QUOTE (kyyle23 @ Apr 21, 2009 -> 08:26 AM) Im still amazed the Ball wasnt in Gordons hands to finish the game. Mully and Hanley were saying that he subbed out during the last time out and wasnt even on the floor. I just cannot understand that at all For defense I can see Ben being on the pine, but Boston actually went 3 guards with House, Allen, and Rondo, so Vinny tried to sneak Ben back in but couldn't since no time elapsed from the gameclock since he was removed. Not having a time out left for the second straight game is inexcusable for Vinny though. 2.3 seconds is ample time to get a good look if you can move the ball to half court after a timeout. The priority was stoping the Celtics from scoring, and Ben is not their best option for that, so that part I can see. -
Kaplan Cub fan who is not that good of a sports guy, but bearable. North a Sox fan who is a abomination of a person, plus not a good sports guy. Easy decision for me, even with their team allegences. I loathe ever having the misfortune of having to hear even an accidental minute of Mike North!

QUOTE (Jimbo's Drinker @ Apr 3, 2009 -> 03:04 PM) Exactly what I said, Wall is going to Duke or UK. I am sure Roy is freaking out after watching the doublemint twins totally suck in the MCD's game. The Wear twins are not expected to be impact freshman. Never were, Roy is fine with their performance, far from freaking out. They fit the mold of Deon Thompson & Alex Stephenson (different games/build) as semi projects. Solid big guys with upside, that the Carolina staff will work with and hope by their jr. & sr. years they are big time contributors. Henson, Strickland, and to a lesser degree McDonald are expected to be the "step in" guys like Ellington and Lawson were. With Thompson, Zeller, Davis, & Henson up front how in the world would the Wear twins all star game "freak out" the coach who has taken the ultimate crown in 2 of the last 5 years. The Wall contact has started. With Wall being the ultra explosive point guard that has flourished under Roy at UNC with Felton & Lawson leading the Heels to rings. Wall is interesting, but I kinda hope he gose elsewhere for his one and done year. Not Duke though. -
Carolina reigns supreme. Great Year, ole Uncle Roy and the fella's were dominant. I'm on cloud 9 right now. Thanks Heels!!!!!!! Sparty and Izzo had a great run they just didn't matchup with the Heels.

Wow, my Heels vs. Sparty for the national title. Hopefully Uncle Roy and the Heels can get one more tonight and bring the crown back to "blue heaven".

QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Mar 30, 2009 -> 08:55 PM) Henry can't go anywhere, as he's already signed a LOI. Cousins, as you stated, most definitely would probably follow Cal to Kentucky. Kentucky would probably jump to the front of the class for John Wall as well. -
QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Mar 30, 2009 -> 12:14 PM) They were the conference champion and conference tournament champion of the best conference in the country (with no close 2nd). I think they fully deserved to be the #1 overall. As for the games, if Michigan State can hit some shots, I really like their chances. I like Villanova's too. They both play defense; UConn and UNC do not. UCONN with Thabeet in the middle is THE most intimidating defensive team in the nation.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Mar 30, 2009 -> 01:02 PM) NBA draft.net is projecting him at #17, Hoopshype is projecting him at #14, draftexpress is at #18, and inside hoops has him at #10. The lowest projection I saw is #23 by mynbadraft.com That is hardly "fringe 1st round". That is more like fringe lottery pick. You kinda made my point for me though. If the guy is picked in the middle of the first round, he makes a lot more money than if he plays another year, turns into Aaron Gray, and falls out of the first round. Its a gamble either way. This years draft is not a very strong one by most accounts, there is no guarentee he will improve next year. Wayne Ellington will be a lower pick for sure then Henderson and I'm almost certain Wayne will enter the draft this year as well. -

QUOTE (ChiSox_Sonix @ Mar 30, 2009 -> 07:53 AM) nbadraft.net currently has him pegged as likely to come out early and going as high as #8 I would say Henderson is about 85% in favor of going to the NBA. Seth Curry is a reach, but hey he may be able to be a solid role player. Duke will depend much more on their incoming recruits for next year and the following years verbals as G's replacement. -
Great to see UNC make it back to the four. Lawson did not have his best game of the tourney, but he seemed to have more explosion back in running the break. "nova will be a tough task, but I'm looking forward to next weekend. It's good to see Danny Green get his groove back as well.
-
Michigan State played very well, I found myself cheering for Sparty because Lucus Oil was so predominatly Loiusville. I much prefer Louisville's style, but I was glad Sparty got it done since I was in the areaa. Uconn should be way to much though.
-
QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Mar 27, 2009 -> 08:45 PM) And can we please put toegate to rest? It's obviously not bothering Lawson one bit and probably was nothing much to get excited about from the start. But it made for 'exciting' theatre. He is not flying down the court leading the break like he did all year, he's not 100%. He is playing great with his adjustment though, couldn't ask for more is he was 100%. I am a bit concerned with the one day off between games, hopefully it won't swell up much this time after the 'zaga game. It seems like the worst is past unless he gets banged on it again.
-
Got back from Lucus Oil and the sweet 16 games. The configuration is a bit odd for basketball, but overall it was okay. I watched the Loisville blowout then left to catch the UNC game on tv, and missed the close Sparty win. 85% of the fans were from Louisville, should be similar for the elite 8 game I will head down for Sunday.

