The White Sox complete Rebuild Discussion Thread

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Aug 6, 2015 -> 09:24 AM) http://espn.go.com/mlb/player/gamelog/_/id...4/marcus-semien He had an 818 ops in September. Generally 23 year olds don't excel in their first go-around in the big leagues, and he was bounced around the infield throughout his minor league career. Even if he wasn't playing 2b or 3b everyday, he has a 776 ops against lhp, so he would have been the perfect platoon candidate with LaRoche...not to mention playing half his games in one of the worst hitter's parks in baseball. Oh yea, September call up numbers are to be taken at their face value. And Semien sure has proven that wrong this season with is 100 error pace and rapidly falling batting average, slugging percentage, and OPS SOMEONE CALL DAN JOHNSON -
QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Aug 6, 2015 -> 09:02 AM) As much as I enjoy watching the Royals, Lorenzo Cain hasn't been one of the five best players in baseball this season. There's another example that fits with someone like Heyward/dWAR and projecting $120-160 So Cain isnt one of the top 5 players, yet Moore is one of the top 5 GMs? And, what does Cain have to do with the Cubs? You are a strange one, Caulfield

QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Aug 6, 2015 -> 09:05 AM) To me the fact that they are investigating says felony to me. If it was simple bar fight they'd charged them with whatever and be on their way. Also the twitter rumors don't look too good either. please dish the details

QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Aug 6, 2015 -> 09:06 AM) And the funny thing is, in June and July, Semien was a worse player than Carlos Sanchez. Anyone can look it up. He was batting like .220 last season when he was sent down, and he wasnt getting at bats. It was the smart thing to do. -

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Aug 6, 2015 -> 08:48 AM) You can argue they actually gave Beckham and Vicideo too much time. The problem is pulling the plug so quickly on the likes of Semien, Micah, Erik Johnson, etc. That and all the position changes we've put guys through trying to shoehorn them into major league roster holes. Plus, it's not like Olt, Junior Lake, Baez and Alcantara set the world on fire. Bryant, Soler and Russell are all taking their lumps. Schwarber has been the most surprising to me...and there were plenty of skeptics on draft day. How was the plug pulled too quickly on these two? -
hmmm. Doesnt seem like it is felony worthy. Kind of seems like he got in a fight with someone if i were to guess anything Kane, move your family out of Buffalo. STOP GOING THERE, ITS NO GOOD FOR YOU. lol

Ok lets trace its steps back!

Maybe that pushes them to sign Mathis

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Aug 5, 2015 -> 07:12 AM) His father, Albert Sr., played baseball in Cuba before he defected to the United States.[4] Albert began training with his father when he was three years old.[1][4] He's not Hispanic? But, by that qualification, Carlos Rodon should also be listed. There's no discernible difference in Latin American results between the two organizations? Is there a difference? Last I checked pretty much all of the players you just listed are prospects, and here you are acting like they are all proven major leaguers. And i love how you are acting like the Sox are "shutout from 1/3 of the market" by deliberately not even trying to look in the Sox minor league system for any sort of Hispanic/Latin American players and then listing off multiple players on the Cubs.
-
QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Aug 4, 2015 -> 10:18 PM) Not to mention Castro, Baez, Soler, Rondon, Gleyber Torres, Almora, Eloy Jimenez...doing a much better job with Hispanic/Latin American players as well. Essentially we've been shut out of 1/3rd of the talent market...with the only exceptions Alexei and Abreu. Quintana and Garcia came from other organizations. I guess we can claim Carlos Sanchez, too. Lmao Caulfield, you sure love to make stuff up. Btw, Almora was born and raised in Florida

QUOTE (AJUribe @ Aug 4, 2015 -> 05:17 PM) Best gm in baseball. Countless of examples of great moves, when it comes to us he dealt us avi, you knew avi would never pan out simply bc DD would not have dealt him w/i his own division. The best GM in baseball? I don't think so. He is good, but there are better

