  1. Undertaker vs Batista, Cena vs HBK for Wrestlemania, Undertaker and Batista vs Cena and HBK for Tag titles at No Way out. Interesting setup, there could be some backstabbing at the upcoming PPV
  2. QUOTE(Kalapse @ Feb 4, 2007 -> 12:42 PM) Well it is raining, I really don't see how this could hurt the Bears but I'm sure Marble mouth, Marino and the gang will come up with something. It's funny how 2 weeks ago the matchup was considered somewhat even with the Colts holding an edge and 2 weeks later ESPN is touting this as one of the most lopsided Superbowl matchups ever. Its been really awful. You would think the Bears backed into the playoffs and lucked their way to the Superbowl the way that the "analysts"(i use that term lightly with these fools) have drooled over the Colts. I know the Colts are good, but so are the Bears. When picking which RB duo each analyst liked best, Ron Jawarski said he likes Addai and Rhodes because the Bears are going to be playing catchup and the Bears RBs arent going to get alot of action. What a tool.

    Mini Blogs Anyone?

QUOTE(kyyle23 @ Feb 3, 2007 -> 11:37 AM) this would have been a nice preface to your first post I have one on my mypace that I am going to post when I get home tonite, its about my basset hound clark. Since I feel kind of lame not blogging and using Myspace to its fullest extent, I thought I would blog on something(someone) close to my heart. All of my friends know who this is(well, except for Tom). He is cute, stubborn, funny, has a mean streak, long, good-hearted, lazy, fun, and all around stinky. Yes, I am talking about Clark. So Clark has figured out how to open my fridge. We have two swinging doors to my kitchen, kind of like two pantry doors instead of a real door, and now when we leave the house, we have to tie these two doors together with a shoelace to prevent Clark from being in the kitchen when we are gone. I know, I know, totally ghetto to the max. Anyhow, Me being the resident idiot, this story ends pretty much how you expect it to end. I was in a hurry to run up to the store and get some food for dinner and get back to watch the game, so I forgot to tie the doors together. I ran up to the store, and I left at approximately 3:12 PM(for the strangest reason I checked the clock when I left) and ran up to the Dominicks Foods up the street from me. I walked in the door at 3:27 with an armful of groceries, and there is Clark, right next to the door, with that "Oh yes I did something really bad and I know I did it" slick look on his face. At this point I had no idea what was going on, other than that I knew something was up because he was acting funny. He was looking for a place to hide, but he couldnt find anything suitable, so he just kind of danced around a little bit in front of me and looked scared. I walked up the stairs and see Culprit #2, Sunny, scrambling to find her own place to hide. Something is definitely not right. I turn to my right and see that I left the kitchen door open. The first thing that runs through my mind is "They got into the garbage.". But no, that is totally wrong. They walked right past the garbage and went directly for the good stuff. Now before you ask the question "How did you know Clark opened the fridge and not Sunny?". Fair question. You have to know these dogs. Sunny has no problem being the accomplice, but I have serious doubts about her ability to be the master tactician and the true criminal based on the fact that she is a very meek and scaredy-cat dog. Clark is bold, stubborn, has a nose for good food, and he can be an asshole. The glass slipper fits this Cinderella. So, back to the story, in the 15 minutes that I was gone the dogs consumed 1 pound of raw ground beef(that I was going to make into hamburgers), about 1 pound of meat ravioli in meat mushroom sauce, and the rest of the Macaroni and cheese that I had made for lunch. In 15 minutes, all of this was consumed by two dogs. The first thing that ran through my head was when Clark initially learned how to open our refridgerator, about 4 months ago. That time he consumed 2 pounds of raw ground beef, all by himself. But we were not sure who ate it all, so we punished them both by putting them downstairs in a room by themselves for a few hours. When they finally were let upstairs they acted fine, like nothing was bothering them, so I figured the raw beef wasnt bothering them. Wrong. Clark found his normal position asleep behind my computer chair, and I was at my computer just like I am right now. I heard a strange noise behind me(a slimy sound, its the only way to describe it), turn around just in time to see Clark vomit 2 pounds of raw ground beef onto my carpet. It was like someone dropped an animal brain onto my carpet, I dont think Clark even chewed this stuff when he ate it, it still had the ripples in it. And dont even get me started on the smell, lets just say I had a "sexy" date with Oxyclean and Fabreeze. For two straight days. Through some divine intervention, it seems that the ground beef agreed with the Hound this(most recent) time. It has been a day and a half, and there have been no disastrous consiquences, so i think I am out of danger now. Anyhow, I hope you all enjoyed my first blog(ever). I enjoyed writing it. And my muse enjoyed the raw ground beef. you can view the culprit and his accomplice here, post 292 and 293
  4. QUOTE(Sonik22 @ Feb 3, 2007 -> 03:13 PM) Huge win by SIU at Wichita State! Falker came up huge even with the flu, and some of Tatum's shots were unbelievable! GO DAWGS! Agreed, Wichita St is no easy feat. Of course, SIU is 13-3 vs WSU in the past 5 years, but thats besides the point SIU is starting to put together a nice stretch run.

