  1. QUOTE (SoxFan1 @ Jul 28, 2008 -> 09:16 PM) What on earth are you babbling about? Show me where I said this and I'll gladly admit I was wrong. http://www.soxtalk.com/forums/index.php?sh...66082&st=15
  2. QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 28, 2008 -> 09:10 PM) Wait, someone actually thinks that we do? SoxFan1 did. He laughed at me when I suggested the Brewers were better.
  3. QUOTE (SoxFan1 @ Jul 28, 2008 -> 09:04 PM) Like the game CQ homered against Wilson vs Texas? Or like the 1st 2 games of the Tigers series this weekend. Yeah. You're right. Still thinking this is a win, right? Maybe you can explain to me how you think the Sox have a better starting staff than the Brewers?
  4. QUOTE (Wanne @ Jul 28, 2008 -> 08:58 PM) I don't know about that. I think Prince was friggin dead at the plate. Soto was pissed it was cut. Fielder was running all the way from 1st...and subsequently needed oxygen in the dugout. He almost passes out hitting a double. That's what I did...switched it over. Got sick of watching this s***..... If this team comes out tomorrow and craps the bed again...Ozzie BETTER go off on 'em. How are you even expecting them to win with Richard pitching tomorrow? That's kind of unrealistic right now. I'd be surprised if they didn't crap the bed. That's why this was such a huge game; the matchup favored us and we s*** down our leg from Buehrle on down. But if they do lose tomorrow, I think it's KW's turn to do something. Not much Ozzie can do when pitching gives you basically no chance to win.
  5. QUOTE (Brian @ Jul 28, 2008 -> 08:56 PM) I got Twins feed, so how is Hawk b****ing about the umps costing us this game? They made one bad call but could of been erased if Alexei didn't screw up the DP. He's not b****ing about it costing us the game but he is going on and on about that 5th run. Games was basically over at that point anyway.
  6. QUOTE (greg775 @ Jul 28, 2008 -> 08:52 PM) I'm just saying, if you say "Game Over" in the fifth, man up and ban yourself for a week if the Sox come back to win. Yeah tonight they probably are toast, but it's stupid to say it's over in the fourth or fifth inning of any game. I disagree. There are games where you can get a pretty good indication of how the game's going to go by the 4th or 5th. This was one of those games.
  7. STFU Hawk about the umpiring. Game was over when Mournau's homer went over the fence. Nice Ab Paulie.
  8. Burnett had an awesome start tonight, too. It's too bad becasue we could really use him. I have no idea why they wouldn't trade him other than thinking the prospects they would receive in trade won't be nearly as good as the two comp picks.
  9. f***ing pathetic ABs by Q and Dye. What an embarassing effort tonight from this team.
  10. We really need some help. These starting pitchers will not get us to the playoffs.
  11. QUOTE (SoxFan1 @ Jul 28, 2008 -> 08:26 PM) Every penny you and I have. Unless the MLB now plays 5 inning games, it's not over. For all intents and purposes it is over.
  12. QUOTE (SoxFan1 @ Jul 28, 2008 -> 08:23 PM) It's the 5th inning... You want to put some money on it?
  13. We are so done in this game it's not even funny. We're not even scoring a run unless one of the dumbass meatheads runs into one. Pathetic way to start a series.
  14. QUOTE (Frankensteiner @ Jul 28, 2008 -> 02:59 PM) It's certainly possible this takes place. However, I don't know if that is such a good strategy if you're a contending team where only one starting pitcher has been consistently good for the past month. If Contreras was our only weak link, I'd have no problem waiting him out but the situation is a little different. You are quick to point that Burnett's struggled this season, but he's probably been better than Contreras over the last 3 years (including Jose's 2005). He's had 3 good starts in a row and is usually really good against Boston and NYY, which not only figures to be our competition come playoff time, but also 2 teams we play a lot in the 2nd half. The other thing that I'd like to say here is that this doesn't really need to come down to Burnett v. Contreras. If Count comes back strong that's great. If that happens, you can still make an argument that Burnett is a better option than Vazquez, or a tired combo of Danks/Floyd. I think there's going to be opportunities for him to pitch here regardless of what happens with Contreras.
  15. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jul 28, 2008 -> 02:43 PM) Or maybe just maybe Contreras comes back with no elbow pain and pitches like he did through mid June when his ERA was under 3.00. It's certainly possible this takes place. 16. Hey, that'd be fine with me. I consider Burnett a better pitcher than Vazquez so he could possibly be our 2nd best pitcher at the end of the season. He's been pretty awesome against Boston and the Yankees last 3 seasons. How many guys can say that?
  17. I would take him but I don't really see a spot for him here. Even if Konerko was benched, either Thome or Dye would have to handle 1B. Quentin could not play CF.
  18. I would really like the group of people who have called Vazquez our best pitcher to chime in here. It'd be nice to see what they're thinking now.
  19. Getting another quality starting pitcher would really help this team out.
  20. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Jul 27, 2008 -> 01:49 PM) Steve Stone calling out the Sox for having Swish in CF. Says "Nick Swisher is not a center fielder". Well, he's as good of a center fielder as Vazquez is a starting pitcher.
  21. I can't say it enough, but our starting pitching just absolutely sucks right now.
  22. Just an FYI, but I've read Rodney is the new closer for Detroit.
  23. lol at AJ's first pitch popup right after Hawk was talking about needing a good, battling at bat in that situation.
  24. Wow. He actually got out of it with no runs. Good job, Javy.
