  1. QUOTE (JUSTgottaBELIEVE @ Feb 23, 2018 -> 07:37 PM) I didn’t say YOU were but many Sox fans are... If you don’t believe in the rebuild, that’s your prerogative. The Sox have already done many things that would be deemed out of character for this front office including trading away Q and sale for high impact prospects and signing Robert. I see no value in signing Moustakas as if he kick starts the rebuild into high gear. I think they are in the game for the big money players next season
  2. QUOTE (JUSTgottaBELIEVE @ Feb 23, 2018 -> 07:29 PM) I think it’s ridiculous that fans continue to obsess over the prospect of signing Machado next winter even though the odds of that happening are slim to none. I’m not obsessing, I just am not discounting the possibility
  3. QUOTE (CaliSoxFanViaSWside @ Feb 23, 2018 -> 02:07 PM) You are being needlessly harsh bringing up Grady Sizemore. The whole argument from Lillian and others is that a long term high AAV contract will hurt future payroll considerations if the Sox want sustainable success and Moustakas may be a good fit in that 3rd base may be a harder hole to fill than others and also is a LH power bat which we also are in need of. He may also come discounted. Anyone who doesn't think a mega contract hurts roster construction and crippled other moves hasn't been paying attention. W all know the move is risky (not a crippling risk) but so are all the arguments I see thinking the Sox won't need to add a starting pitcher or a top bullpen arm or 2 and everything we need will come from the system or we can afford a mega contract. The rebuild has a slim to none chance of building a WS winner in the next 8 years or so because that's just how things go. The best laid plans of mice and men often go awry. I’m not being needlessly harsh, it is the same obsession without considering anything but the side the person hits on. This is ridiculous, Machado is an elite player and Lillian is trying to convince people that Moustakas is a better option because he balances the lineup. Moustakas is a stopgap, and nothing more. I have zero interest in the guy for many reasons, and none of them are money. The rebuild needs to continue with eyes to the future of players that fit into that window. You can tell me you believe the rebuild has a slim to none chance of producing a World Series winner, and that’s fine, but that doesn’t mean you start doing the exact same thing that got you into a rebuild which is add players that are past their prime and hope that they can somehow recapture a year or two within a long term deal.
  4. QUOTE (Lillian @ Feb 23, 2018 -> 08:52 AM) I don't understand why some of you continue to completely ignore the issue of money. If you read what I just posted, I clearly stated the difference in the cost, as being a critical component of my preference. I said; "If you take the money out of the equation, of course I would prefer Machado, to Moustakas". Ignoring money might be excused, when talking about a few dollars, but not when it involves hundreds of millions of dollars. Come on, you can’t be seriously telling me it’s about money when almost every post in this entire thread you say you prefer a “left handed, middle of the order, power bat”. I mean goddamn, don’t try and change your position to make it look like you are hoping the Sox are financially more responsible when they will have a bottom of the barrel payroll when it is time to spend on Machado
  5. The second part of Season 1 of The Tick is available on Amazon now
  6. QUOTE (Lillian @ Feb 23, 2018 -> 08:09 AM) To be more precise; I would prefer the left handed bat at $12 Million, for 5 years, to the Super Star right handed hitter, at $35 Million, for 10 years. That preference stems from the fact that we already have several potential Super Stars, and all but one of them, hit right handed. If you take the money out of the equation, of course I would prefer Machado, to Moustakas. Honestly this is sillier than you wanting Grady Sizemore batting cleanup for what seemed like 3 straight years that he didn’t play ball for anyone. Forgoing a superstar player simply because he hits right handed is more than mind boggling
  7. I don’t know what his deal is, but Greg Gabriel has gotten into twitter beef with Mike Florio, Chris B Brown, and now Aaron Leming over the last few weeks. As well as a bunch of followers
  8. Missouri governor Eric greitens led out in cuffs and booked on felony invasion of privacy
