  1. damn IlliniKrush, you beat me to it. I was about to declare that Boston has put more gas cans in the pen
  2. QUOTE(redandwhite @ Oct 6, 2005 -> 08:44 PM) Regardless, I am just not of the belief that steroids and steroids alone turn you from a nuisance to one of the most productive hitters in the game. No, but I do believe it could elevate mediocre to good, and good to great.
  3. QUOTE(White Sox Josh @ Oct 6, 2005 -> 07:08 PM) LOOK THE GUY DESERVES TO BE PUNISHED! He was wrong and he cheated but move on. With what he went through during last year i think he learned his lesson. He is just a good hitter. Hate him or not you have to give him credit for not backing down when he could've just as easily quit. No, you seem to be trying to tell everyone that he is a nice guy, so we should just forget about it. I dont want to forget about it, its f***ing bulls***. I give him credit for NOTHING. He didnt learn any lesson. He didnt get punished. He got PAID. And now, he is getting rewarded. Ignore the facts all you want Josh. This comeback player of the year award is a travesty.
  4. QUOTE(White Sox Josh @ Oct 6, 2005 -> 05:55 PM) Frank used to live near Giambi and he said that he is pretty good friends with Giambi. Im sorry Josh, I had no idea that you, Frank and Jason were boys. When Jason came clean to you, and only to you, It must have been an emotional time. Me? I think that Jeremy is a swell guy, when we hung out he explained to me how Jason never really meant any harm when he consistently pumped himself up with roids and cheated the game. And since they are friends, its ok that he cheated. Get a grip Josh. The guy is a cheater. I wouldnt be surprised if he found something else to satisfy his roid jones when he was hitting .200 and all of the sudden found his power and hitting stroke.
  5. This is also the guy who, in April, promised to come to chicago and let White Sox fans rip into him if the White Sox made the playoffs. i have yet to find proof that he did this. He is quite the east coast douche.
  6. QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Oct 6, 2005 -> 04:50 PM) :banghead What has ATH come to... :headshake The Josh response to this thread has sunk ATH to a new low Im afraid
  7. QUOTE(santo=dorf @ Oct 6, 2005 -> 04:18 PM) Yeah, let's all feel sorry for that poor steroid abuser who used them to get an edge above the competition. Why don't you ask Frank what he thinks of Giambi? Frank losts million due to that cheater who f***ing lied to the entire fanbase of the MLB. Remember the ESPN interview? "Did you ever use steroids?" (Paraphrasing) "No, and that's what upsets me because I worked my butt off and people make these kinds of accusations." :headshake Dont you know, santo=dorf? Giambis brother said they regret it, so we should all forget about it and move on. Even if Jason himself apologized to the media truthfully, and not in that bulls*** roundabout way he did before the season started, he would never earn another individual award in my eyes again. He shamed himself, embarrassed the game, and still is in line to collect more than 80 million dollars.
  8. i read through the Game 1 thread in sonsofsamhorn.com I could not stop laughing. I have to admit, we Sox fans have a very large dose of humility compared to many other teams. It seems to be like a 10:1 ration of arrogant BoSox fans to realistic BoSox fans on that site. And if anyone gives the White Sox a little respect, they are scoffed at and shut out.
  9. QUOTE(SoxFanForever @ Oct 6, 2005 -> 04:08 PM) I don't know if anyone will read it but.... Richie Sexson: 2004: 23G 90AB 20R 21H 9HR 23RBI .233AVG .337OBP (Injured and out for season) 2005: 156G 558AB 99R 147H 39HR 121RBI .263AVG .369OBP good points. And we know if he was roiding, he probably would be sorry about it too.
  10. QUOTE(White Sox Josh @ Oct 6, 2005 -> 04:01 PM) no he said both of them. Look move on. He made a mistake. It's over and done. If any of you are still upset because frank got robbed of an MVP frank has moved on to. He said that Giambi deserved it. Im upset that this guy roided for years and didnt get a slap on the wrist at the very least. Franks MVP is secondary. And yet you tell me to be hypocritical and root against guys like Bonds because they arent nice guys.