QUOTE (bear_brian @ Aug 4, 2015 -> 04:37 PM) In 2007 Kenny Williams thought he had a deal in place to acquire Miguel Cabrera. I remember that very well - it was a brief but heady moment. And guess who crashed that party? Dombrowski, who agreed to take on the contract of Dontrelle Willis along with Miggy. He won, Kenny lost, and that is a good picture of the two of them. Dombrowski also offered a higher rated bunch of prospects. I don't remember Dontrelle Willis being refused by the sox and getting that deal nixed, it was just that Maybin and Miller were more attractive than Fields and others

Avila takes the job from him. Not confirmed if he resigned or was released yet

QUOTE (greg775 @ Jun 24, 2015 -> 01:26 AM) I forgot if I told you the update on my friend who cheats on his wife. He's the late 30s guy who was "f***ing" that 24 year old waitress from Hooters. Well he finally got sloppy and got caught by his wife. I never ever thought he would get caught. I guess it does prove the old adage that if you cheat you will get caught. He ended up getting some free tickets to a baseball game and gave them to his 22 year old mistress. She gave them to four people she knew. Well the 4 people went to the game and said "How did we get these tickets?" One of the people said, "Shelly's boyfriend, XX XX, got the tickets." One of the people said, "XX is he the guy who works at Sprint? My wife knows HIS WIFE." So this p**** goes home and tells his wife and she calls my friend's wife and says, "Your husband is cheating on you." She calls her husband who is in New Orleans on a weekend getaway with his mistress and says, "I know all about you cheating on me. Don't deny it." My friend's wife did not ask for a divorce. They are still together. They have 2 kids, 6 and 4. My question is: If you cheat is it inevitable you get caught? I never thought he'd get caught. He was taking girls on dates in the town he lives in and still never got caught til the baseball game. the only p**** here is your friend that is cheating on his wife. Serves him right getting busted

Hey look, it is retroactive complaining day! Everyone get out your "look into the past" goggles and find a move that worked out for another team and blast the sox for not making the same move! Yay! -
Nobody can stop a rally like the sox

QUOTE (Knackattack @ Aug 3, 2015 -> 09:04 PM) Was it a challenge? I thought the umpires were just discussing I think they asked the umps to review it, didn't challenge

QUOTE (Mike F. @ Aug 3, 2015 -> 08:30 PM) Viciedo would've caught that...bring him back up. He can't be worse than AviSuck. Lmao, the rewrite history machine has been turned on

QUOTE (iamshack @ Aug 3, 2015 -> 11:40 AM) He's been plucked more times than the rose of tralee, I'm told. and he is only 6 years in, plenty more chances to get plucked

QUOTE (LDF @ Aug 3, 2015 -> 11:33 AM) and does anyone really think that the sox will pay 15 mil for a platoon player??? It is a sunk cost. at this point you have to do what is best for the team

QUOTE (flavum @ Aug 2, 2015 -> 07:28 PM) Next 4 series: LAA 55-49, 3 vs Cle, 3 vs Bal, 3 at Sox, 4 at KC Min 54-50, 4 at Tor, 3 at Cle, 3 vs Tex, 3 vs Cle Bal 53-51, 3 at Oak, 3 at LAA, 3 at Sea, 4 vs Oak Tor 54-52, 4 vs Min, 3 at NY, 3 vs Oak, 3 vs NY TB 52-54, 3 at Sox, 3 vs NYM, 2 vs Atl, 3 at Tex Tex 51-53, 3 vs Hou, 3 at Sea, 3 at Min, 3 vs TB Det 51-54, 3 vs KC, 3 vs Bos, 3 at KC, 3 at Hou Sox 50-53, 3 vs TB, 3 at KC, 3 vs LAA, 3 vs Cubs A 9-3 run wouldn't hurt right about now. Sox need to win games, Twins to fall apart, and the Orioles to have a bad west coast trip the next two weeks. I have to admit when I looked at this and saw the Angels record, i was very surprised. I thought they would be much more than 6 games over .500
