To me, I dont really see money being an issue with a player like A-Rod because of the revenue he would create, especially seeing how he would be approaching Bonds record within the next 5-7 years. And I think the impact he would have on this lineup would be devastating to opposing pitchers. Replacing Uribe's numbers with A-rods and sliding him back to short would be tremendous IMO. heck, i would even option Uribe as a supersub, since that seems to be the last time he actually had a really productive season.

QUOTE(daa84 @ Oct 18, 2007 -> 02:08 PM) the notion that kobe is a poor defender is an antiquated one...he has actually become a very strong defensive player I still wonder about him coexisting with Skiles, though
-
Hey Flaxx, I have a Coyote problem......

You know, if Kobe actually DOES become a Bull, how long do you think Skiles lasts as the head coach? Skiles is notorious for not wanting to deal with star attitudes, and doesnt cater to anyone. Kobe has been spoonfed and coddled for pretty much his entire tenure as a Laker, how would he adjust to Skiles demanding constant defense? Somehow I dont see this getting done if Deng is involved. Maybe a sign and trade with Gordon and some other pieces. If the Bulls could pair Kobe and Deng for a long period of time, the Bulls will definitely be the team to beat for a while

QUOTE(joesaiditstrue @ Oct 18, 2007 -> 02:33 AM) Just bought this game a couple days ago and wow, it's amazing. I've played quite a few BB games over the years and this one is by far the best in terms of gameplay and depth. The amount of pitches that they included in the game is staggering. Fastball (2S/4S) Slider Hard Slider Cutter Curve Slow Curve Drop Curve (?) Slurve Knuckle Curve Sinker Hard Sinker Screwball Forkball, Palmball, Change, Circle Change, Vert. Slider, Knuckleball, Split, Foshball(?), Shuuto, Hard Shuuto, Sinker You can't throw any pitch you want, using any pitcher. Each MLB pitcher has their own arsenal of pitches that are for the most part accurate to their real-life counterpart (Some exceptions include Garland not having a sinker, Danks not having a Curveball, etc) The game also keeps track of how many times you've hit a certain pitch as well as recorded an out/struck out swinging on a pitch. Even keeps track of how many times you've fouled a ball off or swung and missed, on any type of pitch It has really simple graphics, something you'd think a kid would enjoy because of its simple looks but this game is like a strategy game in terms of how much depth it has. If anyone has a Wii (I think it's out for PS2 as well), I recommend renting/buying it, definitely the best baseball game I've played Btw it doesn't use the Wii Remote's motion sensor for batting/pitching like Wii Sports baseball does, but it would be a much simpler game if it did, and I think they tried to make this game as much of a Simulator as possible with the pitch location/swing aim that it currently has Here's a review @ IGN: http://wii.ign.com/articles/825/825828p1.html I dunno how many people here play videogames (seriously/casually or whatever), but the game is fun indeed love the breakdown, but this needs to go in the Videogame catchall

Kalapse already gave you the directions to get rid of the smell. So I will add this insane skunk to the conversation

This is like the difference between the Heavyweight Championship Belt and the World Heavyweight Championship Belt. Which to choose?

QUOTE(Brian @ Oct 17, 2007 -> 09:31 PM) THE CHAMP IS HERE!!! Quite possibly the most unlikely belt in history. Seriously.

QUOTE(Shadows @ Oct 17, 2007 -> 09:14 PM) Please, that was like the Montreal Screwjob part deux There was quite strange timing on that bell being rung. Almost as if someone behind the scenes had it rung. The messageboards were all over this for months

QUOTE(Shadows @ Oct 17, 2007 -> 09:00 PM) I read on a free site that you are supposedly dropping that belt to The Critic at the next Soxtalk PPV.. I Don't know how credible that is however OMGZ!!!111!!!11 Critic is winning the belt!??!!?!?!? markmarkmark Someone needs to make a Soxtalk Belt now. This is a must