QUOTE (AssHatSoxFan @ Mar 23, 2009 -> 01:42 PM) I will be at the games Friday and Saturday with a buddy...just there to watch some good bball action Now I see that Carolina plays the last game, so I would have to go to the early matchup at Lucas Oil field then leave to get to a BW3 with the package, for the nightcap. Michigan St. would surely get the main feed in Indy I would imagine. As of right now I'm 85% sure I'm just going to pass on the Friday games. Hell I already paid for mega march madness anyway on my Directv to avoid having to watch big Carolina games around loud ass bar crowds.
-
I got word that my buddy has floor level seats for Friday and Sunday swet 16 & elite 8 games in Indy. Only bad part is he has to work Saturday morning so we will be returning late Friday/Saturday morning. Then going back on Sunday for the final. IHSAA state finals are also in Indy at Conseco on Saturday, rooms will be at a premium anyway even for Indy and it's ideasl downtown setup. I thought North Carolina played Thur./Sat. which would be perfect, but no, same days as the midwest bracket. Now I doubt I will go Friday, I would rather watch the Heels on TV then be at the Kansas/Mich. St. & 'ville/'zona contests. Maybe I will go and catch the UNC game at the downtown BW3, then walk to Lucus Oil to catch the second game.

If Ty's toe is not right then UNC can be had by planty of teams in this bracket. Hopefully he is 100% The Cuse vs. UNC is my choice here. 1st round upset Western Kentucky over Illinois 2nd round Clemson over Oklahoma
-
QUOTE (Jimbo's Drinker @ Mar 13, 2009 -> 12:57 PM) Boy, UNC was given a gift in that game. Really, 3 fouls in 19 minutes in the second half.....and the amazing defensive play by TH at the end was such a foul. Yep three fouls was about right. The play at the end could have went either way. Please Va. Tech had every chance the refs played ZERO part in them not taking advantage of a golden oppurtunity to make the NCAA. Again I almost wish they would have won, it would have meant so much more to them. Not much of a difference maker for the Heels win or lose.

QUOTE (watchtower41 @ Mar 13, 2009 -> 09:16 AM) I'll take that bet. I predicted weeks back that Kansas locked themselves into a 2 seed with the win over Oklahoma on the road, provided they DON'T bow out with a huge upset in the first round of the Big XII tournament. Not only did the ytoung Jayhawks manage to do that yesterday, but also got trounced in Lubbock last week.... and they'll still most likely grab a 2. Funny after everyone was reacting to the Izzo claim that Michigan State should be a No 1 if they were to win the Big 10 tourney, most if not all "experts" turned around and said they would give that 1 to Kansas over MSU, even though they beat them suring the reg season. All a mute point now... I've heard planty of "experts" talk about a possible Michigan State 1 seed if things break right for them. I must being missing all the Kansas as a 1 seed talk even before their loss to Baylor. They may be able to get a 2 seed, but I would have no problem accepting a wager that they will not be a 2 seed now. 3 seems right, but their is probably more of a chance that they get a 4 seed then a 2 seed. The baracketology 101 site, which had the best numbers for hitting seeds correctly last year has Kansas at a 4 seed, but they have Missouri as a 3 which is a bit shocking to me.
-
That game meant SO much more to Va. Tech. It is reminisent of last year when Tyler hit the 15 footer at the buzzer to beat them and knock them out of the NCAA tournament. Without Lawson this was a golden oppurtunity for the Hokies. I'll take the win, but I'm happy Ty is sitting. He wasn't 100% throughout the tourney last year with his bum ankle, hopefully they will do everything they can to have him at full speed this year come tournament time.
-
I would be surprised if Ty Lawson plays at all in the ACC tourney. Uncle Roy has already made comments about the NCAA being what it's about this time of year and with their seed being all but locked up it seems like the ACC tourney results will be looked at as simply a bonus if they can win it. Ty's toe has swollen up much more then it had before after he played on it with the help of pain shots for the Duke game.

QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Mar 8, 2009 -> 11:32 PM) They're a John Wall away from one of the top recruiting classes EVER! They might not lose another conference game until, like, 2012. I think it's safe to say they no longer qualify as a mid-major program. Memphis was never a mid major. They have been a power plenty of times during the years they were known as Memphis State. Louisville would battle them year in and year out. They stayed put when others left, which has surrounded them with mid major teams in their confrence, but Memphis has long been a big time program.
