  1. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Sep 19, 2017 -> 08:58 AM) One fixem candidate might be Matt Harvey. Guys never seem to come all the way back after that Thoracic Outlet surgery. Its a shame that it happened to him so early in his career
  2. QUOTE (BlackSox13 @ Sep 19, 2017 -> 07:26 AM) Just curious but why a six man rotation? The way Fulmer has pitched I'd go ahead and throw him in the rotation next year to see how he responds. Start the season with Rodon, Shields, Lopez, Giolito and Fulmer. When Kopech is ready we wave our final goodbye to Shields. Nice thing is if for some reason Fulmer doesn't stick as a starter, Hansen could be ready for a September call-up next year, possibly sooner. Hansen pitched 141+ innings this year so a September call-up next year would help to build his innings to the 160-175 range to help get him prepared for 2019. Probably because almost all of the rotation will be pushing their innings significantly. Good way to keep them in the rotation and add innings more gradually
  3. The inability to throw downfield dooms the running game
  4. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Sep 19, 2017 -> 08:02 AM) The all time home run record for a MLB season should be broken tonight. This is incredibly hard to believe, you would think the steroid/balco era would have run away with it
  5. Carolina went and signed Delhomme as soon as he became a free agent. He was a 5 year backup in New Orleans and took over for Peete who went 1-15 the season before. He put Tebow in after the Broncos were 1-3 and losing at halftime of the fifth game. Not really the same as refusing to play a rookie when the free agent pickup blows I am not gonna continue to argue with everyone who feels it is rushing Trubisky. Players are all different and it very well could stunt Trubiskys development for all I know. The only thing I know for a fact is that Glennon is terrible and I look forward to the day when Mitch takes over
  6. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Sep 18, 2017 -> 03:07 PM) 3-13 7-9 12-4 Carr's first 3 years and the Raiders' record. I would think Trubisky is in a similar spot. I totally agree. And I am not saying that Trubisky is going to make them into a playoff team this year. I just think Trubisky is the better quarterback and he will learn more playing than he will holding a clipboard QUOTE (ptatc @ Sep 18, 2017 -> 03:08 PM) Derek carr played in 43 games in college with a pro style offense. Trubiskey played 13 and didn't know how to take a snap from under center properly because of the spread offense he used in college. Big difference between the two players. I didn't say they were the same players, I said the Raiders let Carr learn the NFL from jump. That's what I want. I understand the offense wasn't the same in college but I also think Trubisky is able to process what he sees better than you think. Heck, Zack Miller said he was ready based on what he sees on practice. Multiple reports have come out saying that he is ready but the job was promised to Glennon. You don't agree, that's fine QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Sep 18, 2017 -> 03:10 PM) Can the Bears protect Trubisky the way Carr was protected though? He was only sacked like 24 times his rookie year, and he almost attempted 600 passes. That's what I'd be concerned about. And as Dick mentioned too, he'll almost certainly have a new OC anyways, he's going to be in a similar spot anyways. Glennon was actually sacked only once yesterday. And in the first game, most of the game reviews I read put the sacks on Glennon locking on to receivers and not moving from a spot I don't think Trubisky is gonna come in and turn the team into an instant contender, but I don't see what good there is in throwing Glennon out there to suck the same way he always has when Trubisky could be learning to be a better qb
  7. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Sep 18, 2017 -> 03:00 PM) Are the Bears a playoff team next year if Trubisky is ahead of the learning curve? Things change quickly for teams every season. Especially if you have a competent quarterback. The Raiders went from straight up trash to pretty good while letting Derek Carr learn on the way
  8. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Sep 18, 2017 -> 02:43 PM) I still don't see the rush. I'm pretty sure this coaching staff knows if they don't win they will be unemployed, and they see these guys a lot more than we do. If they don't think he's ready, but he is, then why are they coaching? Glennon sucks, but Mitch is probably going to suck too if he is always under pressure, and has no receivers who can get open or catch the ball. I just don't really see it much as a rush. Glennon looked like garbage in preseason, he never really looked like much in Tampa, aside from the fourth quarter against Atlanta he has been worthless. And to answer your question about the coaching staff, Fox is notorious for preferring veterans and being pretty stubborn once he decides to do something.
