Agreed, and I'd be totally happy with those acquisitions. However, in the playoffs, RJ-FG-MB looks alot better than MB-FG-OP.

I'm with you santo=dorf, people just don't understand that Randy Johnson is one of the best pitchers in major league baseball. Every time he starts, you're probably going to win. I don't know if people understand that, so I'll repeat it again. Every time that Randy Johnson starts a game for you, you are probably going to win. Some of you need to get over the fact that Rowand will not be part of this deal, Kenny won't trade him. Everett is a very good possibility, because the D-backs are looking at Burnitz, and Everett is better, i feel, defensively and offensively than Burnitz. So the D-Backs get their man.

They hit better against righties who throw better against righties. Marte may be one of the 3 best lefty relievers, but you're getting Randy Johnson in return. RJ is far more valuable. Vizcaino vs. Lefties: 129 AB - 163 BAA - 245 OBP Marte vs. Lefties: 98 AB - 143 BAA - 256 OBP Marte has a better batting average against, but his number of walks makes his obp against worse.

Vizcaino is lights out against lefties. Losing Marte doesn't hurt us as much as everyone thinks it does.

Not necessarily. Everett, Garland, and Marte adds on about 10 mill, so they're only dumping about 6. Plus, we're talking about Randy Johnson, and trading one top prospect isn't selling the farm.

Sweeney's never played a game in the show. What if he gets hurt, or just plain never makes it. You never know what's going to happen with prospects. You know that if you get RJ that you're going to beat up on the rest of the AL central. Prospects come and go, Hall of Famers only come around once in a while. Go get your Hall of Famer KW!

Granted they do want Rowand. So does every other team in the league. But they probably know that Rowand is untouchable. They'd want Everett because he's a left-handed bat with solid average and good power.

A few of my Cub friends asked me what I thought of the deal the other day, and I said I really won't know until the season ends. I asked them how they felt about having a Cub killer in their division, and they told me as long as Podsednik was out, it was fine with them. They said the Pods was disgusting and every time he got on base he was a threat to score and they would much rather face C Lee than him. It made me feel alot better about this trade.

Won't happen. This team, with RJ will dominate the central, I don't care what kind of offenses the Tigers and the Indians and the Twins have, good pitching always beats good hitting, (see 2004 world series). Try and find a 1-2-3 that's better than RJ, Garcia, Buerhle.

I don't think Arizona is assuming that they would receive Dye or Podzilla since they have just recently been acquired. Rowand is untouchable, Everett would have to be the starting outfielder, and I do believe he qualifies as one. This deal would put us over the top.

Let's say that the starting outfielder could be Everett. Garland, Everett, Marte, Sweeney, and a PTBNL. You could sign Wilson Alvarez to be the fifth starter and you would have a pitching staff like this: Johnson Garcia Buerhle Contreras Alvarez Takatsu Vizcaino Hermanson Politte Cotts Adkins The addition of Vizcaino allows you to trade Marte because he's dominant against lefties. Timo Perez would allow Everett to go. Alvarez replaces Garland. Sweeney might never even play in the majors. This deal brings one of the most dominant pitchers in the MLB and makes arguably the best 1-2-3 punch in the league. If KW gets this deal, he needs to pull the trigger!!!
