Paul Konerko Appreciation Thread
i watched the guy hit his lowest low(03) in a white sox uniform and follow it with the highest high(05). and when it mattered, he delivered. It will be strange to not see him on the field and in a sox uniform. I also thought it was a very honorable thing for him to give JR the ball after the world series, especially one year after everyone in Boston was b****ing about who gets to keep the ball.

Addison Reed trade from DBacks' perspective
QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Sep 25, 2014 -> 02:44 AM) There has been a couple of posts earlier about Reed being old. People might be a little shocked to know Petricka is actually older than Reed by a few months. Reed is still 25. I will be shocked that anyone cares.

2014-2015 NFL Football thread
So just a small topic of discussion on a slow day: What do you feel happened to Eli Manning? Is he a victim of the team around him becoming worse, or do you hang all of it on Eli? In his two Super Bowl seasons, he was surgical down the stretch and really made other teams pay. Now, he seems just as likely to throw a pick or fumble as he is to get a completion. Just curious what you guys think, me and a friend had this discussion today

QUOTE (TRU @ Sep 24, 2014 -> 03:00 PM) I would have agreed with this until I watched it, she was pretty impressive I dont think there is one girl on the WWE roster outside of Natalya(maybe) that could take one of her hurricanranas. She looked like she had a little bit of old school Psychosis going on

2014 TV thread
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Sep 24, 2014 -> 08:13 AM) Not the most intense episode but lots of "setting up plot lines for the whole season". The tone and style of this episode was a 180 from last year. No cheesy lines, no "we are family", the CGI for the Absorbing man was really well done, and the story moved significantly. I also had a little Raiders of the Lost ark feeling when they went into the storage facility looking for the box. I am very interested to see where that metal McGuffin goes.

Addison Reed trade from DBacks' perspective
QUOTE (oldsox @ Sep 24, 2014 -> 08:28 AM) IIRC, there was only one poster here who openly disagreed with the trade in the first 24 hours of its aftermath. lets find a big cookie and give it to him, because obviously he was right

2014 TV thread
QUOTE (Chilihead90 @ Sep 23, 2014 -> 02:49 PM) I get that it changes, like I assume we will never see Mr. Freeze ever again, but it seems weird to have Barbara Gordon still exist in the new series, but have her role completely change. It's like making Robin a character where he is actually Batman's uncle. Would seem bizarre. Is Barbara Gordon the daughter of Jim? Because that's what she is supposed to be, and given that Jim is supposed to be relatively young in the series, it doesn't make sense that he would have a kid older than Bruce Wayne Edit: after reading Gordon's wiki, his wife (Barbara kean gordon)and daughter are both Barbara. His daughter becomes Batgirl. So far they are staying cannon

QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Sep 23, 2014 -> 12:48 PM) It's Alshon Jeffery. Say it with me. Even in the thread I've seen it wrong. I think the guy is good enough in his 3rd season to not have his name mispronounced anymore. It's a running joke in this thread. Say it with me, running....joke.

QUOTE (chw42 @ Sep 23, 2014 -> 11:55 AM) It still bugs me that we lost that first game. We could be sitting pretty at 3-0 right now playing with house money this week. Instead, we're likely looking at 2-2. Likely 2-2? Come on now, 2 weeks ago you were saying likely 0-3. The Packers are far from unbeatable and they have a lot of their own injury issues

2014-2015 NFL Football thread
QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Sep 23, 2014 -> 11:53 AM) It was an all out blitz and single coverage with Alshon. It was perfect and exactly what you should do given the situation. Jay read the defense and knew that was what you were supposed to do. Gruden was talking about how perfect it was as well. He did have one bad throw on his back foot, which was a floater that he underthrew. Had he made a better throw (I think the play was to Bennett), they had a shot at a big play. That and a slant to Jeffrey were his two worse throws of the game, imo (as the slant he missed to Jeffrey would have been a TD and the play to Bennett would have been a big play). He had a couple other that could have been better and he did throw a few into tight coverage but when he did, it was situations where either you were going to get a heck of a catch or an incompletion. Low pick percentage throws which is what matters. Only near picks were on plays where he was hit on the throw. And on one of them, even with the hit he threw what should have been a TD to Bennett (who dropped it...although trajectory was impacted). He talked about that specific play in his post game and said that he was waiting for Alshon to make his move, and then threw the ball only where Alshon could get it. It looked like a panic heave, but it seems like that's what he wanted to do
