QUOTE(Steff @ Oct 28, 2007 -> 09:29 AM) Sounds like classic OCD. Ginger had an issue with an area on her rear quarter that she eventually grew out of (took almost 2 years). Putting her on doggie prozac helped for a while but she was not the same dog on it so we just dealt with it until she grew bored with trying to gnaw her own leg off. There are some sprays that will make the area taste icky. Pet MD has a decent selection of "stop biting" aids. the strange thing is that she doesnt chew, she just licks it. The vet said the problem with it is that underneath the wound is a layer of infection that wont clear unless the dog stops chewing/licking. I guess I have been trying to avoid the anti-biting aids for a while because I havent heard many good things about them. I assume you are referring to the stuff like the sour apple spray and gel.
  4. QUOTE(RME JICO @ Oct 27, 2007 -> 10:17 PM) The Tigers completely blew that one. The Cardinals had the lowest winning percentage of a World Series winner ever. The Twins in 1987 had 85 wins. They also had the lowest winning percentage of a World Series participant since the Mets in 1973 (82 wins). That is how rare that is. i guess i don't really understand what you want from the playoffs then. why is it a flawed system if the perceived best team in the playoffs doesn't win? everyone has an equal shot to win, we all know the "Once the playoffs start, anything can happen" mantra. I appreciate the fact that a team with a record that isn't as good as everyone else has a shot to win it all. the Mets failed down the stretch big time and they wouldn't have fared much better with their pitching vs the Red Sox hitting. The Phillies got handled by the Diamondbacks, who then got handled by a team that had a streak as good as the White Sox in 2005 heading into the World Series. I agree, this world series is boring and is hard to watch, but I don't think a flawed playoff system is necessarily to blame.
  5. Dont ask me where I got the cover for this french vogue magazine( ), but is the name featured predominantly on this cover the same Bruce Weber that we know as the head coach of the Illini?

Has anyone here had a problem with a dog chewing on a leg as a nervous habit? My lab has not been able to leave her leg alone to let it heal and there is a ugly raw sore on her back leg. I have taken her to multiple vets who have told me that it is a nervous condition and that we really cannot do anything because she wont leave it alone. At one point it had completely healed up because she was on medecine(a steroid)for an ear infection and a side effect was that the leg healed rather quickly, but about 8 months later she became stressed out about something and started bothering it again and it came right back. Any ideas?

QUOTE(Texsox @ Oct 28, 2007 -> 08:36 AM) My mom will keep opening cans until her cats like one. I think my mom believes the cats will starve themselves to death if she doesn't have the perfect canned meat. uggh, my mom is the same way with her cat. She has 4 different kinds of dry food that she rotates(Royal Canin, innova, Nutro, NB) and has all kinds of canned cat food in the pantry. Her cat is spoiled to the T. my dogs eat one food. Once a day. And thats it. And my vet says they are perfectly healthy(as a horse, as a matter of fact )

QUOTE(Steff @ Oct 28, 2007 -> 08:32 AM) Incorrect. But by "reciever" aren't they referring to the item that is inside the house? yep, the reciever is the box on the tv. If that lady is telling the truth, the analyst asked her if she thought to go in her house and save her reciever, and go out back and dismantle her satellite and save that too. I mean, when your house is going to burn to the ground with nothing to stop it, isnt that what you would grab? edit: I just listened to the clip again, she kind of mumbles so i cant tell if she said she needed to grab the reciever AND the satellite or the reciever FOR the satellite. either way, it doesnt surprise me. there are always idiots at call centers. i talk to people I work with every day who are idiots

QUOTE(Rex Hudler @ Oct 27, 2007 -> 10:29 PM) Especially since there are no satellite dishes with a cable company! I still stand my ground that this is not a topic for the news. This is a simple customer service issue and might have already been resolved at AT&T for all we know. No reason to take a shot at a whole corporation for what some dumbass CSR supposedly said. Note they were taking the word of a distressed homeowner in a crisis. Their interpretation of the conversation may have been different than what happened or was intended. How many people do you know that completely freak out in stressful situations and end up overexaggerating everything? Not saying this is the case or the CSR didn't make a mistake. But to try and publicly fry a company without all the facts is poor journalism. Did they try and ask AT&T what their side was? Were there other reports of the same kind of treatment? No one knows. Today's media and the internet trains people today to overreact and to act without all the facts. It seems to have been built into our culture, but that doesn't make it right. Actually, thats wrong http://www.att.com/gen/landing-pages?pid=3308 Click on the Digital TV tab, and right underneath it is this description "Get the Ultimate Digital Satellite entertainment- movies, music, sports and more with your choice of wireless home networking."

QUOTE(RockRaines @ Oct 27, 2007 -> 10:34 PM) Iams is no good. They have had a couple of bad testing policies and dogs have gotten ill. My own dog hated the stuff. He is weird, he only like Beneful. Both of the ones you are talking about are good. One of the downers with Iams was how much corn they used in the product. More corn=dogs eat more=more waste and have to buy more Iams sooner. basically the heirarchy of dog food looked something like this Innova/Holistic Dog foods/ Vet Dog foods/Royal Canin Natural balance/Nutro Science Diet eukanuba(too much protein, strange side effects) Iams(too much corn) BilJac Purina Pedigree everything else. Everything with a shape, gimmick(gravy), etc is no good
  11. QUOTE(RME JICO @ Oct 27, 2007 -> 09:07 PM) This has to be the worst. The teams are not even close. Just another flawed example of the playoff system. All a team has to do is play average ball all year, then get hot at the right time. I would've rather seen the Mets or Phillies in there. It worked for the Cardinals last year

I work at a JPMorgan Chase call center, this kind of customer service is not tolerated much anymore. We were immediately notified of what to do for people in the fire disaster area and will do as much as possible to help our customers who are out of their homes right now. Asking "Did you grab the reciever/satellite dish" after this ladies house just burned to the ground is insensitive, uninformed, and just plain stupid. And then telling her she was responsible for paying for it after she recieves her next bill, AND having a supervisor backing her up on it is pretty amazing.

