Watched the whole episode last night. The final "new rule" was fantastic.

Heh. My friend's response when I emailed him the link:

QUOTE(mr_genius @ Oct 24, 2007 -> 03:32 PM) the candidate I plan to vote for isn't preaching to everyone else about how they aren't doing enough to stop poverty. The Edwards issue is that of hypocrisy and lack of leadership. If he wasn't making "look how great I am too poor people" a centerpiece of his campaign I don't think anyone would be calling him out on his lack of generosity and his large speaking fees . So exactly how much is he supposed to give for you to be happy? 100% of his income? Is he supposed to become homeless in order for you to not think he's a hypocrite?
-
QUOTE(kapkomet @ Oct 24, 2007 -> 03:28 PM) That's not the point. John Edwards is the one with the "two americas" platform. I won't go on any further from there. Why isn't that the point? He talks about poverty AND donates thousands of dollars to charity. It's not enough according to you and mr_genius so I wonder since this is so important to you how much is your candidate donating to charity? Does your candidate even care about poverty? What do they plan to do about it? What are there stances? Do they even have a message?
-
QUOTE(mr_genius @ Oct 24, 2007 -> 03:20 PM) The amount he donates is very small compared to income and net assets. For someone who is constantly on his soap box pointing his finger at everyone else, he gives basically nothing. I donate more of my annual salary to charity than he does, so take that, John Edwards. ps. Please spare me the obligatory "but he raises awareness" post. Everyone is aware of poverty, he is grandstanding. Please tell us who you plan to vote for and the percentage of net income they donate to charity each year.

From this article.

QUOTE(Soxy @ Oct 24, 2007 -> 01:13 PM) Linkage. Has anyone heard about this site or used it? I'm intrigued. . . It seems like it could be a really good easy way to get involved and help. . . What a great idea. I think I will get involved.

QUOTE(YASNY @ Oct 24, 2007 -> 01:14 PM) Las Vegas never sleeps. They could play the games at 3 a.m. Or their indoor stadium could have the roof painting with the sky and clouds like they do in some of the hotels.
-
QUOTE(jasonxctf @ Oct 24, 2007 -> 08:44 AM) why do you think this, in general. The gambling aspect? It would have to be an indoor stadium and who the heck likes those?
-
QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Oct 24, 2007 -> 12:54 PM) Yes. Check the link, full details are there. Insane.

QUOTE(kapkomet @ Oct 24, 2007 -> 10:41 AM) Yea, because I'm sure he's some nutjob wacked out Republican and all. GMAB. Edwards is a class pig. Period. I just don't get the complete hatred you have for him. I'm by no means a fan of his but you make him out to be the worst human being on Earth.

I know this is more of a filibuster related thought but do you think FEMA is in a potential catch 22? If they act swiftly and do a great job some people could think that it's because the area affected has a lot of rich white people. That famous Kanye West line comes to mind "George Bush doesn't care about black people". And if they act just as slowly as they did in New Orleans people will say "Look, they are completely incompetent just like last time".
-
QUOTE(kapkomet @ Oct 24, 2007 -> 10:12 AM) Amen. For the information age, people as a whole are more stupid then ever before. I disagree and I'll tell you why. But first let me get back to this Jerry Springer episode.

QUOTE(Texsox @ Oct 24, 2007 -> 09:25 AM) Do they have the political smarts, or can obtain it, to be thinking, we play nice for a year, the US leaves, then we can get back to fighting with each other? Holy crap. That was a difficult sentence to read.
-
QUOTE(NorthSideSox72 @ Oct 24, 2007 -> 06:41 AM) Not to be forgotten, there are major health impacts on all of us related to climate change. Unfortunately the administration has decided that we shouldn't hear from those silly scientists and their facts. Didn't they do the same thing with that NASA guy a while back with regards to CCGW?

QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Oct 24, 2007 -> 09:05 AM) http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/21444614/ Good. Maybe we can start sending our brave men and women home soon and let them solve their own problems.
-
QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Oct 24, 2007 -> 08:04 AM) Actually, only so much. It was covered by the local newspaper, and that is pretty much it. I haven't seen it covered by any of the traditional large news outlets. But people only want to hear about Brittany and Paris Hilton....and Dumbledore's (sp?) sexual orientation.
-
QUOTE(Jenksismyb**** @ Oct 24, 2007 -> 09:00 AM) It's really not that funny to get 18-34 year olds voting because they think you're good for a laugh. Then the "real" candidates need to do a better job of inspiring 18-34 year olds to vote for them.
-
QUOTE(mr_genius @ Oct 23, 2007 -> 03:28 PM) I think it could be. If thats the case, then it will be in the media and rightfully so. But it should get coverage, even if it's turns out not to be them IMO. The fact that the story was posted from a news article shows that the media is covering it.
-
QUOTE(mr_genius @ Oct 23, 2007 -> 03:11 PM) yea right, that is very unlikely. what if those some situations were the reasons behind those stupid nooses being hung on doors? the media won't cover this because they are afraid it will be one of these far-left activists that they try to protect. I'm glad you're not a judge. You be calling for the death penalty with no evidence in a case.