QUOTE(Texsox @ Feb 3, 2007 -> 10:25 AM) I was thinking of a thread of small essays, almost a mini-blog thing. this would have been a nice preface to your first post I have one on my mypace that I am going to post when I get home tonite, its about my basset hound clark.

    The Office

QUOTE(KevHead0881 @ Feb 2, 2007 -> 08:54 AM) Yah, that was hysterical. I especially liked that they blurred almost everything behind them. I don't know why I found that funny, but I did. I said the exact same thing to my wife. I wonder if the Season 3 DVD will blur all that stuff out too?

    The Office

I had the unfortunate problem of only being able to see up until Pam and Jim met each other in the break room for an awkward talk about Jim's sleeping habits. Then I had to leave and do some errands I was avoiding. Creed eating the steak like a wildman was hilarious, as was Michael bragging about how his wedding will be much more awesome than Phyllis' wedding. "This isnt the same grill that you burned your foot on, is it?" "No.......yes it is. "
  9. hey, thats my birthday..... And you can count me OUT if its 16 inch. blech
  10. QUOTE(Texsox @ Jan 31, 2007 -> 05:05 PM) Here is why Brit wasn't on the list, her demise was so predictable. Yet, it was still epic and entertaining. come on now, Tom Cruise wasnt predictable? That guy has been teetering on the edge of the loony-bin for quite some time now.
  11. QUOTE(jackie hayes @ Jan 30, 2007 -> 05:43 PM) Why is that? That's been the biggest confusion to me all along. I dont really know, maybe they just want to protect some eensy weensy semblance of integrity in the sport and leave the breeding up to a higher power. Its true that they put certain mares and certain stallions together to produce, but its no gaurantee that the mare will get fertilized. From what I have read, its really a crapshoot with horses. Cigar retired to stud a long time ago and never impregnated a mare. Ever. They put him in the ring with hundreds of mares, sent him to breeding specialists, but he couldnt get any of them pregnant. As it stands, Cigar is going to end his life without passing along any genes. I have a feeling there would be some genetic freaks out there nowadays if that rule wasnt in place though
  12. QUOTE(redandwhite @ Jan 30, 2007 -> 04:28 PM) Wow. I cringe with pain just looking at the picture. I don't know much about this and I know he was a race horse but couldn't they have just amputated his leg? I mean, he'd still be able to reproduce and pop out some real good suckers? No? Nope, Horses cannot be amputees. their entire life hangs on their ability to walk. If they put too much weight on one leg, they develop laminitis(their bone starts pulling away from their hoof), which is what eventually led to Barbaro being put down, among many other horses. I dont think there has ever been a horse with a prosthetic. And the owners wanted to stud Barbaro to make some money off of him because thoroughbreds cannot be artificially concieved
  13. QUOTE(T R U @ Jan 29, 2007 -> 09:01 PM) Man those lucky SOB's They dropped 100 and 50 dollar bills from the ceiling.. Real money I know, Vince must be feeling a little pressure to be buying off his fans like this. With the real Donald Trump in the mix the angle is kind of funny now.
  14. Haha, Melina just called Micki James a whore. Good catfight
  15. QUOTE(Jimbo @ Jan 29, 2007 -> 03:04 PM) Last 5 years at Kansas: 2 final fours 1 elite 8 1 national championship game 0 titles, comes with the territory. SIU is just another midlevel school who has no implication after the sweet 16, if you even get that far. ESPN is at the Phog on Saturday night...Prime TIme Kansas!!!
  16. QUOTE(MarlinFan84 @ Jan 29, 2007 -> 02:31 PM) Kyyle23 and Rowand44, what are your screen names at ST? Im kyyle23 everywhere I post, aside from one place(and thats because I forgot my kyyle23 password and cannot get into the acct). I think Rowand is BMull10 iirc. QUOTE(Jimbo @ Jan 29, 2007 -> 02:26 PM) do you want to take my tradition against yours....i can fight this all day long too.....i just have no army, im a one man napoleon. Im sorry I see SIU, and i say next!!! I see a nice upgrade lately, but nothing to go crazy about. yada yada yada. What has Kansas done lately besides flameout against subpar teams in the first round? We can yap at each other all day long, but stop acting pompous because you are Kansas fan, there is no need for that here. We like our conference, we admire the respect you get for your tradition in your conference, and we want to get to that level of consistency. Thats all, end of story. I have never said Kansas is overrated, why do you feel the need to dump on SIU?
