I forgot the Sox swept them earlier. Well, this could be interesting. Hopefully Giolito pitches 7 strong and the bullpen blows it

QUOTE (Thad Bosley @ Sep 19, 2017 -> 06:49 PM) If you have nothing to add, then you have nothing to add. Would be easier if you just said that rather than engaging in your repeat act of belittling posters. Im not about to listen to what you tell me to do on this board any more than you listen to anyone else when they ask you to stop your tired act of freaking out about Reinsdorf. Have a good night Thad

QUOTE (Thad Bosley @ Sep 19, 2017 -> 06:19 PM) I didn't belittle anybody. I was responding to a point Lip made, who is one of my favorite posters on this board. He made a reference to the "good things" the owner has done for the franchise, and I'm just curious as to what he's referring to, outside of the achievements of the glorious 2005 season, to which I give the owner all his deserved acclaim in an earlier post. So nothing negative going on here. If you have anything positive to add yourself, if your thinking is in line with what maybe Lip is referring to, then by all means, add on! Oh aren't you awesome with your passive aggressive act. Can't wait for the next time you repeat it. I'm "looking forward to it"! QUOTE (Scoots @ Sep 19, 2017 -> 06:36 PM) I thought so...just a little misinterpretation going on Nah. We can call it "seen this before" much more than "misrepresentation"

Am I wrong to be surprised that every time they come back with a new bill, it is somehow worse than the previous bill that everyone found to be evil and cruel?

QUOTE (Wanne @ Sep 19, 2017 -> 04:54 PM) I keep seeing people throw out Fernando Rodney. Dude's got 38 saves on a playoff bound team. What makes people think he'd want to just ship for a rebuilding team being 40 years old?!?! Look at his career, that's all he does is jump ship lol

QUOTE (Thad Bosley @ Sep 19, 2017 -> 04:49 PM) Keep it positive, please, or at least follow along. We're are simply discussing the "good things" the owner has done for the franchise, as referenced by another poster. Would be better you add to that list and actually contribute to the discussion rather than settling into your own usual repeat mode of belittling posters. Oh you were being positive while belittling someone for appreciating JR? My bad my bad. Do continue

Hey Look, it's Thad. Repeating himself.

QUOTE (ptatc @ Sep 19, 2017 -> 02:25 PM) What makes you think there isn't something like that now. It doesn't appear so but you never know with what they can invent in a lab. I think it's more the ball right now. That's very true, but now it seems so much more spread out. Back in the 90s they had multiple players breaking 60, getting 40 was no big deal, 50 was impressive but attainable. Now it just seems like everyone has 10-20 with one guy breaking 50 and only two at the moment with 40

It's disappointing that Josh Bellamy gets to drop multiple balls every game and keep a job when other WRs keep getting cut. I know he plays ST well, but he has actually had to play a lot of WR the last two seasons and it has not been pretty

QUOTE (SoxFan2003 @ Sep 19, 2017 -> 02:31 PM) You thought "rocket man" was cute the first time you heard it? I'm not saying I did, but you know people in the White House were like "THATS GREAT"
-
QUOTE (ptatc @ Sep 19, 2017 -> 02:27 PM) He did have that bad penalty during the game. I'm sure he'll go to the practice squad. He had a penalty? I remember a bad drop, what was his penalty? False start?

wasnt there a really large earthquake off the coast of Mexico when the hurricanes were hitting a few weeks ago?

The UNGA just laughed at Trump for criticizing socialism

Have you ever had your child(usually toddler age) say something over and over because one time you thought it was cute but now it's annoying AF because they keep saying it over and over? That is "rocket man"

QUOTE (ChiSox59 @ Sep 19, 2017 -> 09:36 AM) I think he is the most intriguing guy on the list. Could probably be had for a Holland type deal. Let's hope we don't get Holland-type results Jeremy Hellickson seems like a guy who could use a little coop in his life too

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Sep 19, 2017 -> 08:58 AM) One fixem candidate might be Matt Harvey. Guys never seem to come all the way back after that Thoracic Outlet surgery. Its a shame that it happened to him so early in his career

QUOTE (BlackSox13 @ Sep 19, 2017 -> 07:26 AM) Just curious but why a six man rotation? The way Fulmer has pitched I'd go ahead and throw him in the rotation next year to see how he responds. Start the season with Rodon, Shields, Lopez, Giolito and Fulmer. When Kopech is ready we wave our final goodbye to Shields. Nice thing is if for some reason Fulmer doesn't stick as a starter, Hansen could be ready for a September call-up next year, possibly sooner. Hansen pitched 141+ innings this year so a September call-up next year would help to build his innings to the 160-175 range to help get him prepared for 2019. Probably because almost all of the rotation will be pushing their innings significantly. Good way to keep them in the rotation and add innings more gradually

