QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Sep 23, 2017 -> 08:28 AM) If athletes are supposed to "stick to sports", do the same people now think POTUS should "stick to politics"? I wish the POTUS would have stuck to low rent reality tv

QUOTE (fathom @ Sep 22, 2017 -> 08:54 PM) The hands after the swing are incredibly similar Exactly. Robbie just has a slightly higher uppercut

QUOTE (Scoots @ Sep 22, 2017 -> 08:50 PM) I love that comparison It’s his idol. I love it that his hero is Cano, if we get something close to that mans production we are looking at a spectacular career

When Yoan does something like that homerun, I’m like “Yep, that is Robinson Cano”

QUOTE (greg775 @ Sep 22, 2017 -> 01:07 PM) I'm talking about sports. How many athletes have protested? I think my position is held by many athletes here. How many have been protesting during the anthem? I'm not worked up negatively about any athlete who disrespects the anthem. It's his/her right of course. I'm saying it's not the best tactic for a player in a team sport. If it was a positive tactic more would be doing it. Cmon. 8 of every 10 people I meet despise Trump and what he stands for. And most despise the police and their unnecessary horrific killings of innocent people they stopped. But this is sports. How much do you hear cliche wise from coaches and players about the team? It's not smart for one guy to take all the attention by protesting like that. OMG. Hide by King? I've done college and high school papers on him. He is one of my heroes. I need to shut up because Dr. King was a peaceful man, a Nobel Prize winner whom I respect no matter what you say that I hide behind him. Yes sir he did not! That's what I'm talking about today: looting, violence, breaking windows, disrupting traffic where people will die if they can't get to the hospital. Dr. King wanted NONE of that folks. Kudos to the Nobel voters for recognizing his efforts toward peace. It's not too much to demand a protest to be legal. Legal protests are effective as I indicated in that article I posted. Not one or two but 8 examples of King's legal protests. I'll stop now. If you think I am scum I can't do anything to change your opinion. I'm done discussing St. Louis and won't comment again until the next unfortunate incident and resulting protests. Maybe there won't be any more. We can hope the cops start behaving the right way in ALL instances. All I want is peace for all no matter if u believe it or not.

QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Sep 21, 2017 -> 12:54 PM) That same DPOY got worked by Nene in the playoffs. He wasn't even close to the best defensive player in the NBA that season. He'll always have the award though. He did, but iirc his knee was already wrecked at that point -
QUOTE (soxfan2014 @ Sep 21, 2017 -> 07:28 AM) According to Alderson, they aren't giving up on Harvey. In true Mets fashion, they will be running him all the way into the ground

QUOTE (Wanne @ Sep 20, 2017 -> 02:57 PM) I thought he was fired before they drafted Tebow? Wasn't he fired before the season ended? He's the dude that wanted to bring in Matt Cassell with him from NE...pissed off Cutler and the trade was made after the 08 season. Am I recalling that correctly? No, he drafted Tebow.

Are we allowed to get nervous about Moncada at this point?

QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Sep 20, 2017 -> 12:12 PM) Wasn't his curveball supposed to be his best pitch in the minors? I'm not disagreeing with you on how it's looked for us, but I swear that everything I've read listed it as plus plus. Maybe it hasn't come back to him since the Nats messed with his mechanics -

QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Sep 20, 2017 -> 11:48 AM) Magic Johnson became advisor before the entire front office in LA was whacked. There is nothing bad about bringing in Doug Collins, nothing. People are going to whine...its what people do best, but I give credit to where credit is due, this is a smart move by the Bulls. Collins is a smart basketball mind and extremely well respected. Him being a part of this organization does nothing but help. Maybe it only helps a little...but I don't see it hurting. I see this akin to the White Sox bringing in someone like Tony LaRussa as a special advisor. It would be a fantastic move, even if he played just a small role, that type of mind / perspective would be valuable. Up until this past season, I never whined about this front office. I even defended them. Everything they have done is to deflect responsibility off of their terrible moves and put it on everyone but themselves. This isnt Magic Johnson nor is it Tony Larussa. This is a guy who repeatedly gets canned for wearing on players and front offices. Doug Collins is a brilliant basketball mind, but this is a sweet retirement-not-retiring gig for him. He even said its about being close and being able to watch Chris coach and also watch bulls games in the stands. -

QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Sep 20, 2017 -> 11:41 AM) I don't understand how hiring Doug Collins sends you out. Doug Collins, a legitimately good dude in the NBA. Maybe not the best coach in the world (but solid and someone who knows the game), but extremely well respected and a man who has JR's ear. He also has very strong relationships in the league in general (and since everyone, rightfully so, knocks the lack of respect Gar has in this league and probably to a large extent Paxson), the fact that the Bulls are bringing in someone who has a very good reputation around league circles...is a good thing. Sure people can want Gar/Pax fired and this might actually be the first step to that. IT could also be nothing but a bunch of hot air with Collins doing nothing at all....but even then, I can't see this being a BAD move. Seriously Jason, what is Doug Collins really gonna do? Its a shield hire. Its a "hey everyone look at this guy everyone likes and has a history with this organization" hire. He isnt a scout. He isnt signing players. he isnt recruiting players. He is gonna be a figurehead and watch some games and maybe say some things in meetings every once in a while. -

QUOTE (ron883 @ Sep 20, 2017 -> 11:35 AM) "Joakim Noah the hardest worker in a long time." Yeah, ok. The guy who constantly came into camp out of shape. The guy who never added ANYTHING to his game? He relied purely on athleticism and on court effort. That is why his game tanked so hard when he lost athleticism. He tried as hard as anybody while on the court. I'll give him that. But joe was not a hard worker. The Noah stuff was kind of odd, I had no problem watching him walk last year because his knees were done. Everything else i agreed with -

QUOTE (ron883 @ Sep 20, 2017 -> 11:01 AM) As good as fulmers numbers have looked, I don't have faith in him. He'll be lucky to be a successful reliever. Id love for him to make me eat crow, but I don't forsee that happening. Well at least there is a nice line in the minors that can replace him now, whereas last year we were like "Fulmer, you are our only hope " -
QUOTE (JenksIsMyHero @ Sep 20, 2017 -> 09:19 AM) I think you're going a little overboard here. Yes, Trump is more direct and threatening about it, but it's not like that hasn't been said before by a US President. Obama used those very words (edit: albeit not in front of the UN assembly), and I think dating back to Clinton the threat of military force has always been put out there. That said, this picture summed up the whole speech to me. There is a couple shots of Nikki Haley also where you can see her thinking "oh s*** more fires to put out"
