us top half of the Big 12, but I've got a hard time believing he can take us where Eustachy did in 2000. He's only brought in one recruit that is higher than a 3-star (Craig Brackins) and he got passed over and over again for a need (08 big) that was going to be a pretty big deal, and instead we've got Hawkeye retread Alex Thompson and friggin Clayton Vette. Brackins is the only one he's taken away from the "big boys" despite being on Colton Iverson and Tyler Zeller far before any of them. That being said, I am a fan of the guards that have come in this year. I just wish that I could actually like the guy we have as basketball coach. The way he said he was comfortable at UNI to come to Iowa State, and the notion that if he does succeed that he'll stay here is pretty ludicrous, IMO. It came down to the money to come to ISU. Come on Heads, every coach follows the green. McDermott is a hard worker, I think you will see a better result this year. But i still think Bradley wins.

I went to see Ken Andrews at the double door last night, phenomenal show. And as a bonus, he was selling a live CD only available on tour, and the recording was the show i went to in March at the double door. The sound quality on that CD was great
  16. QUOTE(Shadows @ Oct 10, 2007 -> 03:23 PM) YOU b***ing? No way, this is way too fun to watch. I was just noticing, No complaints here. And FWIW, if I had to take a side, I would want Ronnie Brown at this point. I always found him to be a pretty tough runner. Marshon Lynch I dont know much about at this point, so i am keeping a fantasy football eye on him for future leagues, but he certainly looks like he has a chance to be pretty good. But the fact remains that they are both on teams that are currently in flux, so their numbers seem a bit off to me(meaning they may have much better numbers with a better team around them). But I am neither a Dolphins fan or a Bills fan, so it really doesnt matter to me either way
  17. QUOTE(Heads22 @ Oct 10, 2007 -> 01:15 PM) ISU plays UNI at home, Drake and Bradley on the road, and possibly Missouri State in Las Vegas. I'm going to be highly disappointed if we don't win those games. Need to start seeing a little improvement this year. Im thinking that if any of these teams take down ISU(the other, other ISU), its gonna be Bradley. They play tough at their place, its gonna be a hard one to win
  18. QUOTE(Steve9347 @ Oct 10, 2007 -> 11:56 AM) Then there's the guy who just doesn't say anything relevant and takes no stance, but sure likes to b**** alot. Who is b***ing?
  19. QUOTE(Shadows @ Oct 9, 2007 -> 02:48 PM) Wise up Steve, I thought you were more knowledgeable than this QUOTE(Steve9347 @ Oct 10, 2007 -> 10:49 AM) I don't think you know what you are talking about. LOL, I love when stubborn people argue on this board Well, we have established that you both feel that you dont know what you are talking about(either of you) carry on, carry on
  20. QUOTE(Heads22 @ Oct 10, 2007 -> 09:15 AM) BTW, we are soooooo going undefeated against the MVC this year. SIG BET! SIG BET!
  21. QUOTE(Gregory Pratt @ Oct 9, 2007 -> 08:53 AM) See, this is the problem with some people. They can't figure two things at once. Rodriguez AND Jeter had bad post-seasons. New York has to put all of the blame on one person, and it seems the rest of the world has to follow suit. There can be only one....... (Cue Highlander theme)
  22. QUOTE(Buehrle>Wood @ Oct 8, 2007 -> 10:04 PM) LOL Good call! Do we see DX reform? Or do they go solo for a while?
  23. QUOTE(WhiteSoxfan1986 @ Oct 8, 2007 -> 08:46 PM) Yep really? You think George drops him tonite?
  24. Does Torre get the Ax tonite?
  25. Why have the announcers all been acting like the use of video in preperation of a game is so unique and new?