QUOTE(Brian @ Oct 17, 2007 -> 08:39 PM) It's in my contract that I don't have to job if I don't want to. thats bullsh**. Im talking to Critic and Los about this, you are going down at the next PPV my friend. And you dont even have to buy a gold membership to Wrestling Observer for that scoop

QUOTE(Brian @ Oct 17, 2007 -> 08:32 PM) TNA is brutal. Their belts mean nothing. My "Soxtalk World Heavyweight Championship" means more. Thats a pretty f***in hardcore belt there, dont mock it

QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ Oct 17, 2007 -> 02:22 PM) You said Thomas was a far better hitter in his prime than Manny, that is what I called a lie because it is. And yes Frank has drawn a few more walks, but Manny has hit for a little more power. In the end, the numbers are and pretty much always will be a wash once they both retire, and I think that's fitting since they are about even in terms of hitters once you balance out all the factors. why does it have to be a lie?

QUOTE(WhiteSoxfan1986 @ Oct 16, 2007 -> 05:49 PM) We could create a huge thread about how Mike McCaskey drove the 80's Bears into the ground. fixed

Since there is no thread about it, I was wondering what Soxtalk thought about T.I. getting busted with an arsenal fit for a 3rd world militia? When you are an ex-con who is actually making something of himself, what is the point of aqcuiring and assembling a gun collection like this that can more or less bring you down? Hobby? Paranoia? Image?

If any of you watched Inside the NFL this week, you may have seen the segment about the replacement players and specifically on the Redskins replacement team winning their 3 games leading to a championship that the professionals continued with. After the segment, Bob Costas asked the panel (Collinsworth, Marino, and Carter) about their feelings on the 1987 season. Marino responded with "I dont think Skip and Lane(players on the redskins, a focus of the segment) did anything but steal paychecks from the real NFL players who were striking and didnt make as much money as the stars" and he went on to talk down about them for a while. Im curious about Soxtalks feelings about this. Im not a union worker, so i dont have that kind of viewpoint to be angry about that sort of thing and I guess understand the feelings behind it. I work in a job where If i decide to tell my boss to pay me X amount, then he can tell me to pack my desk. Thats what I understand about my job. Maybe it is simplistic, but it is the way it is where I work. that doesnt mean i cant try and earn a raise, which I have, but demands and threats to NOT work are laughed at(ie. everyone is replaceable). Now I understand they were fighting for better contracts, benefits, etc... but I just dont understand the lasting hate towards these scabs who got about 3 weeks of fame and then disappeared. They didnt steal those paychecks, they were hired. I cant say i would turn something like that down if I had the ability and the opportunity to play a professional sport during a strike. In fact, i know I would do it in a heartbeat. thoughts?

QUOTE(sox4lifeinPA @ Oct 13, 2007 -> 08:21 AM) Christiansen's wheelhouse is apathetic and unemotional...this movie looks like a hit for him. He wasnt so bad in "Life as a House" with Kevin Kline. But like I said, that was not my mental image of Darth Vader's twisted past and younger years.

Hall was hilarious though. I thought his story of putting jericho over was pretty cool. I was also surprised when he broke down talkign about Benoit, i wouldnt think it would affect him that much

A couple of videos have hit youtube of Maroon Madness. -
This is bad for the Indians to start the series off having to dig deep into their bullpen. Man, this is a pathetic effort on Clevelands part, I thought they were gonna put some runs up off Beckett tonite.

QUOTE(FlaSoxxJim @ Oct 12, 2007 -> 01:10 PM) This thing is finally coming out? Seems like it's been in production for ever. It looks pretty coool. I'm convinced there is not much acting range toe speak of in either Christensen or Sam Jackson, but this seems like the kind of film that can surive un-nuanced acting. I agree, this movie doesnt have to be a smart movie, its all about the action. I dont expect a intense and lengthy dialogue from either Jackson or Christiansen

Why are Boers and Bernstein on the air right now talking about Weber going the underhanded route to get recruits? I only caught the tail end of the conversation, but they were definitely indicating that Weber stole a recruit from under someone else.