  9. QUOTE (ptatc @ Sep 18, 2017 -> 02:11 PM) Because this team is not beating Pittsburgh or Green Bay with or without Glennon. Why subject Trubisky to either of those defenses. Pittsburgh's defense is really good and with Capers running GB's defense it's really complicated. Why subject him to those defenses? Kid has to learn what he is looking at, and neither of those defenses is better than Minnesota, who Trubisky would theoretically face twice. You can't coddle him and try and find a soft landing spot. It isn't there, this is the NFL. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Sep 18, 2017 -> 02:25 PM) To be honest, I am not quite sure what the rush to Trubisky even is about. This is a trash team that isn't going anywhere anytime soon. Why rush him in? So the Bears can win 5 games instead of 3? Eh. Let the kid learn the game from the safety of the sideline as long as possible. He has absolutely nothing to throw to anyway, so what is he going to learn? So next year there is no learning curve, he is ready to go. It isn't a rush if he is better than Glennon. And he has an offense to work with, he has good tight ends and running backs, but they are being marginalized because defenses are teeing off on a slow quarterback
  10. The "lets switch him out in game 5" rumor is dumb imo. Why let Glennon sink this team any further? If Trubisky is the better Qb, then you put him in. There is no easy part of the schedule, after the packers they play Minnesota and Detroit twice, Carolina, Philly and Cinci. Those aren't easy defenses! If Glennon comes out and s***s the bed in the first half again on sunday, it's gonna get hostile in Soldier Field
  11. Hey I like Bran Darbo
  12. Saw a story on twitter the other day about Parasite Eve, I had totally forgotten about that game. Kind of surprised that series didn't continue
  13. QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Sep 18, 2017 -> 12:25 PM) Very excited for Wolfenstein 2. Getting a AAA-caliber FPS title is absolutely huge for the system, although I'm sure if it keeps selling well next year's CoD will be on it. Yea i am looking forward to both. That Nintendo Direct was really heavy on RPGs
  14. I dont know if anyone just heard Jim Miller on "Spiegel and Parkins", but he is a big fan of Glennon. So much in that he brought up Tom Brady having 2 interceptions yesterday in his defense of Glennon

  16. What a garbage game. Start to finish
  17. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Sep 17, 2017 -> 01:38 PM) Yeah, it's a s***ty situation to just throw Trubisky in. There is no "good" situation. Glennon sucks, he offers nothing mid to deep range, and Tampa is just teeing off. Terrible game for the coaching staff as well as Glennon
  18. I think it is time for teams to get nervous about Moncada
  19. QUOTE (bmags @ Sep 15, 2017 -> 01:11 PM) I'm still always surprised by Moncada's speed. Speed is something where sometimes its kind of like a tier, where you are either fast, or acceptable, or paul konerko. And then some players just hit you with how much faster than "fast" you can be. When Yoan rounds third sometimes I think it's going to be like a cartoon, where he's running so fast the ground is going to start rolling up like a carpet behind him. When he stole the base in KC at the same time Abreu hit that triple, and laid on the ground for a few seconds looking around and still got up and scored....lmao that was fast
  20. QUOTE (JenksIsMyHero @ Sep 15, 2017 -> 11:50 AM) What other deal was out there btw? I love to criticize the Bulls FO as much as anyone else (I was clearly on the side arguing that trading Butler for just about ANY deal was a dumb move), but I think people are complaining about other hypothetical returns that simply were not there. I think they did the best they could and it's a pretty decent return relative to what these other teams got for their star players. That's all i'm saying. The front office pretty much said they jumped at the first offer they liked. Thats pretty bad. And when you put everything in perspective, including the Taj/McBuckets trade, they have hamstrung this team for the foreseeable future. Prior to all of this, people said that no free agents would come to the bulls(and they didnt, aside from a washed up Wade who is coasting on a golden parachute). Why does anyone think that all this cap space after next year is gonna change that? Like anyone doesnt know that the front office f***s over coaching staffs and players alike? Garbage. All of it. None of us should give the bulls the time of day this season
  21. QUOTE (JenksIsMyHero @ Sep 15, 2017 -> 11:56 AM) Nah, but you can't deny he wasn't a threat to public safety the way he was driving. he deserved to be arrested, not executed and framed
  22. Wow do the Bengals suck
  23. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Sep 14, 2017 -> 01:32 PM) Detroit's defense has been UGLY this inning. They packed it in when Verlander and Kate went south
  24. Why does Detroit gotta be dbags all the time

QUOTE (JenksIsMyHero @ Sep 14, 2017 -> 10:59 AM) I thought both were pretty terrible. Rogue One you can forgive a little since it's a one-off and it's telling a very small portion of the overall story. TFA just sucked. It was the same movie as ANH with new characters and some throw-backs to appease fans. Rey is fine but there's no depth there. And she's the deux ex machina of the Star Wars universe (the reboot portion anyway) - oh, you can pilot anything and everything and repair complex space travel engines because you scavenge parts of crashed ships? OK. I think my bigger problem is that these new movies aren't really a continuation of the old story. It's a new trilogy with some of the old characters around as fan service. That's a mistake IMO. They're going to try to piece together what happened to Luke, Leah and Han, while also telling this new (same) story about a small number of rebels defeating a large evil empire. Why not just jump right in, show a backstory for Snoke and explain why he picked up the pieces to create the First Order? Explain why Luke has to run away and not tell anyone where he's going. THEN jump into this new trilogy. They have said this is the conclusion of the Skywalker saga. It's not fan service, it's the story I love Star Wars, but those movies aren't and never were amazingly written movies. They sucked us into the story as kids and now we are finishing what was started, and hopefully they can leap off into a new saga afterwards. TFA was very similar to ANH, this is true, but I still felt that nostalgia and enjoyed it for what it was
