  1. If the BoSox were going to play Dye 5 days a week, they were going to have to get rid of someone in the outfield. Wily Mo was probably going somewhere, but probably not the Sox, probably to the unnamed 3rd team. I wouldnt mind seeing Coco Crisp on the Southside, but thats probably doubtful
  2. Thomas hit that ball a mile straight up, and the wind swirls a lot in US Cellular. Pods looked like a complete doofus jumping for a ball that landed underneath him, but it wasnt really an error.
  3. Ha, Hawk has KWs back. "Ahah, Ill tell you what. I Know kenny willims, and he probably got someone good" Nice smash JD
  4. QUOTE(3E8 @ Jul 27, 2007 -> 07:45 PM) Nice 4-seamer there Garlands pitches have a lot of run on them right now
  5. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Jul 27, 2007 -> 04:49 PM) Given that Iguchi was traded today, Richar is probably on his way to Chicago right now. Therefore, here are what I think are Danny's final numbers for Charlotte: 133 AB's, 46 hits, 5 doubles, 4 triples, 5 home runs, 10 BB's, 4/4 SB's, 24 k's, 15 RBI, .346/.400/.556/.956 Where did he bat in the order?
  6. ozzie told reporters(so says Kerry Sayers) that Konerko got the night off because he is a little banged up and that he will be back in the lineup tomorrow. He is just getting a night off, nothing serious
  7. QUOTE(Steff @ Jul 27, 2007 -> 08:41 AM) Just read that Vick apologized to his teammates yesterday for not being there with them for "spring training." Priceless. Was that what Vick said? Or what his Jackie Chiles-esque lawyer read from his statement? Watching his lawyer in a press conference yesterday was like watching a comedy in the making, I kept waiting for the fake Pootie Tang to walk out from the background.
  8. QUOTE(SoxFan101 @ Jul 26, 2007 -> 09:42 PM) Despite all that they re-opened talks for a long term contract b4 the deadline, obviously they didnt get it done but they still re-opened talks. And he has taken the tag this early so he wont be out of game shape or anything and we will have him the whole season. Im sure they will atleast talk about an extension i just dont know the likelyhood that it gets done.... especially with the need to sign Tommie Harris longterm soon. When he hits the open market like he will next year, the Bears arent going to match what Dan Snyders rich and dumb a## is going to throw at him. And Harris is much more valuable in the scheme than Briggs is. Dont get me wrong, I like Briggs a lot, but Lovie always preaches "it starts with the front four", and we all saw how the defense sagged without Harris.
  9. QUOTE(chimpy2121 @ Jul 26, 2007 -> 09:41 PM) Base Wars....That game was so sweet. Right you are my friend, I saw the cover of the game and knew this was the one http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Base_Wars
  10. QUOTE(hitlesswonder @ Jul 26, 2007 -> 09:04 PM) Well, there was Rowand (all-star baby!). And McCarthy. And Young (although not with the Sox...). Jenks came up from the minors although he spent more time in the LAA system. And some Sox relievers have gone on th big league careers elsewhere (Rauch, Guerrier,...). Crede, Buehrle
  11. QUOTE(maggsmaggs @ Jul 26, 2007 -> 09:18 PM) hey man, we are talkin bout the same game. It was so sweet! Thats what I thought you were talking about. i didnt realize it was on Sega as well
  12. QUOTE(santo=dorf @ Jul 26, 2007 -> 07:11 PM) Just what is that? It's certainly not the Konami code. hmmmm, I remember select start at the end of that code for sure. I think your image is cut off or wrong.
  13. Me and a buddy used to play a baseball game for NES that was robots. Mecha-baseball or something, it was a blast. Players exploded when they were thrown out, pitchers and batters had special power-up swings and pitches. It was a really fun game for 12 year old Kyle
  14. QUOTE(max power @ Jul 26, 2007 -> 07:07 PM) This thread reeks of 20/20 hindsight bulls***. I'm not convinced it was a bad signing yet either. He might just need the off season or an extended break to heal up. Who really knows? Counting him out for the rest of his career would be foolish. Look at el duque. Wasnt Contreras known to be pretty much injury free before joining the Sox? I always remember Duque's durability being an well publicized issue, not so much with Contreras though. maybe I just wasnt paying attention, but until Contreras hurt his hamstring/back last year, I thought he was a very durable pitcher.
  15. QUOTE(SoxFan77 @ Jul 26, 2007 -> 05:33 PM) It easy to face the facts of reality with this club? I wish I had the optimism that you had.. I just can't see how you can be so happy with the shape we are in. right, I have displayed so much optimism here. Im so happy with the shape of this club. i should just throw my hands up and say "Oh man we suck and we will always suck", right?
