  1. Pitch 1 - Ball Pitch 2 - Swinging Strike Pitch 3 - Swinging Strike Pitch 4 - Foul Pitch 5 - Swinging Strike Thanks, Carl.
  2. Christ, great start against a pitcher with 6.94 Sept. ERA.
  3. QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Sep 26, 2005 -> 08:59 PM) With that in mind and having 3 catchers on the roster, we can pinch hit for AJ. But pinch hitting for AJ would have meant that we'd be inching closer to the unlikely event of possibly, maybe having to use the emergency catcher had the game gone another... oh, I don't know... 15 innings. It's a big no-no and one of the unwritten rules in baseball.
  4. QUOTE(fathom @ Sep 26, 2005 -> 08:57 PM) Lefties have K'd 22 times in 26 innings vs Walker Righties have K'd 6 times in 21 innings vs Walker We needed contact in that AB. Ozzie's gut told him AJ would do well. Now stop second-guessing.
  5. QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Sep 26, 2005 -> 08:50 PM) KW better get himself a #3 hitter this offseason. Why wasn't this done at the deadline? AJP deserves the worthless piece of s*** award for this game.
  6. Aaron Rowand is the worst f***ing bunter I have ever seen in my life. He sucks. I have never seen someone pop up on bunt attempts as much as him.
  7. This game has been basically gift wrapped for the Tigers. Horrible execution by AJ and we let Inge, hitting .181 in September, beat us with 2 HRs. Can you imagine the pathetic ass pitcher that would have to serve up 2 HR's to Crazy Carl at this point? And that was great use of Cotts by Ozzie. With our offense, there's a good chance we don't score for the next 7 innings so I look forward to Jenks blowing his arm out by going 3 IP later in the game.
  8. QUOTE(DaGame2584 @ Sep 26, 2005 -> 07:58 PM) Ummm.... Why Jon out there? Everybody should know by now. I don't get why everyone's so surprised.
  9. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Sep 25, 2005 -> 01:56 PM) Ozzie seriously might be a very good NL manager...just because his biggest problem lately has been leaving his starters in too long. If you have to pinch hit for your starting pitcher in the bottom of the 6th, you can't send him out for the 7th with 105 pitches and Hafner coming up. I still remember that Buehrle-pitched game in San Diego that Ozzie handled oh so well. Didn't pinch hit for Mark with a run in scoring position only to have Buehrle face 2 more batters in the bottom of that inning. Even Hawk pointed that out as a mistake.
  10. QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Sep 26, 2005 -> 08:31 AM) A lot of the additional revenue is going to be tied up giving the players we have their raises. Garland and AJ are going to get big increases. That's certainly true but we do also have some expiring contracts coming off the books. Thomas, Everett, Shingo, Timo, and Ben Davis free up about $17 M (not counting Frank's buyout, if that's really what they decide to do).
  11. I'd much rather face the Red Sox than the Yankees. Yanks' starting pitching is actually setting up pretty well. Unit is 15-8, and while the 3.90 ERA is high, his 1.14 WHIP is still lower than any of our starters (meaning that he's not finished yet). Mussina (2-0, 2.08 ERA against Sox) and Chacon (0.60 ERA in 2 starts against our Sox) have proven they can shut us down. And they've gotten Wang back who's been a very servicable starter for them.
  12. QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Sep 23, 2005 -> 03:02 PM) Numbers vs Lohse Pods .389 Gooch .500 AJ .286 Kong .125 Dye .143 Everett .500 Arow .286 Crede .152 Uribe .091 How can so many hitters have such a hard time with such a piece of s*** pitcher. Because they're mostly s***ty hitters?
  13. No worries, team chemistry got us here and it will get us through.
  14. Remember back in July when he said the Cubs and Sox were both done making trades and then 15 minutes later the Cubs got Matt Lawton?
  15. QUOTE(the southside tiger @ Aug 30, 2005 -> 09:28 PM) Buehrle has proven himself year after year as a solid starter. JG has always been mediocre and even this year he struggles against the good ones. Hes got talent, he simply lacks balls. He is scared of the hitters. The great ones are never scared. Instead they scare the hitters. Garland, unlike Buehrle, has actually done very well against the better teams. He has wins against Boston, Oakland (2), San Diego, Minnesota, and Cleveland (2).
  16. I am not seeing the game, but can anyone explain why McCarthy has been this dominant tonight? Is he finally using his changeup?
  17. Ozzie's obviously letting Buehrle go for the win here because he knows the offense has a history of putting up 7+ runs.
  18. QUOTE(jphat007 @ Aug 29, 2005 -> 08:47 PM) Wow. There is a reason an unearned run doens't go in a pitchers ERA. Please refer to my post above.
  19. QUOTE(fathom @ Aug 29, 2005 -> 08:46 PM) Aren't you taking into account earned runs, and not unearned runs also? He pitched real poor in both of those games, and even though some runs weren't earned, he still pitched bad. We get over guys like Contreras and Garland when they can't pitch over errors....yet Buehrle has been worse than anyone on the staff overcoming defensive errors. Yeah, Buehrle's WHIP against Boston is 2.09. Against Oakland it's 1.96. Sure, maybe those errors allow guys to score but he's still putting a ton of guys on base.
  20. QUOTE(jphat007 @ Aug 29, 2005 -> 08:43 PM) He gave up 3 runs to Boston in one game. He gave up 2 runs to Oakland in one game. But you are right. He got murded in all five. It's easy to make a case if you don't use facts. There are things called unearned runs that you might want to look at.
  21. QUOTE(jphat007 @ Aug 29, 2005 -> 08:38 PM) But he hasn't. Thats just the f***ing thing. Nobody bothers to look anything up. He's gotten hit around by Oakland twice and Boston once. Lots of awesome pitchers get beat around by those guys. He got murdered by Oakland 3 times and got hit around by Boston twice. Couple that with two poor showings against Minnesota and it's easy to build a case for Buehrle not pitching well against good teams.
  22. I never really thought we were all that much better than Cleveland. The large lead was pretty much a result of our easy 1st half schedule. In the 2nd half, the schedules are basically reversed. I still think we'll win the division but it wouldn't surprise me if the Indians cut it down to 1 or 2 games.
  23. QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ Aug 29, 2005 -> 08:27 PM) Because he mainly feeds off the garbage of the league. Look, I love Buehrle, but the guy hasn't performed that great this year against better teams. Wow. Yeah, plus he has a tendency to not pitch over errors and give up a lot of unearned runs. Already given up 17 this year.
  24. QUOTE(kapkomet @ Aug 29, 2005 -> 08:21 PM) So Minnesota isn't good? I know, I'm going to get the lineup sucked that night. Buehrle's ERA against Bos- 6.23 Oak- 6.05 Min- 4.09 (looks decent pretty much based on 1 start, he was poor in the other two)