  17. QUOTE(Jimbo @ Jan 29, 2007 -> 02:12 PM) for once i got your back krush, this guy is way over his head. SIU is good, they have no history, and have not done that much. IF you want to hang your hat on Virginia Tech or Arkansas, go right ahead. I Not entirely true. SIU actually has a pretty deep basketball history, a smattering of NBA players here and there, an NIT championship over Duke before the NCAA tournament was the big one. You may scoff at it, but they do have a pretty interesting history.
  18. QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Jan 29, 2007 -> 01:59 PM) Cornelius is very ahead of schedule and might actually be cleared to practice sometime in February, so we'll see what happens. I don't think anyone is "putting all their eggs into Cornelius's basket," but if he can heal from his injury he's going to be a player, just watch. You're right though, we'll see if he can get back from that injury, not easy. As far as Butler goes, ESPN isn't going to care about their scheduling issues, they want the best and most marketable matchup and right now that's definitely SIU-Butler. Now, I still wouldn't be overly shocked if we somehow get Nevada but Butler is definitely the most likely scenario imo. EDIT: Haha, you're Patoka from the other ST aren't you? If so, I've had this BB argument with your for about 2 months now, so we can continue it over there if you wish but I'll drop it here, as I'm sure most here are tired of the SIU/Valley talk. LOL, I suspected that as well, but I thought I would let it lie. IlliniKrush, I take offense to the fact that you think Rowand44 is the biggest SIU fan on this site, I have been cheering on the Salukis since I was a freshman at SIU in 96, and I had to introduce R44 to salukitalk to expand his knowledge on Saluki folklore. We are interchangeable 1 and 1A. . If anything, he has the step up on me because he is actually on Campus and I am outta there. And I agree, tSIU is pretty lame.
  19. QUOTE(RockRaines @ Jan 29, 2007 -> 01:44 PM) Finally, if this was someone's dog, they would have been put to sleep a long time ago. The suffering they put this horse through was ridiculous. agreed, this was long overdue. Even Secratariat would have been put down months ago. QUOTE(Jimbo @ Jan 29, 2007 -> 01:48 PM) Headline ESPN, Payton Manning visits Barabaro grave, the colts are heroes. Lovie Smith orders horse meat for villanous bears. LOL!
  20. QUOTE(Jimbo @ Jan 29, 2007 -> 11:00 AM) on the flipside if you were to have 4 teams make it this year and all lose first round, all argument for respect is thrown out the door. you need Dukey V's endormsment So goes the story. They need to win, this is for sure. But the league is just getting out of baby-steps and starting to stride, sometimes you take a step back and you just cannot help it. Ill tell you what though, the battle for the top of the MVC has been a heavyweight cruncher. UNI had it in hand, and came to Carbondale and lost by two, and now they are sputtering. SIU had it by themselves, and ran into a brick wall in Evansville, Creighton had a chance to grab it and lost to SIU in Omaha, Missouri State seems to have gotten caught up in their great RPI and hasnt really caught stride since they got spanked by SIU in Carbondale by 20. Its really fun (and stressful) watching this league battle it out. Im really looking forward to the Bracket Buster this year because it was predicted to be a down year for the MVC in the BB, and it is traditionally dominated by the MVC. BTW, has the Bracket Buster been announced yet?