  16. QUOTE(The Critic @ Jul 26, 2007 -> 08:32 AM) I don't buy Alvarez's theory. If Benoit killed his wife and son to somehow "expose the wrestling business", all that says to me is that he was sicker than I could have ever imagined, even sicker than I already think he was. He could have shone a light on the business just by killing himself and leaving drugs, notes and journals with people who would get them to the media. The concussion thing seems to have more merit, but I don't know enough about what concussions can do to you to comment on that. I don't think we'll ever know for sure. All we have is pieces of a puzzle, but we don't have all of them, so the picture will never be complete. think about what some of the ex-NFL players are going through now with the health care fight they are in the middle of. Their doctors are saying repeated hits to the head and concussions are causing dementia and rapid deterioration of brain cells. I dont remember the player that recently died, but they said his 44 year old brain looked like the brain of an old man. In the grand scale of this event, I think steroids played a very small part in it. Honestly, his signature move (the flying headbutt) probably did more damage to him than anything. If he missed that spot by an inch, it could have snapped his neck straight back and caused all kinds of brain damage.
  17. QUOTE(ChWRoCk2 @ Jul 26, 2007 -> 04:36 PM) Loved the Donkey Kong trio of games for SNES. Ken Griffey Jr Baseball was awesome too. The Simpsons game I liked was the one where Bart walked the streets jumping on those pieces of paper and youd choose between the two doors that popped up. That was a great game though I could NEVER beat it. I had that game, it was extremely hard. My favorite game was when you were Bart-zilla. I got kind of far after playing it repeatedly, but I never beat the game
  18. QUOTE(WCSox @ Jul 26, 2007 -> 05:10 PM) I'll bet that a lot of people couldn't see how 2000 would be any different than 1999... or how 1990 would be any different than 1989. No doubt that the Sox have an uphill battle, but you never know what's going to happen. At the very least, this team is going to shed over $50 million in veteran salary over the next year and a half. Even with Jose still on the books in '09, they're still going to have some financial flexibility. Its much easier to say "We suck and we will suck for a long time." There is no thought involved in it. Its easy
  19. I saw the movie Eragon with my daughter and was thoroughly disgusted. Then I had a friend tell me to read the book, because the movie completely butchered the entire plot. Im halfway through the book, and he was right, they pretty much forgot half the book, and most of the important links that connect the storyline.
  20. QUOTE(longshot7 @ Jul 26, 2007 -> 02:06 PM) any chance he resigns for 08 and beyond? Briggs feels extremely slighted about this, and feels he needs a long term deal which the Bears wouldnt give him this offseason. He has talked down about the front office, said he wouldnt play another down with the team, paraded himself around the offseason meetings like a grade A douche, and generally left a sour taste in everyones mouth. I dont think the Bears are likely to want to lock him up after this season(because like Kalapse said, the deadline passed so there can be no negotiations until after the season), and I dont think Briggs is likely to want to re-sign with the Bears, its just that simple. The Bears will move on, just like they always do.
  21. QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Jul 26, 2007 -> 10:37 AM) From the Arcade perspective. Crazy Climber was an awesome game. The original Pac Man, where you could use the pattern. Rampage was another. 1941 One of my alltime favorites, one of my first nintendo games
  22. Me and a buddy used to have a video game night on Saturdays, at his house or mine. We would rent a few games and play until our motors ran out(which was usually around 2 or 3). Some of the best games we got were Bass masters fishing games, we used to love those games. F-zero was always a good time, Military Madness for Turbo Graphx was awesome, i remember Slaughterhouse as well being a really fun game.
  23. Maybe someone can explain this to me since I really havent seen an answer and dont really watch or care for TNA, is it a federation that allows all of its wrestlers to come and go as they please within other federations and promotions? Or do they have a select few that are their own and arent allowed to wrestle elsewhere? WWE doesnt allow their wrestlers to go anywhere other than Deep South and Ohio Valley, which are WWE-owned and operated right?
  24. QUOTE(Shadows @ Jul 25, 2007 -> 07:52 PM) That partially answers my edited question.. Why so testy about Orton today? This is no different than the last couple months, and it seems you have had a few defectors over to the Orton brilliance as well.
  25. QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Jul 25, 2007 -> 07:44 PM) I don't want to turn this into an off-season thread, but whatever, I have a feeling this game thread won't be too pretty for much longer. I really beleive Williams is going to make a HUGE splash this off-season, for better or worse. I just can invision the quote "We won't stand for what happened in 2007, and this is the best way to go about it." There will be no re-build, and while my faith in Williams has gone down, I still think this team can be saved by 08. im 100 percent with you. I dont think KW is standing pat this offseason, like you said "for better or worse".
