QUOTE (shipps @ Nov 13, 2008 -> 10:33 AM) Seen Changeling last night,Clint I love ya but that was one boring ass movie. If I counted correctly the phrase "my son","her son",and "your son" was said 6,993 times in a 2 and a half hour marathon of watching Angelina cry. Yeah, I've heard some bad things about that one, which is surprising, given the fact that Eastwood was in the business of only making Best Picture contenders.

When is it right for everything to taste like bacon?
I'm going to say something unpopular. Though I love the smell of bacon, I do not like the taste.

QUOTE (RockRaines @ Nov 11, 2008 -> 12:38 PM) Boldin brings me another weekly fantasy win. What a horrible coaching performance by Big Mike. Funny how pundits are blaiming Martz, and not Singletary. I think it all obviously should fall on the head coach.

Official 2008-2009 NHL Thread
Khabibulin was flat out ridiculous last night. That may have been the best game I've seen from a goaltender in this town since Ed Belfour left. I personally think any team in need should be calling DT non-stop until Khabby is theirs. However, trading 'Bulin might no longer be the best move this team could make. On another note, someone needs to come in and teach our players what to do in shootouts and penalty shots. Sharp should have ended this game on that OT penalty shot, and not scoring there is unacceptable. MAKE A DAMN MOVE! All of our players come in and shoot the puck. Make a move, channel the old Tony Amonte move where he flew in from the side, slammed on the brakes, and stuffed the puck into an empty net. That was some sick s***... the amount of ice he sprayed in the air was un-matched. Or you could do the old Zhamnov . Ok, so it really was a Forsberg thing, but I think Alex was better at it. Seriously though, make some sort of move, there's no need to just try to beat the tender with a wrist shot when you can make any move you want.

QUOTE (DBAHO @ Nov 13, 2008 -> 09:03 AM) Triple double for Dwight last night. 30 points. 19 boards, 10 blocks. Yikes. He did that against an NCAA team, so it's really not that impressive to me. OKC without Durant is probably the wrost team to take an NBA court.

Mets & White Sox Have Been Talking...
Price has been hyped, but Pelfrey's stock really sank until he showed up this year and proved something... he can pitch in the big leagues. The kid has some massive drop to his sinker, has an ok fastball, and has at least one useable off-speed pitch (and I could see Coop teaching a cutter, or even a changeup). Yeah, if you can get Pelf, which I don't think you can, you do it. A rotation with Pelfrey, Floyd, and Danks could be dangerous for a long time. Pelfrey and his sinker would actually be perfect for the Cell.

Bartolo Colon
I, too, would be a huge fan of bringing Sweaty Freddy back. That final game against the Sox was quite impressive, and I think he could definitely be an above average 5th starter. Plus, I could dust off the Garcia jersey shirt! Though his #34 belongs to Floyd now.

Williams Shopping Jermaine
QUOTE (LosMediasBlancas @ Nov 13, 2008 -> 05:07 AM) I don't understand shopping Jenks. The team plays, at a minimum, 1,458 innings. A closer such as Bobby pitches roughly 60-70 innings a year (last year 61.2, the year before 65, the year before that 69.2). If you can get a package of prospects for Bobby or something to fill a role that plays in more than 4% of a baseball season, you f***ing do it. I don't see how anyone would even argue that point.

Mets & White Sox Have Been Talking...
QUOTE (BearSox @ Nov 12, 2008 -> 07:44 PM) No, you wouldn't. He only has one pitch and that's his sinker. Granted it is a very good sinker, it won't mean much if he has no other pitch to keep hitters off balance. Someone's rather down on young pitchers tonight. Mr. Scout says David Price only has one pitch and now Mike Pelfrey. Pelfrey will basically wind up being Jon Garland... the k rate is nearly identical (even a tad better). If you're saying you don't want a young, cheap Jon Garland (the developed one, not the 5 era one), then I don't know what to say.

Williams Shopping Jermaine
QUOTE (rockren @ Nov 12, 2008 -> 11:16 PM) The Rays aren't dealing Garza. They didn't plan on turning Delmon Young into Jermaine Dye a year later. Lets get real. WHAT?! You're ruining everyone's chance to DREAM! Obama's President, and Garza can be a White Sox! Oh, and duh, this is what happens at SoxTalk. People bring up possible scenarios, and then other posters jump in wanting Carl Crawford, Jake Peavy, Matt Garza, etc etc.

This is a very deceptive thread... is everyone hoping Tampa's GM reads this so he trades us Price? Price is going to be an ace. Middle-of-the-rotation my leaking ass!

By "bad" do you mean, "slightly less than great"? EW's review said it wasn't as good as they expected, mainly because of Daniel Craig being gloomy the entire time and out for vengeance, but they still gave it a B.

QUOTE (DBAHO @ Nov 12, 2008 -> 02:28 PM) So Brian Burke is leaving Anaheim as their GM. The rumors mill is overblown that he's headed to Toronto, but I wonder if the Hawks would fire Tallon and appoint Burke in his place? I said months ago the Hawks would nab Burke when they got the chance. Here's their chance, and they'll get him.

Mets & White Sox Have Been Talking...
QUOTE (iamshack @ Nov 11, 2008 -> 03:11 PM) Is it? Minaya has been on Javy as much as anyone in the league over the past several years. Are you going to be here all week, Steve? If you compare the two statements, I was basically pointing out that Kenny certainly does not love Javy... especially not after last year. As for Beltran, you'd assuredly have to get that contract partially paid, which I don't believe would be an issue. Maybe even finally get Heilman.
