White Sox vs Dodgers 1st Spring Training Game

QUOTE (RockRaines @ Feb 28, 2011 -> 02:54 PM) Wow, has Broxton put on about 15 lbs? I can't see him, but he's always been a fatty. -
QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Feb 28, 2011 -> 02:51 PM) I just was saying that the fact most of them did not get me out to the movies, in my opinion, showed that it was a weaker year. But that really means nothing in terms of film quality. It's up to the user to read reviews, seek out trailers, and decide. Everyone has their own taste, and I don't want to start arguing that, but you won't find many experts or pundits or average movie-goers who didn't think this year was quite exceptional when it came to truly great movies. It, without doubt, blew the 2009/2010 Oscar season out of the water.

QUOTE (Chet Kincaid @ Feb 28, 2011 -> 02:50 PM) The Sox should have never EVER let John Rooney walk. I don't know if it was the Sox or the Score, but that was a big mistake. It was the Sox. Rooney and Farmio was the best booth I've ever had the luck of listening to... -

QUOTE (bucket-of-suck @ Feb 28, 2011 -> 02:45 PM) Dunn looks like he just picked up a bat a few days ago and I know he did. I know you are probably referring to this, but in an interview Dunn did say he doesn't even pick up a baseball bat once in the offseason. -

It sounds like the Dodgers are playing like a bunch of little leaguers. -

QUOTE (RockRaines @ Feb 28, 2011 -> 02:27 PM) Rios looks to have kept his modified stance from last season and made good contact already. Please keep this type of description coming... Farmio and DJ are discussing Ralph Kiner. I want to know how my babies look. -
QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Feb 28, 2011 -> 02:25 PM) Oh Steve come on, one of the strongest in the last 20 years? Personally I found last years nominations far better. And last 20 years, you do realize that the following movies came out in 1994. 1994: Forest Gump Pulp Fiction Shawshank Redemption That year also had a "King's Speech" it was called "The Madness of King George" Do you really think 1 of the movies we saw last night will be a Gump, Fiction or Shawshank? You haven't seen any of them so why on Earth are you even chiming in on the quality of films? Black Swan 127 Hours King's Speech Social Network True Grit Inception Those were all FANTASTIC films. The first two seriously blew my mind and fully-engrossed me. I also enjoyed performances in "The Fighter" greatly as well. I said it was one of the strongest years for film, not THE strongest, in the last 20 years. I can't believe you'd compare last year's crop and the battle of exes anywhere near the quality. See these movies before you chime in, yo. Doing so prior is just silly.

QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Feb 28, 2011 -> 01:50 PM) Overall I thought movies this year were meh, which would be evidenced by my lack of movie going. This was one of the strongest years for film in the last two decades, dude.

QUOTE (maggsmaggs @ Feb 28, 2011 -> 12:51 PM) Hendry also severely injured his knee yesterday, according to Jesse Rogers on ESPN Radio. Not good. Very little depth for the Hawks on the blue line now. Wonder if Scott will get any time there now (hope not though). You'd be better off with Steve Harnden on the blue line than Jon Scott.

QUOTE (Felix @ Feb 28, 2011 -> 12:27 PM) Yes, the guy that shot 32.6% from three this year and 33.6% from three last year is "lights out from three point range." Hell, even if you look at his whole career, 36% isn't lights out. Get real. Perhaps I got carried away. I still like the addition at no cost to us. Anything is better than Bogans.

Hawks supposedly after this f***, Ladislav Smid. 1st rounder in 2004, 24, pretty s***ty player judging by the statistics. Career -42, hopefully scouts see something we can use in him if we do indeed go that route.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Feb 28, 2011 -> 10:08 AM) Done and done Thank you ever so much. It feels so much more official now. -
QUOTE (bigruss22 @ Feb 28, 2011 -> 12:03 PM) If only Alexei could get that OBP up he would be a great 2/5 hitter. Yeah, well, that's never going to happen so we'll just have to be satisfied with a great glove a short with a .750 OPS. Life could be worse.
-
QUOTE (Controlled Chaos @ Feb 28, 2011 -> 11:53 AM) I must be missing something here. I'm thinking it's Joe, and not you, who is missing something. Hell, I think he misses a lot!
-
QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Feb 28, 2011 -> 11:59 AM) Bears release Kevin Shaffer, Tommie Harris, & Hunter Hillenmeyer Mighty = fallen. His first two seasons I thought Tommie was going to be a beast for years. That's football for you.

QUOTE (La Marr Hoyt HOF @ Feb 28, 2011 -> 09:51 AM) "Spring Training dictates to me where they're going to hit," White Sox manager Ozzie Guillen said. "How they feel more comfortable. How the team looks better. I want to protect Adam and PK with Rios, and I can do a lot of things here. Rios can steal bases and stuff, and A.J. [Pierzynski] can hit-and-run with [Carlos] Quentin. We can do a lot of things with them. I'm just going to start with Dunn batting third to see how it works." Protect Adam and PK with Rios? GMAFB Regardless of the reasoning, I'll take the guy with the .381 OBP hitting 3rd vs the guy with the .331 OBP. Ozzie, without question, is making the right call here.

QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Feb 28, 2011 -> 09:19 AM) Is that available online? Also, disagree on Paul. I love Pegg and Frost. I've had Winter's Bone queued up on Netflix for about a month, but it's a long wait. http://www.esquire.com/features/liam-neeson-0311