  9. QUOTE (dasox24 @ Feb 21, 2018 -> 01:04 PM) If he does fall to the Bears, I'd be all about it. The interior o-line would be nasty (if Long can stay on the field, and that now has turned into a big "if" based on the past couple years). One thing I do want to say is that personally, I would have kept Sitton until after the draft. Here's the problem I have: we basically have to sign a quality interior lineman now, and that puts us in a bind if we want to draft Quenton Nelson. Yeah, best player available, blah blah blah. Well, who are you going to sit? The starting-caliber veteran who you just gave money to, or the rookie? Either way, you're in a bad spot. Injuries happen, sure. But it's really not ideal from a roster-building standpoint to sign a good veteran and then have to make him a backup, which is what you would have to do because you don't draft Nelson at #8 just to ride the bench.... And if you don't sign a quality OG in free agency, and then Nelson is gone before #8, or someone else you have rated higher falls to #8, then you're downgrading at OG. Not the way you draw it up. With keeping Sitton for now, you ride it out. You ignore OG in free agency (except maybe a backup type). If Nelson falls and you take him (or another quality OG is there in the 2nd round), then great. See ya Sitton. People will say "oh, but it hurts the player." Bulls***. This is a business. You protect yourself. And frankly, Sitton is still pretty darn good. He'd have no trouble finding a job, though he may not make as much as he would if he could have partaken in Free Agency in March. I think they had to pick up or decline his option in the next two weeks. Couldn’t wait to decide until after the draft
  10. QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Feb 21, 2018 -> 02:29 PM) Additional charges against Manafort and Gates https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2018/fe...tion-fbi-latest Manafort, lol

  12. I think they also want to give Jordan Morgan and Erik Kush a chance to compete
  13. Guys, what do you think about a middle of the order, LH bat
  14. QUOTE (bmags @ Feb 20, 2018 -> 11:52 AM) We are what, 3.5 months removed from 500 people being shot in las vegas? "Maybe we'll consider regulating bump stocks, not banning, ehhh actually no, we'll just keep them as is." I believe it fell back on "we dont have definitive proof that he used bump stocks, so lets ignore it"
  15. QUOTE (bigruss22 @ Feb 20, 2018 -> 09:06 AM) LOL so true... Can't give those teachers a raise, but how about a gun? f***, they make teachers buy their own supplies now. Now you want to suggest that they all be trained, certified, and have a gun and everything necessary with a gun(holster, ammo, etc?) yea, go ahead and raise your hand if you think they will fund this if it ever came to pass.
  16. I wouldn’t hold your breath on Mitt saving the day
  17. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Feb 18, 2018 -> 10:12 AM) Cut him some slack. He hastily threw this tweet together because he had to attend a disco party last night. Also had to cut his visit with families of the victims short in order to attend that party. Studio 54 themed. He was reliving his personal Vietnam
  18. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Feb 17, 2018 -> 11:20 PM) Why rooting for Lindsey Vonn to fail is un-American https://sports.yahoo.com/rooting-lindsey-vo...-035939602.html Seriously caulfield what the f*** does this have to do with Donald Trump? This is olympics nonsense Trump tweets all morning long and this is what you add
  19. QUOTE (chitownsportsfan @ Feb 15, 2018 -> 11:53 AM) Not that I care, but I think Yolmer might be on the "smoothies" regime, dude is THICK: BP clip he shared a bunch of his workouts on twitter over the winter. Dude is a beast
  20. QUOTE (Brian @ Feb 15, 2018 -> 08:35 AM) Armon Fletcher is the greatest clutch player in the history of NCAA basketball. i see no evidence to the contrary
  21. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Feb 14, 2018 -> 12:32 PM) I adore Altered Carbon. First 2 eps took some time to get going, but since then it's just been f***ing wild. I really liked Kinnaman and Hildagedo, and Chris Conner(the hotel/Poe) was awesome too
  22. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Feb 14, 2018 -> 10:04 AM) Then again, it wasn't that along ago when the left was the party of letting consenting adults have affairs in private being a thing as well. Was it? I thought that brought impeachment
  23. Cohen is trying to take the fall here not because of the affair, but rather because it was noticed that campaign funds were used for the payoff, no?
  24. QUOTE (WBWSF @ Feb 13, 2018 -> 06:42 PM) What makes you think this team is going to get a big TV deal? They can't even get a radio deal now. They had a radio deal, it isn’t their fault that Cumulus claimed bankruptcy one month before the season started
  25. QUOTE (Lip Man 1 @ Feb 13, 2018 -> 07:36 PM) This is total and complete nonsense. That's the polite way of putting it. JR WILL NOT SELL, he's said that repeatedly, publicly. He is keeping this team until he is dead then his family will put it up for sale, period. End of discussion. Tax purposes basically prohibit him from selling the club while he is alive. JR is a tax expert, he knows the rules and the loopholes. Why is that so hard for you to understand, honest question...not trying to be snarky. I don't care much for JR myself, but he's bought in on the rebuild and the money WILL BE THERE starting next year. No guarantees they get anybody to sign with them but the offers will be out on the table and they will be aggressive. If you don’t want to listen, you don’t want to know