  21. QUOTE(Jimbo @ Jan 29, 2007 -> 09:45 AM) The valley needs a final four team, without that its just a nice story every year. The Valley is making small pushes every year at Elite 8 and Final 4 status. Last year having two teams in the Sweet 16 and 4 teams in the tournament overall was pretty big for the Valley as a whole. When Bruce Weber started his plan with SIU he really had to go out and find recruits that were overlooked by other programs and could contribute. He brought in Rolen Roberts and he already had Kent Williams, but he ended up starting a Freshman (Stetson Hairston) and having the eventual 2 time offensive and defensive player of the year(Darren Brooks) as his 6th man on that Sweet 16 team, and those two carried the momentum to 5 consecutive tournament appearances. Creighton was on the way to similar success, but they stumbled hard when Korver left because their point guard ended up getting this crazy eye parasite(it literally ate away his cornea, dont ever wash your contacts with the water in Cedar falls, Iowa) and they ended up settling for NIT bids the last couple of years. Bradley could have been the one carrying the torch to the Elite 8 this year had Patrick O'Bryant stayed one more year, and from what i hear he is now rotting in the NBDL and Bradley has no consistency. Wichita St became the "darling"(I use that word sparingly, their fans think they invented the game of basketball) of the tournament last year, but they didnt count on the loss of Paul Miller hurting the team as much as it did, but they still have only made the tournament once in the last 19 years, which really isnt good. UNI always sneaks in the tournament and they are extremely solid, I think they have been in 3 straight tournaments now, and their recruiting really has taken a step up since they got their own arena to play in instead of the dome. Right now the parity in the league is what is percieved to be dragging the league down, but it really isnt the case. Evansville, Indiana St, Illinois St, and Drake have all had quality wins against OOC and against the upper tier of the MVC, and right now Evansville is making a really nice push for respect and possibly an NIT bid, even NCAA if they can somehow stun the world and win Arch Madness. I think you will see an Elite 8 team out of the MVC in the next 5 years, and possibly a final 4 team in the next 10 years. The arrow is pointing up for the MVC as a whole, and now the scheduling is starting to catch up as well. Nobody is "afraid" to play anywhere, that is plain ridiculous. But there are always disadvantages to playing an away game for any team. If Duke plays Coastal Carolina and ekes out a win at Cameron, and you can tell that CC has a good team that will be better next year, Duke may try to buy out of that away game so that they wont have to deal with the possible slide in RPI from losing to CC. They can then schedule another up and comer to play at Cameron because everyone wants "PLAYED AT DUKE" on their seasons end resume', whether they lose or win. Its just the way the business part of the college game is played now, part popularity contest(ie. RPI, SOS, rankings) and part on-the-court performance. No team can break this pattern(god knows Gonzaga has tried), they just need to play up and keep pushing the envelope until they break through and advance in the tournament.
  22. QUOTE(MinnesotaSoxFan @ Jan 28, 2007 -> 10:32 PM) Coming into the match, I thought this would be a poorly executed match. The bumps that Umaga took especially the belly splash on the announcers table looked awesome. Umaga can take some big hits. I really like ESTRADDDDDDDA! How quick was The Great Khali eliminated from the Rumble?
  23. I ordered the rumble tonite about a half hour late, and when i hit "BUY" on Comcast, it just went to a black screen. So I call comcast to see what can be done, and the guy tells me "Sorry, the systems are down right now and I cant do anything about it. Call us tomorrow and you will get a credit". Great customer service.
  24. QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Jan 28, 2007 -> 09:14 AM) Ya. They set the home/away teams before the season starts. The Salukis OOC home games next year are gonna be really tough if they draw Butler, but I really like that. If they get Butler in the bracketbuster, they already have Butler and Indiana coming to the Arena, Murray State is always in the mix, and possibly St Marys again. I hope Carlton Fay is as good as Salukitalk.net thinks he is.
