  1. QUOTE (bmags @ Jul 17, 2008 -> 12:41 PM) what's everyones names on tpm? Mines the same. Rarely do I post unless I see something stupid. I have yet to post but I just browsed through some comments and saw athomeboy_2000 with the Hulk version of McCain avatar that he recently sported on this site.
  2. QUOTE (Athomeboy_2000 @ Jul 17, 2008 -> 12:53 PM) Typically when numbers are "leaked" early about Obama's numbers, they are way of. I have two theories on this and both are equally likely. 1) People low in the organization see only some of the numbers. 2) The leaks are intended to show how his numbers are way beyond projected numbers and have a "wow" factor. See that you're posting on TPM.
  3. Been watching the last 3 seasons of "Weeds". What a great show. Halfway through season 3 right now.
  4. QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Jul 17, 2008 -> 11:45 AM) Here's a big difference: Al Gore has literally made millions of dollars off of this movement, yet he doesn't seem to follow it himself. Ok but that doesn't change the fact that we are facing an energy crisis on a global scale. With populations increasing drastically in the upcoming decades we should get our asses in gear. Granted Gore's a douche for being a hypocrite but his message is still on point.
  5. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jul 17, 2008 -> 11:30 AM) We do this all of the time in this country. Heck look no further than the Jesse Jackson and Barry Bonds divides in this country. People who say one thing and do another tend to get marginalized. I'd be surprised if you could name one human being that wasn't a hypocrite about something at one point in their life.
  6. We should all ignore the Pope too since the Pope-mobile isn't a hybrid.
  7. QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Jul 17, 2008 -> 11:18 AM) Shouldn't he be leading by example anyway? Sure. His message is still a good one though.
  8. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jul 17, 2008 -> 09:11 AM) What's the little kids song that has a verse about "and let it begin with me"? Well if the nation were to be off carbon based energy like he is proposing then wouldn't that, in turn, force him to utilize the same non fossil fuel energies? It's not like he's proposing that everyone in the US should use alternative energies while he should still be granted the ability to use fossil fuels.
  9. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jul 17, 2008 -> 09:16 AM) Maybe in the burbs, but in the City, there is no way that the stations could accomidate all of that stuff. Most of the things on my list are pretty feasible IMO. A mailbox, dvd kiosk, and shoe shine stand wouldn't take up a large amount of space. I agree the other requests would be on a case by case depending on the size of the train stop and available land surrounding them.
  10. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Jul 17, 2008 -> 10:03 AM) I'd call it the opposite of a fountain renovation. A fountain doesn't generate revenue, nor does it help cut down driving and pollution, as this would. Its really nothing like it. You have to look at this as more of a business proposition. As such, the big worry is management - will the CTA be smart enough to have the stores run by private business? That's the big key.
  11. I think most train stops should have the following: - a mailbox - laptop kiosks with Internet connections (like at airports) - one of those dvd rental kiosks - dry cleaners - cafe/coffee shop - newspaper/convenience store (many already do but should be expanded to other stops) - shoe shine stand
  12. Blog entry from SF Mayor Gavin Newsom. As much as Daley has tried to "green" Chicago I still he's got a lot more that he can do.
  13. Hallelujah!!! As someone who got rid of their car and moved near an El stop this would kick ass. And it's about time they started considering offering retail services at El stops such as dry cleaning. LINK
  14. My girlfriend asked me why I stopped watching MSNBC when I got home from work. Here's a perfect example why.
  15. QUOTE (ChiSox_Sonix @ Jul 17, 2008 -> 07:56 AM) I too wish he would devote those 13 seconds it takes to read a box score to something more important! Since when did he start reading? The running joke was that he never read the papers.
  16. Fantastic banner for one of the most underrated baseball players in the game.
  17. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Jul 16, 2008 -> 04:19 PM) Ok, your hotel is located in decent walking distance of some stuff, but next time you should stay a little farther up north. There aren't a ton of hostels to choose from in Chicago...unless I'm mistaken.
  18. Who's arguing that Joe is not a classy or good guy?
  19. QUOTE (Drew @ Jul 16, 2008 -> 12:04 AM) hell, I think you can even get sushi in Seattle, or so I've heard In San Fran as well.
  20. The Bush Regime decides to talk to terrorists after all.

Might wait to see this at the cheap show. (WARNING: Unrated trailer. Be careful at work)
  22. Just walking down the strip after sundown would be entertaining enough for an hour or so with the family. The lights and outrageousness of it all is quite entertaining if you've never seen it before.
