  1. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Aug 6, 2008 -> 09:30 PM) I actually wasn't even thinking about you because you come on here regardless of win or loss. You swing from side to side pretty easily but you can be pretty level headed, even in extreme circumstances. There are just some on here that seem to suggest that the season was over even when the Sox were in first place because the Sox didn't pick up any pitching at the deadline when the White Sox have one of the best ERAs...like a top 5 ERA...in the entire AL, even after July. They've been banged up, out of rhythm, a victim of being on the road, and a victim of pitching in heat. You are already starting to see them pitch much, much better of late as they are readjusting themselves to their new roles (Carrasco is apparently a hell of a replacement for Masset) and a general rhythm and flow to the staff is being re-established. If Ozzie is smart, he will slowly work Linebrink back into the 8th inning role whenever he gets back and not in the first game back. Ozzie's smart enough and he knows better than that. It's just funny that some of those people haven't been here the past couple days. Maybe you meant me? Well, I was at the game, got home really late, and have had no computer access until now. There's really not much for me to add though, unless it's more praise for Danks. I am hopeful we can get more than 1 or 2 quality starts per every rotation turn as has been the case recently.
  2. Un f***ing belivable comeback tonight!!!! The Vulture strikes again.
  3. I wouldn't even be surprised if Minny's road record the rest of the way was better than our home record the rest of the way.
  4. We may need him to throw another inning. Not too many pitches so far.
  5. If this team manages to make the playoffs, Carrasco should get some sort of award. Been our only reliever who can consistently get guys out over the last month.
  6. QUOTE (Jimbo's Drinker @ Aug 5, 2008 -> 08:50 PM) Who is the starting QB for the preseason game? Orton
  7. It's so easy to win these home games. All you have to do is show up. Nevermind that you're just a bad team. At home all the problems magically go away.
  8. Another f***ing embarassment. This team is so damn pathetic with its pitching.
  9. But we're home now. All our problems are over.
  10. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Aug 4, 2008 -> 12:46 AM) I am going to jackoff all over this board if the Sox are 4.5 games in first place, because I'll be able to rub it in Frankensteiner's face and because the Sox are 4.5 games in first place. Hey, I hope you get to do this, because that would mean the Sox have a 4.5 game lead. I'd be one happy dude.
  11. QUOTE (Jake @ Aug 3, 2008 -> 04:23 PM) There's no reason to give up on this team. I agree there's no reason to give up on the team. But there are plenty of legitimate reasons why this team might not make the playoffs. Giving up on the team and being of the opinion that the team won't win the division are two completely different things.
  12. We're 12-15 in our last 27. That is not a slump at this point. With the way this season is going, I just hope Danks and Floyd don't get overused and have injuries/ineffectiveness next season.
  13. Jose Contreras' line after the first inning today: 1 IP, 2 H, 3 BB, 0 K, 3 R, 3 ER. 28 pitches -- 13 strikes. 3 ground outs. Awesome!!
  14. QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 3, 2008 -> 04:21 PM) Tigers continue to have bullpen trouble, as they lost on a bases loaded walk in the 10th It is nice to know I was wrong about the Tigers being our main competition.
  15. QUOTE (WCSox @ Aug 3, 2008 -> 04:13 PM) In Kenny's defense, he doesn't have anything to trade for top-line pitching right now. And our supposed "ace" didn't exactly help yesterday, either. Yeah, I suppose I can't blame Kenny too much because I have absolutely no knowledge of any trade discussions. It is just frustrating seeing other teams get help (Cubs, Yanks) without seemingly giving up much value. I just hope KW couldn't drum up enough interest in Fields as opposed to the other way around.
  16. The schedules are a wash. They play more road games. We play more games against winning teams. The Twins have been playing better than the Sox for the last month and a half. In addition, they've always been a 2nd half team. I think the Sox have always had a worse 2nd half record every year under Ozzie.
  17. QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 3, 2008 -> 04:08 PM) / The hitting in AAA is just terrible, why don't people realize this? Jo-Jo Reyes was amazing in the same league this year, and had an ERA over 5 with the Braves before getting sent down. Speaking of AAA, do we have any word on Count's start?
  18. Thanks again to Kenny for getting us some pitching. Good thing he spent time working on a Griffey trade.
  19. QUOTE (letsgoarow @ Aug 3, 2008 -> 03:57 PM) The white sox play 16 of the next 19 at home!!!! this thread will not last long Sox are just 5-5 at home in their last 10. That's starting right around the time our pitching went to s***. We will play better than what is happening now but will it be enough?
  20. QUOTE (Flash Tizzle @ Aug 3, 2008 -> 03:55 PM) I don't believe you would. But you would come up with an alternate reason for posting negativity as to to appease the cult of positive soxtalk members. ^^^^^^^
  21. QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 3, 2008 -> 03:55 PM) Screw it, just delete the thread if people have such a problem with it. Sorry for the confusion about my motives. I don't have any problems with a negative thread. But I think you're just wussing out.
  22. QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 3, 2008 -> 03:47 PM) Here's the reason I started this...I think it would be a good idea to put Twins related stuff into this thread. The AL Central thread has very few posts on a weekly basis. So you started a thread about the Twins and called it "Your second place Chicago White Sox"?
