The Triumphant Return of Jake Peavy @ Angels
Steve9347 replied to Steve9347's topic in 2011 Season in Review
QUOTE (ChrisLikesBaseball @ May 11, 2011 -> 09:31 PM) The Angels are going to start crushing Jake's first pitch fastballs if he doesnt start to mix it up. That's baseball, yo. The first time through the lineup is usually heavily weighted with fastballs. -

Can we just DFA Juan Pierre already? -
Scotty Pods is a free agent. I'd say it's 50/50 he signs with the Sox!

QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ May 10, 2011 -> 10:02 AM) 2010 Carlos Quentin: Home: .270/.380/.562 Road: .214/.299/.391 2011 Carlos Quentin: (small sample size, I know) Home: .175/.288/.298 Road: .361/.425/.806 So you're telling me Carlos Quentin is inconsistent? NO WAY!

QUOTE (docsox24 @ May 11, 2011 -> 04:35 PM) Gale Sayers put up some great stats, doesn't mean I want him starting for the Bears next season. Docsox24, what you've just said is one of the most insanely idiotic things I have ever read. At no point in your rambling, incoherent response were you even close to anything that could be considered a rational thought. Everyone on this message board is now dumber for having read it. I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul.

Comparing Bosh and Dirk is just silly. There are way better comparisons, so no real reason to compare those two.

QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ May 11, 2011 -> 04:25 PM) So this Google Music basically cloud saves your entire music library, so you can listen to your music anywhere, on many devices? This sounds phenomenal, as long as they don't verify to see how the songs were acquired, considering I illegally download all my music. I highly doubt they verify the source, or else this would be useless to me! From what I gather, you can stream with the app over any Android device or from any PC with internet connectivity. Still waiting on my invite Google you f***ers.

QUOTE (Brian @ May 11, 2011 -> 04:08 PM) Just saying, it was kind of sad seeing Shaq at the end of the Boston bench at the end of game 4, looking helpless. One of the most dominant players I have ever seen is done. I hope he retires. I hated Orlando and the Lakers but was a secret fan of his. Seems super cool off the court and hope he goes out on his terms. I hated the Magic, Lakers, and Heat, but have always loved Big Diesel. He's fun. And he told Kobe to tell him how his ass tastes, which is pretty cool.

QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ May 11, 2011 -> 08:57 AM) How many Cubs fans did you beat up? Tamest crowd ever. We were surrounded by Cardinals fans so it worked out. Odd story, my dad randomly had 3 extras. Wrigley is really s***ty about scalping I guess. We got a warning. Seriously, they have "legal" ticket scalpers right across the street, but give us s*** for trying to hook a couple cards fans up with $35 seats for $5. Then they wouldn't allow us to even give the f***ing tickets to these poor bastards afterwards, and said we'd be arrested if we did. I'm glad the Cards won.

QUOTE (RockRaines @ May 10, 2011 -> 12:49 PM) Coors beats all and thats pretty much all i drink at Sox games. Agreed a thousand times over.

We have officially achieved 3 different threads with Tractor Traylor news.

The dude is a 22 year old millionaire. I'd be disappointed in him if he weren't plowing all the ass he could.

QUOTE (Soxbadger @ May 11, 2011 -> 03:15 PM) I just think its pretty hard to predict next year, let alone 3-5 years from now. If the Heat are in the finals the next 2 years, Id start to agree, but as of now, they havent even made 1 NBA final. Its just way to speculative for me. DUDE 2003

I think the lesson we've learned here is, though they can be annoying from time-to-time, lawyers sure do bring a lot of fun to message boards.

QUOTE (knightni @ May 11, 2011 -> 03:05 PM) I swear... If Peavy throws a pitch tonight and his head pops off, I'm done with him. 36 seconds in... HEH HOW ABOUT THAT -
QUOTE (fathom @ May 11, 2011 -> 03:21 PM) So you're giving out free blowjobs on the concourse? Might want to change your name to BigSwallow ZING

QUOTE (Jerksticks @ May 11, 2011 -> 02:59 PM) That's the King Kong of generalizations. I hope you can see that. Ugh. The minute anybody brings up the idea of having a team of athletic guys who work counts and take what the pitcher gives them it gets lumped into this "we already tried this (with s***ty players mind you)" argument. Ugh again. Why always take the OBVIOUS dead-horse argument out of the archives, ya know? Is it because it's easy? I dunno. Do you people really think Ozzie wants JPs weak ass out there? Good Lord. Ugh, dude, so how are we going to magically sign 9 hitters as you describe? Good Lord, you're living in a f***ing fantasy dreamland. Ugh again. Let's give Ozzie 9 athletic guys who work the count by pulling them out of our ass, and then let's also start Free Blowjob Wednesdays on the main concourse.

Robert "Tractor" Traylor is dead.

QUOTE (whitesoxfan101 @ May 11, 2011 -> 11:41 AM) I think we've already seen that the "bench mob" advantage the Bulls enjoyed throughout the regular season isn't anywhere near as relevant in the playoffs. In fact, the bench has been hurting the Bulls in the playoffs, if anything, especially during that time in the early 2nd quarter when it's mostly bench players in the game. I'm just not sure that advantage matters anymore, outside of the fact that guys like Taj and Korver can really help out as individuals during certain games. The bench has been huge in our last two wins.

The Triumphant Return of Jake Peavy @ Angels

QUOTE (BigSqwert @ May 11, 2011 -> 11:24 AM) I predict 14 shattered bats and 5 Angels will soil their pants while in the batter's box. 15 shattered bats, one shattered face, and the Angels forfeit after 5. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ May 11, 2011 -> 11:28 AM) Hard to get excited for a 14-23 team that's 10 games back. But I'm looking forward to this one. I forgot what Jake Peavy looked like until Steve flashed those pics. Like I said, just get through this one feeling good. I'm not even worried about results right now. Though a no-hitter will suffice. Jake is a good reason for me to tune in tonight. I can't decide whether I want to start him in fantasy, but I think I'll hold off. -
QUOTE (Jerksticks @ May 11, 2011 -> 11:34 AM) but part of me hopes Ozzie gets the team he wants one of these years. You mean the team with Juan Pierre leading off and a rotating DH like he wanted last year? Yup, worked out great.

QUOTE (whitesoxfan101 @ May 11, 2011 -> 11:28 AM) I honestly think the Bulls can play the defense needed to beat Miami. The Bulls can be a very good defensive team if they focus and get back in transition, forcing the other team to run half-court sets. I think they will do that against Miami (if that's indeed the matchup, with both teams advancing this round) and the Heat aren't a very good half-court offense anyways. But for the Bulls to beat Miami, they'll need Rose to be playing at prime MVP form, with consistent secondary scoring from Boozer, Deng, Korver, and a surprise guy like Gibson. I just don't see the offense being good enough, especially against a team as good on defense as Miami. Our advantage this season against Miami has been and will continue to be the Bench Mob. I have a feeling come games 6 and 7 if necessary that the "big three" will be really tired.
