    Snowmageddon 2011

QUOTE (Iwritecode @ Jan 31, 2011 -> 03:27 PM) I don't have a sidewalk in front of my house. Just a walk to my driveway. My dogs stay in the house and/or backyard. Regular salt for me. Salt shaker from the kitchen table?
  3. QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Jan 31, 2011 -> 03:26 PM) A quote like that makes me sad to be in the same profession as the Judge because it shows a complete fundamental lack of understanding about the Boston Tea Party. Its not that the tax itself that people were against,it was the "NO TAXATION WITHOUT REPRESENTATION." Unlike the current US govt, the colonials did not have representation in the British parliament. The entire Revolutionary War was over the fact that we did not have representation in parliament and therefore the tax was unfair because the British were taxing American colonists and the colonists had no real rights or representation in the British govt. Now lets apply those facts to the current situation. The Health Care bill was passed by the US congress, which is made up of (wait for it), Representatives. Thus when the Health Care Bill was passed, there was representation for the people and thus distinguishable from the Boston Tea Party (laws created with no representation.) Poor reasoning that shows a complete and fundamental misunderstanding of our history. A much more compelling (and why this law can not be overturned judicially) would be that the US has the right to create drug/consumption laws therefore the US has the right to create health laws. If the US does not have the right to force me to buy health insurance, citing that it is for the health and welfare of society, than it doesnt have the right to stop me from injecting heroin and topping it off with some cocaine. Either the US has the right to create laws for the health and welfare of society, or it doesnt. Im fine either way, but I have a feeling the people who are adamantly against the insurance law arent going to be favorable to legalizing every illegal substance either. Post of the day
  4. Lousy, immature slapstick with terrible acting is all it was.
  5. Just be thankful you didn't watch Dinner For Schmucks last night like I did. Wound up going to sleep crying in the fetal position.
  6. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jan 31, 2011 -> 12:55 PM) Really? I'd be shocked if they weren't at least "Competitive" this year. Their starting pitching is still in tact, and they have people who can replace Crawford. And a 3 year run isn't bad at all. Or how about the Marlins, 2 world series in their first 10 years. Or how about the Twins, basically building themselves into a medium-market club by constantly winning as a small market club (with 2 world series wins in the last 25 years as well). Or the run the Small-Market Oakland A's got on earlier this year. Or the team that started off 2010 in bankruptcy with the 4th lowest salary in the league making a world series run. Edit: If I go a little farther, Maher specifically states that a team like the Pirates has the same chance of making the W.S. as a black teenager from Harlem has of becoming CEO of Halliburton. 2 of the 4 bottom teams in salary last year, the Rangers and the Padres, were competitive for their divisions until the end of the year, and as I noted, 1 of them wound up in the Show. Meanwhile, 3 of the top 6 teams in salary missed the playoffs and a couple finished well under .500. Maher's analogy really doesn't hold at all. If you want to say Socialism is why the NFL is great, you really need to talk about public funding of ballparks, because the dynasty/parity thing just doesn't work if you compare to MLB. You're not my friend anymore. *takes toys away and goes home*
  7. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jan 31, 2011 -> 12:52 PM) Like Tampa Bay. Well they're back to the bottom of the heap now.
  8. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jan 31, 2011 -> 12:49 PM) In which sport? The Bills/Lions or the Royals/Pirates? The Bills/Lions. The Royals/Pirates can get great management and still have almost no chance to build a perennial contender. Not with their payroll.
  9. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jan 31, 2011 -> 12:47 PM) By the way, it's worth pointing out how no matter who makes the point Maher tries to make about how Baseball and Football are like the Democratic and Republican philosophies, baseball's still the sport which has had a whole lot more mobility up and down in terms of who's actually winning the games, and the NFL has franchises just as moribund as the Pirates & Royals in MLB. That has more to do with terrible management.
  10. QUOTE (Controlled Chaos @ Jan 31, 2011 -> 12:46 PM) In case you're interested in another view Tackling Bill Maher’s “NFL Is Socialist” Rant Pretty weak rebuttal.

  13. QUOTE (FlaSoxxJim @ Jan 31, 2011 -> 10:58 AM) If you can suspend disbelief enough to believe that a person of Batman's relative young age has found the time to train himself to peak physical perfection, master every known form of martial arts, become the world's greatest detective mind, become a master of disguise (love that Matches Malone), build an entire subterranean super crime lab, design and execute the covert construction of Batcars, Batcycles, Batcopters, Batboats, Batplanes, and the 2,000 items he manages to fit into his utility belt, all while running Wayne Industries and it's assorted charities. . . and finding time to gain a reputation as Gotham's greatest millionaire playboy, then you should be able to buy into any superhero mythology they throw at you. Yeah but he's still just human.
  14. He can also sport an erection for more than 8 hours without requiring to see a doctor.
  15. QUOTE (FlaSoxxJim @ Jan 31, 2011 -> 10:46 AM) Elaborate? Batman uses contraptions and technology. Superman just has all sorts of seemingly random physiological powers.
  16. QUOTE (FlaSoxxJim @ Jan 31, 2011 -> 10:43 AM) I'm going to try to break it to you gently, but they just sort of make up powers for Batman too because he's just sort of made up. I think there's a huge difference between the two.
  17. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Jan 31, 2011 -> 10:14 AM) How bad were the other black mayoral candidates, that they chose Braun to represent the African-American community. Whatever votes she gained by being the sole black candidates, I'm sure she lost just as many for being bad. Yeah I was thinking the same thing.
  18. QUOTE (bmags @ Jan 31, 2011 -> 10:09 AM) To quote it even worse and more accurately Mosely Braun said "You don't remember what I've been doing the last 15 years cause you were high on CRACK" *shakes head*
  19. QUOTE (Harry Chappas @ Jan 31, 2011 -> 09:47 AM) Carol put on quite the show of ignorance yesterday.....anyone that backed her needs to really reevaluate their ability to make descicions. The thought that Rahm not in the race and her actually having a backing is scary what could have happened. QUOTE (bmags @ Jan 31, 2011 -> 09:50 AM) That was absolutely disgusting. I had my mouth open in awe. What did I miss?

    Snowmageddon 2011

QUOTE (Athomeboy_2000 @ Jan 31, 2011 -> 09:19 AM) Is the storm going to be eradicating an entire ethnic population of people? That was a reference to the Onion News Network. They had some huge blizzard storm watch and the graphic just said "Snowlocaust 2011".
  21. Dinner for Schmucks might be one of the worst movies I've seen in the last 10 years. My wife left the room after 20 minutes. I stuck it out but wanted to jab a fork in my eye the whole time.

  23. How come no one is talking about the pro bowl in here? Such an exiting game!
