QUOTE (whitesoxjr27 @ Oct 26, 2016 -> 11:55 AM) Amazing how all these sports writers are picking the Cubs. Few went with Indians. Must be the popular thing to do. Its because the Cubs were probably the best team in the league during the regular season. Isnt hard to figure out

Ashton Carter Stops DoD Collecting Bonuses from CA Guard Soldiers
Kyyle23 replied to lostfan's topic in The Filibuster
This happened to my brother, he got his enlistment bonus and when he went full time they told him he owed it all back. It was a nightmare for him -
QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Oct 26, 2016 -> 10:07 AM) Just makes me really appreciate how dominant our 2005 team was. 11-1 in the post season and the one loss was by 1 run. But yet so many keep putting this Cubs team on some pedestal, making it seem like this is the greatest baseball team ever assembled. That's 4 losses already in the post season and I expect more. You know, the other team in this world series is currently on pace to match 11-1. I find it interesting that nobody is really talking about how they have just ripped through the playoffs, two incredibly good offenses. Instead it is "Well, the Cubs were losing 2-1 to the Dodgers and came back"

It makes me laugh that the Knicks are trying to force Rose into the triangle

Rose is just rounding out that super team. We will all see

QUOTE (Harry Chappas @ Oct 24, 2016 -> 04:19 PM) Late 90's Indians were better and what did that get them? You need at least a couple of guys that can throw the ball. Yea well the late 90s Indians had to deal with the late 90s Yankees, and the Cubs staff is the best in baseball. The late 90s Indians rotations were pretty much mediocre at best, the Cubs staff is no joke

QUOTE (JenksIsMyHero @ Oct 24, 2016 -> 03:21 PM) Do they though? Is that really a thing? I'm not sure if the stats back me up, but it feels like the same 5-6 teams are contenders every year. Panthers did it, Seahawks did it, Arizona did it, Indianapolis did it. How many more do you want

QUOTE (Harry Chappas @ Oct 24, 2016 -> 02:58 PM) Making it is awesome but the second you lose the joy is gone. Remember the Bears superbowl of not too long ago....how about losing the conference championship game a few years later. That is some pretty good success right there that does help the failures of the franchise over the last 31 years. The fans certainly have a good outlook for the next few years but it seems everything has gone right for them in this rebuild for it to remain chugging ahead like this. They got swept out of the NLCS last season and they turned right back around and ripped through this entire year, no love lost, right back to the World Series. I thik they will be just fine

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Oct 24, 2016 -> 02:43 PM) They have no depth, and they lack star power at all of the most important positions. They might be close to being average, but they are miles away from being a GOOD football team. I think the point is Depth can be flipped fairly quickly, and in the NFL teams frequently go from worst to playoffs. We knew they had no depth and we knew this was a rebuild, but this isnt nearly as long as a rebuild as many think it will be

QUOTE (whitesoxjr27 @ Oct 24, 2016 -> 01:08 PM) I know some people on this board disagree with me but i think a world series loss for cubs fans will be worse then bartman. Getting that far and poof you are back to square one. square one? Who are you kidding, this team is set up to compete for many years, this isnt a flash and burnout

QUOTE (iamshack @ Oct 24, 2016 -> 02:01 PM) Even if this was truly a competition, and Hoyer wasn't injured, would you guys have not brought back Cutler anyways? What Hoyer has done at times has been nice, but at the end of the day the offense hasn't been scoring touchdowns. I don't really think Hoyer has proven anything other than he can accumulate meaningless statistics between the 20's. it sure seemed like Fox was ready to go with Hoyer

QUOTE (ChiliIrishHammock24 @ Oct 24, 2016 -> 12:31 AM) Right....therefor he was acquired for this 2016 team as a Free Agent. Where is the all the confusion? no confusion, you are just being obtuse because you are Joe. He was acquired via trade, prior to any free agency, and that can be counted as part of the moves that this front office has made in the trade column

QUOTE (Knuckles @ Oct 23, 2016 -> 10:33 PM) They said something about Orioles backing out of the deal for Fowler, not sure which year tho. The Cubs resigned him after last year, yea, but they first acquired him from the Astros and then offered him arbitration after last year, which is part of the reason the Orioles backed out
-
QUOTE (ChiliIrishHammock24 @ Oct 23, 2016 -> 08:46 PM) Fowler was signed. The Cubs traded Luis Valbuena and Dan Straily for Fowler

Ettiquette question: I ordered sushi tonite and picked it up, and I did not tip when I picked up. The hostess gave me serious attitude about it, and it definitely left an impression. Should I have tipped? When I used to deliver pizza, people would pick up pizzas and I would cash them out, and I never got nor expected a tip. Is it different with picking up sushi? I'm generally a good tipper, I just learned that this was not a tip situation, at least with pizza

QUOTE (danman31 @ Oct 22, 2016 -> 05:01 PM) That was mean coming from a guy who buys everything Nintendo knowing it's not actually that good. I enjoy their games, I have never denied that. I also enjoy other systems, I just chose to stay with Nintendo because I love the first party games. Every time they come out with anything Q blasts it, for no reason other to say Nintendo sucks. I get it, people think they are always a step behind with their consoles, but they still manage to thrive. And the games are pretty good. They just haven't had the volume

QUOTE (Joshua Strong @ Oct 21, 2016 -> 02:44 PM) Inhumans isn't off the table it just doesn't have a release date because of Spider-Man and Disney gave another film its spot. I think that news and traction on Inhumans will pick back up the closer we get to Infinity Wars and certainly Guardians of the Galaxy 2. I personally think that they're waiting to see what the finished storyline for Avengers 3 and 4 are going to be before they dive back into Inhumans. I haven't been keeping up with Marvel's comics for a while, so I will check out this storyline. It's the first XMen book in how long? this story gives a little background on the past ten years storylines for X men http://screenrant.com/marvel-comics-x-men-...rrexion-reboot/

QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Oct 21, 2016 -> 06:51 PM) Nintendo: Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on you. Fool me three times, start being a software company. Quinarvy: I don't own a Nintendo products, but every time one is released I act like they stole my money

QUOTE (Joshua Strong @ Oct 21, 2016 -> 02:15 PM) Major studios partnering up isn't rare, it happens pretty regularly. I think Fox should partner with Marvel/Disney and reboot the X Men (and Fantastic Four) films in the MCU with its younger cast from Apocalypse but that would probably take a lot of time to realize because you have to figure out where mutants fit in the overall MCU and how it affects the Inhumans storyline, which I think will be the next phase of films. I'm pretty surprised that Marvel/Disney hasn't suffocated X-Men like they did Fantastic Four, in regards to how they stopped making merchandise and printing comics. Marvel/Disney even went so far to remove FF characters from new editions all previously printed pictures of the Marvel Universe. And I'm not sure why Fox wants to hold on to their Marvel properties for, because they only make money from the BO, everything else goes to Marvel/Disney. They did suffocate the X men, and only recently have they started the ResurreXion storyline, which is why many believe that they are trying to make this MCU happen. Another hint is that they took Inhumans off their schedule and basically put a "TBD" label on it.

QUOTE (greg775 @ Oct 21, 2016 -> 01:22 PM) Hmmm. I sense some strong Hillary support rather than people assuring me they think she's also a flawed candidate. Of course you do. You are just never able to point out one instance of it whenever asked, because you make it up
