  2. QUOTE(RockRaines @ Mar 15, 2007 -> 03:08 PM) Dogs just dont taste as good as cows and pigs. /thread \reopen thread Depends on which asian country you are in. Dogs are a delicacy in plenty of places /thread
  3. Where did Molitor and Puckett do anything remotely close to changing the outcome of a game through cheating? I dont even remember either of them being labeled as cheaters to be honest with you
  4. QUOTE(Gregory Pratt @ Mar 15, 2007 -> 12:15 AM) Hypothetically: What if it comes out that, say, Greg Maddux is a crackhead. Are we going to keep him out of the hall because that's "messed up" or something? Keep him out for the kids? What if, say, it comes out that Mariano Rivera gambled on his own performances. "I'll bet I can save this game." Should he be kept out? I can't understand why Pete Rose isn't a HOFer. Because MLB wants to make a point about gambling? about lying? as if this organization of Jeff Loria's and Barry Bonds' is some living breathing allegory? I'm all for players being role-models but I don't think Kirby Puckett's violence against women should keep him from the Hall. I don't think Paul Molitor or Tim Raines' drug use should keep them from the Hall. I don't think Pete Rose' gambling should keep him from the Hall. Guess I'm just crazy. To me, using drugs for personal use or to enhance ones self for playing the game is bad, but forgiveable because these people are trying to win. With a manager betting on his own team, well, you cannot say that Rose didnt try to lose some games to keep bookies happy. And this is the big difference for me. Every manager makes questionable decisions during games(as we all see during White Sox game threads), now Rose has admitted that he gambled on the games he managed. Of course he is going to say he bet on his team to win. The guy has been lying about gambling for the last 15 years, why would he stop now? Everything that has come about in the last 5 years with Rose being "truthful" should have been done the minute he was convicted(aside from the book cash grab). Rose made this bed, now he has to lie in it.
  5. QUOTE(Brian @ Mar 14, 2007 -> 07:51 PM) He's like 25! His title reign was to get the belt back on HHH. When he is 30 or 35 and hasn't done anything, than criticize him. Orton sells moves almost as well as anyone in the WWE. It is not over selling like some guys do, but he is good at it. The problem I had with him jobbing out to Lashley last night is because the WWE is pushing Lashley as their next star, but Orton should be their next star. I'm willing to be in 5 years, Lashley will be gone and Orton will be the top heel in the business. Tallest midget maybe? He isnt really good at anything, and if he is going to be the next top heel we are in for some boring mic work, and endless tales of third generations stars/legend killers. The guy is tired, has no gimmick, and relies on the "look" and the pedigree. The next top heel in this outfit is gonna be Ken Kennedy if it is anyone. That guy gets under your skin, can wrestle, and has great mic presence. edit: the greatest thing I ever saw Randy Orton do, which I thought he was going to take off with, was give Stacy Keibler an RKO. It was totally unexpected (and funny as hell) and the crowd was pissed. If he could actually realize his potential and go heel all out, he might be good. But his mic work is just boring. QUOTE(Shadows @ Mar 14, 2007 -> 06:59 PM) Ill kill you
  6. I must be in the minority. Orton may have the look, but to me he is lacking "It". He just doesnt come off to me as anything more than a cohort. He can speak on the mic, but he never says anything that makes me take notice. Its all the same thing everytime he talks. When he is jobbing it is painfully obvious because he doestn sell moves, when he is going to win it is even more obvious because he gets really cocky. Orton has his shot, and never grabbed a hold of it.
  7. QUOTE(Y2HH @ Mar 14, 2007 -> 11:43 AM) That three page thread has nothing to do with MY franchise. This one was specifically about ME. And now there is a 1/2 page thread on it here. Well, this part of the messageboard is specifically about the White Sox, not about you. Because it is even more nonsense to see the same thing posted in 4 different threads

QUOTE(shipps @ Mar 14, 2007 -> 07:20 AM) I just realized that I really enjoy movies that have actors that were for the first part of their careers were nothing but comedy but decide to do serious movies. Will Ferrell in Stranger than Fiction,Jim Carey in Eternal Sunshine among other serious movies he done,Steve Carrell My Little Sunshine which to me really wasnt a comedy. They just have an edge to them. LOL, did the music section look like the movie section today? I agree with you though. I dont know if anyone has been watching the car commercial with an english folksy band singing "Twist, Snap.....I love you", but that is I am Kloot. And they are awesome. If you havent checked them out, you need to check out "Gods and Monsters", "Natural History", and their self titled album. Very moody, but I love their style.
  9. QUOTE(BigSqwert @ Mar 13, 2007 -> 03:28 PM) Then have AJ at SS while we're at it. because last year AJ played utility man and played SS occassionally, right? Its ST, stop it already

  12. QUOTE(HeGone33 @ Mar 13, 2007 -> 02:40 PM) Im saving this one. I might just be able to bring it back in a few months and laugh. A few months from now will determine whether Anderson is the better player? Wow, BA doesnt have much time at all
  13. The Rock just cut a great promo on Raw. It was a classic, he worked in all of his old calls.