The inability to throw downfield dooms the running game

QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Sep 19, 2017 -> 08:02 AM) The all time home run record for a MLB season should be broken tonight. This is incredibly hard to believe, you would think the steroid/balco era would have run away with it

Carolina went and signed Delhomme as soon as he became a free agent. He was a 5 year backup in New Orleans and took over for Peete who went 1-15 the season before. He put Tebow in after the Broncos were 1-3 and losing at halftime of the fifth game. Not really the same as refusing to play a rookie when the free agent pickup blows I am not gonna continue to argue with everyone who feels it is rushing Trubisky. Players are all different and it very well could stunt Trubiskys development for all I know. The only thing I know for a fact is that Glennon is terrible and I look forward to the day when Mitch takes over

QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Sep 18, 2017 -> 03:07 PM) 3-13 7-9 12-4 Carr's first 3 years and the Raiders' record. I would think Trubisky is in a similar spot. I totally agree. And I am not saying that Trubisky is going to make them into a playoff team this year. I just think Trubisky is the better quarterback and he will learn more playing than he will holding a clipboard QUOTE (ptatc @ Sep 18, 2017 -> 03:08 PM) Derek carr played in 43 games in college with a pro style offense. Trubiskey played 13 and didn't know how to take a snap from under center properly because of the spread offense he used in college. Big difference between the two players. I didn't say they were the same players, I said the Raiders let Carr learn the NFL from jump. That's what I want. I understand the offense wasn't the same in college but I also think Trubisky is able to process what he sees better than you think. Heck, Zack Miller said he was ready based on what he sees on practice. Multiple reports have come out saying that he is ready but the job was promised to Glennon. You don't agree, that's fine QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Sep 18, 2017 -> 03:10 PM) Can the Bears protect Trubisky the way Carr was protected though? He was only sacked like 24 times his rookie year, and he almost attempted 600 passes. That's what I'd be concerned about. And as Dick mentioned too, he'll almost certainly have a new OC anyways, he's going to be in a similar spot anyways. Glennon was actually sacked only once yesterday. And in the first game, most of the game reviews I read put the sacks on Glennon locking on to receivers and not moving from a spot I don't think Trubisky is gonna come in and turn the team into an instant contender, but I don't see what good there is in throwing Glennon out there to suck the same way he always has when Trubisky could be learning to be a better qb
-
QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Sep 18, 2017 -> 03:00 PM) Are the Bears a playoff team next year if Trubisky is ahead of the learning curve? Things change quickly for teams every season. Especially if you have a competent quarterback. The Raiders went from straight up trash to pretty good while letting Derek Carr learn on the way
-
QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Sep 18, 2017 -> 02:43 PM) I still don't see the rush. I'm pretty sure this coaching staff knows if they don't win they will be unemployed, and they see these guys a lot more than we do. If they don't think he's ready, but he is, then why are they coaching? Glennon sucks, but Mitch is probably going to suck too if he is always under pressure, and has no receivers who can get open or catch the ball. I just don't really see it much as a rush. Glennon looked like garbage in preseason, he never really looked like much in Tampa, aside from the fourth quarter against Atlanta he has been worthless. And to answer your question about the coaching staff, Fox is notorious for preferring veterans and being pretty stubborn once he decides to do something.
-
QUOTE (ptatc @ Sep 18, 2017 -> 02:11 PM) Because this team is not beating Pittsburgh or Green Bay with or without Glennon. Why subject Trubisky to either of those defenses. Pittsburgh's defense is really good and with Capers running GB's defense it's really complicated. Why subject him to those defenses? Kid has to learn what he is looking at, and neither of those defenses is better than Minnesota, who Trubisky would theoretically face twice. You can't coddle him and try and find a soft landing spot. It isn't there, this is the NFL. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Sep 18, 2017 -> 02:25 PM) To be honest, I am not quite sure what the rush to Trubisky even is about. This is a trash team that isn't going anywhere anytime soon. Why rush him in? So the Bears can win 5 games instead of 3? Eh. Let the kid learn the game from the safety of the sideline as long as possible. He has absolutely nothing to throw to anyway, so what is he going to learn? So next year there is no learning curve, he is ready to go. It isn't a rush if he is better than Glennon. And he has an offense to work with, he has good tight ends and running backs, but they are being marginalized because defenses are teeing off on a slow quarterback