A couple spoilers for The Dark Knight, nothing too bad though The white lenses are just cool. For as long as I can recall reading batman comics he had unexplanable white eyes when the mask went on. Now there is an explanation
  14. QUOTE(RockRaines @ Oct 26, 2007 -> 12:52 PM) He did do a hell of a job at Fenway. His patented drainage system alone will improve that god-awful field. Bossard was interviewed on MJ&H yesterday and he discussed his changes, among them: 1. Lowering the field 14 inches. He says this will improve sightlines. 2. The problem with drainage at wrigley is that the main drainpipe for the field is only 15 inches in diameter, and that cannot be changed. What Bossard has done to help with this is install some water storage tanks around the field so that they can handle up to 60,000 gallons of water until they begin to drain into the city drainpipes. He kept referencing a microburst raining an inch, which was the equivalent of 60,000 gallons of water. 3. Mentioned the new grass and clay from KC. 4 Also mentioned that besides the goalposts, he also found some whisky bottles that he estimated from the mid to late 1800's

QUOTE(Steff @ Oct 26, 2007 -> 05:44 PM) Natural Choice and Natural Balance seem to be rated 1 and 2 (flipping depending on who you talk to). Ironically it was a Petco employee who told me about NB. I like shopping at Pet Smart... but the associates... aint that "pet smart" i went into Petsmart with my dad to get some Frontline Flea protection for his dog and I will never forget my interaction with an associate. I walk up to this kid (he couldnt have been over 18) after looking at all of the crap products like those lame Flea-b-gone flea collars and that spray crap that never works for more than 10 minutes, and I knew what I was looking for. Me "Excuse me, do you guys have Frontline available?" Associate (Blank stare for at least a minute) "uhhh, what?" Me "Frontline for dogs, Flea protection" Associate (Another blank stare, less than a minute though) "ummmm, we dont sell dogs here." Me "What? I didnt ask if you had dogs, I was asking if you have frontline flea protection for dogs. " This is when the kid literally turns around and points to the exact same crap that I was just looking at and says "this is our flea protection stuff here" and turns back around to resume his blank stare. I then went to the manager who also didnt know what it was, and he proceded to bring me to the head veterinarian to ask HIM about what it was, where I then learned that the Vet sells it, for a way more than everyone else. I just grabbed my dad and left. I just kind of sat there thinking to myself that they dont do much training at all at Petsmart.
  16. QUOTE(Rex Kicka** @ Oct 26, 2007 -> 03:33 PM) Pastrami is spicier, no? I didnt feel it was
  17. Kyyle23 replied to Steff's topic in SLaM
I have stuck with Nutro Natural Choice for my dogs for the past 9 years. I worked at a Petco when I was in high school and they made us learn the ins and outs of dog food so we could properly sell it, and Nutro always rated the highest. No corn in the product(which means less waste), fortified with Vitamin E, and it is made from whole chicken. Of course, high school was 11 years ago, so things could have changed with the formula. But my dogs(Chocolate Lab and Basset Hound) are both in great shape and are both entering their senior years(9 and 7 years old). There is a lot of different formulas, I am pretty sure they have a mix for dogs with Allergies.
  18. I bought beef pastrami for the first time the other day, and I still cant see much of a difference between that and the roast beef I got the week earlier. Is there a difference in the preparation/spices?
  19. Nash may still be able to cut a promo, but he is garbage in the ring anymore, and thats if he stays healthy enough to make it to the ring. Its too bad he fancies himself so much that he has to be on TV as much as possible still, he could probably make a fantastic creative writer for the show if he could take himself out of the equation
  20. I cant believe they told Bossard to throw away the goalpost cement blocks. You would think some Cubs fan would buy them in a heartbeat
  21. QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Oct 25, 2007 -> 08:30 PM) Tyrus was in the Jim Beam Club the game I took in from there last July. The guy is a freak. Its like he's on a trampoline. If he learns to shoot a little bit, if he could get any kind of post game, he can be a star. He's so young and inexperienced, it will take some time. I don't believe Tyrus has been playing basketball very long. I think I read around draft time last year that he had only played organized basketball his senior year of high school and freshman year of college.
  22. I never let anyone leave my house without telling them "Drive safe". I dont know why I started saying it, but it makes me feel better after I do.
  23. QUOTE(Soxy @ Oct 25, 2007 -> 02:25 PM) I have broken one, but I didn't know I broke it until years later. Crazy thing is, I broke the bone that carries all the weight in the ankle, and never knew it. Crazy, no? Is that the same bone Frank Thomas broke repeatedly, the navicular bone? I havent broken anything yet(knock on wood). I had some close ones with my nose and my shoulder, but no breaks

QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Oct 25, 2007 -> 02:18 PM) This from another board.... While that is incredibly cool, that guy has too much time on his hands and/or an obsession. And whoever created the pumpkin and candle and white noise with morse code inside of it telling you to read a proverb......well thats just way too out there. Wow, a bible verse hidden in morse code hidden in white noise hidden in a website for a movie that wont be out for another 8 months. If the Dark Knight is anything less than spectacular, I will be surprised
