AND THAT'S A WHITE SOX WINNER
QUOTE(robin_ventura_eternal @ Jun 9, 2005 -> 07:47 AM) i hope the damn padres dont wear those camoflage uniforms. i hate those for some reason. but we need to watch out, the pads are good, they are going to win the nl west, odds are. The Pads are currently in a slump. They hadnt scored in 30 innings at their own park until they finally put 1 up on the Indians last night. I think the pitching rotation and momentum heavily favor the Sox this weekend.

why y'all so down on timo
QUOTE(thelatinoheat_30 @ Jun 8, 2005 -> 03:45 PM) i dunno why everyone hates on timo. he distracts pitchers(and yes i know he can't run well), has a strong arm, is a team player, one of the few guys that CAN actually bunt(how many times has he had a bunt base-hit w/ the bases loaded?), fundamentally sound on a team w/ out many of these types of players that knows how to play the game right, and he was without a doubt our MOST clutch hitter last year(hit .397 w/ RISP, .412 w/ RISP & 2 OUTS, .444 w/ bases loaded). this year not as good, but it's tough to find your stroke as a role player. he just needs some time, defense is at least average, not his fault ozzie put him @ 1B, but that just shows you he's a team player. and they always show him on tv in the dugout w/ the guys having fun, seems like a lot of his teammates like him, and like they say chemistry is important. having said this, i understand we need another 1B, and he might be the odd man out w/ all our OF's but he is a very good and serviceable player. I swear, everyone who defends Timo does so by saying he is good in the clubhouse and by reminiscing about his very few good moments in a Sox uniform. Look at the stats, the guy blows! I could care less that he has a good time with the rest of the team, when he is in he sucks. bottom line. He hurts the team when he plays.

Hopefully this won't be a repeat of last year!
QUOTE(Antonio Osuna @ Jun 8, 2005 -> 02:54 PM) The Cubs, sadly, are a contending team now. And they're about to get a ton better as people get off the DL. and all I can think is Who Gives a Flying F*ck?

Hopefully this won't be a repeat of last year!
But it is not last season. It is this season. And this season, I am worried about who we are playing tonite, which is the Rockies. Right now I want a sweep of the Rockies.

MLB has it in for Sox
QUOTE(longshot7 @ Jun 8, 2005 -> 02:32 PM) He's right about this tho - bring back the balanced schedule!!! and eliminate those arbitrary division designations too.... the top 4 teams in the league should be in the playoffs - having a weak division leader weakens the playoffs. so you want a balanced schedule and to eliminate all divisions(basically). Your handle describes the situation perfectly. A longshot.

QUOTE(Antonio Osuna @ Jun 8, 2005 -> 02:13 PM) When Timo Perez puts the glove up, you know he's going to make the catch. Consider Timo vindicated! When he gets the glove up, it is caught! Fantastic! Wait a second, what about when he muffed those plays at first. His glove was up, yet he didnt catch it.....very strange indeed.

why y'all so down on timo
QUOTE(TheBigHurt @ Jun 8, 2005 -> 01:56 PM) Even though the opposition here is overwhelming, I agree. Timo hasn't been in very many games this year, but those he has been in he's played well. How anyone can insult him an call him a bad player is beyond my comprehension. I've seen good stuff from him considering how little time he's gotten in. quick, give me an example of said "good stuff" without including his game-winner on Memorial day.

QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ Jun 8, 2005 -> 11:39 AM) Though this was funny, I believe Tony the Tiger's got 3 PH homers this year. He had one last night and the guys on Baseball Tonight mentioned that stat...the guy probably heard it there and used it to sound like he knew something. I knew he hit a PH homerun last night too. I still wouldnt use Clark as my ideal PH in an argument. Lenny Harris (pre-cubs) was a good one. I always liked Warren Newsome(Newson?) too.

Sox @ Rockies 6/8/05 Game Thread
QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Jun 8, 2005 -> 11:27 AM) That makes sense. Lets not get a guy who can actually hit to play third because he smirks. While Joe and his dopey expression popsup over and over and over and over and over and hits 230. why in the hell would you want to be rational about this,SS71?

QUOTE(robin_ventura_eternal @ Jun 8, 2005 -> 11:22 AM) who wants randa?? i remember when he was w/ KC, that smirk all the time on his face. for this reason alone he should never be considered to be traded for or brought in. That smirk is permanent. thats why they nickname him the joker, its just the way he looks.

MLB has it in for Sox
I dont care if Carl says the schedule is favored or not. They all play 162 games. The AL plays roughly 90 percent of the same teams, as does the NL. Dont worry about who the Twins and Yankees are playing, worry about winning your own games and all will fall into place.

Don't fret when the Sox don't sweep
Dye doesnt need to be benched for a while, his bat is alive right now.

Who would you rather keep Hurt or Jurassic
QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Jun 7, 2005 -> 02:56 PM) I'll have your stats and eat them too... Back in the early part of the year, ESPN took a look at a few of these categories in their "Hot stove heaters" feature. Some of the things they looked at were most pitches per at bat, fewest strikes taken as called strikes, etc. Uribe appears on none of them. So he's somewhere lost in the pack. A.J. and Dye get their names on a couple of the lists, if you're interested. I bet DJ fed me that stat.

White Sox Nicknames
I now appreciate Chris Berman that much more.

Who would you rather keep Hurt or Jurassic
i think one of the ESPN broadcasts brought that stat up. I wouldnt even know where to find a stat like that.
-
Who would you rather keep Hurt or Jurassic
QUOTE(DABearSoX @ Jun 7, 2005 -> 01:31 PM) Havent herd that before.....seriosuly Uribe needs to slow the f*** down and look at a few pitches Doesnt Uribe lead the league in the strangest stat ever, most pitches seen per at-bat? I think he averages an obscene number of pitches every at-bat. The only problem is that he is swinging at most of them...

Freddie Garcia
Im going to guess Contreras goes 8 strong innings with 3 or fewer runs. I think he will dominate tonite.

QUOTE(kman @ Jun 7, 2005 -> 08:29 AM) yes hopefuly b.k kim will get lit up today, but our hitters seem to be dominated by unfamiliar faces. Didnt the Sox face Kim once or twice when he was in the Boston rotation?