  15. QUOTE(Brian @ Mar 12, 2007 -> 10:17 AM) I went and saw the Urge at Copper Dragon once because my friends liked them, but Penny Pinch was the place, especially on a nice night when you can chill in the beer garden. Between 1996 and 2004 I saw the Urge 12 times at Copper Dragon and Mississippi Nights in St Louis. Their shows are insane. Back to the bracket, I think SIU has a good chance of making a run, but they need to hit their shots. They are in a defensive bracket if I have ever seen one.
  16. http://www.thesouthern.com/articles/2007/0...ts/19573964.txt I miss the Copper Dragon, I have seen many many great shows and have had many many Copper Dragon brews there. Its too bad they stopped having it open regularly and only open it for special events.
  17. With his arm angles, size, movement on his pitches, and overall demeanor on the mound he kind of reminds me of the Count. Maybe he can get a few pointers on the split-finger and iron it out in the minors, and come back next spring and make a push for the big league club.
  18. QUOTE(retro1983hat @ Mar 12, 2007 -> 08:09 AM) I saw him at Second City once. He was here doing the local comedy club tour several times a year. I didn't think he was fall-on-the-floor funny, but he was a pretty good comedian. Comedians lead a very stange life. That stand-up comedian that hosted the Family Fued also killed himself. Then you look at the lives and deaths of John Belushi, Chris Farley and Phil Hartman. I dont really see how Phil Hartman is relevant. Belushi and Farley killed themselves with drugs, Jeni and Combs committed suicide, but Phil Hartman was killed by his wife who was completely nuts on Zoloft.
  19. QUOTE(Kalapse @ Mar 11, 2007 -> 11:36 PM) Let me guess, you didn't even bother to ask him about Barry Bonds. What the hell is the point of talking to Ron Kittle if you're not going to ask him the Barry Bonds story? Pussy. Haha, it crossed my mind, but you are right. I pussed out
  20. QUOTE(maggsmaggs @ Mar 12, 2007 -> 08:23 AM) If Southern Illinois and Illinois play, it might be the lowest scoring game in NCAA Tournament history. If Illinois can beat Va. Tech, which I can see happening, I would like their chances over Southern. Bruce recruited their two best players, so he knows them very well. Either way, it would be a great matchup for the two schools. He may have recruited them, but he never coached them, I wouldnt say he knows them very well. I dont know, I think SIU-Illinois would be off the hook, and SIU would have a bigger chip on their shoulder than Illinois. Beating the coach that left you is always a good motivating factor
  21. I had something kind of cool happen to me today. I met up with the guys on my softball team at the Hitting Zone in Bartlett to have a few rounds of batting practice. On our way out I saw a guy who looked familiar to me and I realized it was Ron Kittle hanging out there, I dont know what for. I went up and shook his hand and he told us some stories about when he played softball in some tournament at a blueberry festival in Indiana, it was pretty funny. He was really cool, chatted with us and wished us luck on our season.

I have really grown to appreciate Downey Jr. I saw kiss kiss bang bang for the first time the other night and I thought RDJ was fantastic, as well as Val Kilmer. Its a really funny movie
  23. QUOTE(fathom @ Mar 10, 2007 -> 05:29 PM) They were impressed that Logan K'd Thome and Mackowiak during the scrimmage. Am I allowed to joke that 90 pct of the lefties in baseball can do that? LOL, consider yourself banned. See you around WSI.
  24. QUOTE(Flash Tizzle @ Mar 10, 2007 -> 03:22 PM) If it's his arm, changing organizations won't add velocity. It'd be different if Prior were throwing 94-95 mph and experiencing failure. Watching him this last inning, he threw 88mph for several batters; but couldn't even elevate a weak breaking ball. Right on. The scrub prospects have no entered the game. Who knows how much velocity he has truly lost in the past 3 years in Cubs organization. He really hasnt pitched consistently in 3 years, including most of the past 2 years, so his velocity was bound to go down. If he ever finds it again, he is going to need to find his stones too.