  11. QUOTE(White Sox Josh @ Oct 6, 2005 -> 03:56 PM) read what his brother Jeremy says. Both have learned that Steroids are wrong and that Kids should learn the danger of using them. So all is forgiven because his brother admitted it was wrong? You are so off on this it is funny. The guy never was penalized in the very least for being part of one of the biggest steroid scandals in the history of baseball, and you want me to just say "thats allright, your brother said you guys think it was wrong. Dont do it again Jason." Ridiculous.
  12. Why does it not surprise me that Boras jumped in on this. He must be the slimiest agent in history.
  13. QUOTE(White Sox Josh @ Oct 6, 2005 -> 03:51 PM) yes and he did it with class to. He is a guy that you root for. Unlike Bonds and Sosa who are real pricks Giambi is supposed to be a very nice guy. He made a mistake. However I'm sure he regrets doing it. Ummm wrong. I am sure he regrets that it got leaked. But I am pretty sure he doesnt regret roiding his was to a 180 million dollar contract. You dont root for a roider, nice guy or not. A cheater is a cheater. And baseball just rewarded a cheater, thats bulls***.
  14. QUOTE(White Sox Josh @ Oct 6, 2005 -> 03:52 PM) I will throw out a name for you: Chris Widger. The guy was playing softball a year ago and now he is back in the big leagues. I like Widger, but that is ridiculous.
  15. I think Kevin Millwood should have gotten tremendous consideration.
  16. I cant imagine that went over well with a bunch of 12 year old english kids
  17. QUOTE(Frank the Tank 35 @ Oct 6, 2005 -> 01:41 PM) While Gammons doesn't especially impress me, he did go on the Mac, Jurko, and Harry show before the first game and confirm his White Sox choice. ....and went on BBT to un-confirm his choice, and change it to the Red Sox.
  18. I really cant remember hearing a a song after a homerun. I thought the crowd was singing it for sure. I guess I never paid attention to it.
  19. .....or its the best exit song for an opposing pitcher. Cant recall hearing that after a homerun
  20. QUOTE(knightni @ Oct 6, 2005 -> 01:24 PM) I bet that the Sox offers for Huff/Baez and the D'Rays wanting the moon; contributed to this. Among many other crazy deals that fell off the table when Lamar gave his counteroffer.

QUOTE(RockRaines @ Oct 6, 2005 -> 12:59 PM) I have a python at home. Everyone is always skeptical about why I own one, and how do they make good pets.....that is until they see it feed. I am more a chameleon and bearded dragon guy. I had a veiled chameleon, pretty cool to watch
  23. I think McCarver says things that even has simpleton fans saying "that is so obvious Tim, I cant believe you said that"
  24. Dan Patrick is inferring that the White Sox are under alot of pressure right now.
  25. QUOTE(bighurt2719 @ Oct 6, 2005 -> 11:45 AM) as someone who has worked in broadcasting for over 6 years now, i can assure you that espn doesnt care. if you pay to advertise on espn during the playoffs and pay for it, they are not going to run your commercials on another channel because of a percieved bias. the advertiser paid for baseball playoff placement on the channel the game is on, not baseball playoff placement on another channel that no one who cares about baseball would be watching. just like any other station, they would run an add for the KKK if the KKK paid enough for it. Obviously they are collecting top dollar for the placement of the ad, which whoever is paying for the commercial probably had to bid to get. This is how broadcasters make money- people pay for commercials. Do you expect them to turn down an offer to pay for a ton of advertising? ESPN or no ESPN, no station is stupid enough to turn down a s***load of money, which ESPN is getting from that author or whoever is paying for the commercials. As someone who worked in radio for over 5 years, I agree with you completely.(except for the KKK. Good analogy, but we both know there is no amount of money that the KKK could offer to get an ad on ESPN). And it is an ESPN promotion, so it really isnt an ad. It doesnt change the fact in my mind that it shows an obvious bias in what is supposed to be a national broadcast. I know how the system works, Im just b****ing. I was also getting annoyed at the constant showing of the comeback stat. ESPN was trying to will the Red Sox into a win.
