Official 2010-2011 NCAA Basketball Thread

QUOTE (whitesoxfan99 @ Mar 17, 2011 -> 12:08 PM) I'm not just saying this because Clemson is playing well (I can't actually see the game but they are winning) but does anyone else think playing in the play in game will actually be beneficial for teams. People will point to the short rest but you get a game under your belt and get rid of the jitters that comes from playing in the NCAA tourney since you have already won a game. They are not winning. -
QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Mar 17, 2011 -> 09:16 AM) i will always wonder what the reaction to Lebron would have been if he would have said "im taking my talents to New York" or "Im taking my talents to Chicago" or "Im taking my talents to NJ" or "im taking my talents to LAC" Would people nationally still think he was a supreme douche? Is the reaction because he chose to be Robin instead of Batman? Is it just the entire process? Would we all be sitting here saying "The Decision was awesome, I loved watching him punk out Cleveland like that" or would we be saying "man, that was cold. I like him a little less right now."? From my post only a few later... My biggest issue is his willful decision to become at worst a 2nd fiddle on someone else's team, and at best the equal to a second Batman. I always saw Lebron as wanting HIS team and wanting HIS legacy. That "decision" basically told me that he really doesn't give a crap about any of that... something that is unheard of when you think of greats like Magic, Bird, Jordan... and in present day Kobe and now what I'm seeing from Durant and Rose.

QUOTE (maggsmaggs @ Mar 17, 2011 -> 09:04 AM) I know I am in the minority, but I don't dislike LeBron. Part of the hate toward him is the unfortunate timing for his free agency's with the explosion of new-age media, which made every thing he said/did news. The Decision was a horrible PR move, but other than that, I don't think there is much for me to hate LeBron on. I think we did luck out that Lebron signed in Miami simply for the development we saw in Rose. He's been dominant all season long, and had Lebron been here he'd be at a fraction of what he is... Boozer's early season injury also helped perception because we didn't have the "Boozer made him better" excuse. /ramble

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Mar 17, 2011 -> 07:32 AM) Wade's more likeable off the court? With the "Family" things? This just goes to show how bad "The Decision" was for Lebron that folks think about that more than Wade's family crap. I dislike Lebron the player, but the person I've always found enjoyable... that is until "The Decision" and his acting like a supreme douche ever since. However, Wade's stock has taken more of a hit with the family stuff. (in my mind)

QUOTE (PeavyTime @ Mar 16, 2011 -> 07:36 PM) Hollinger (yes, I agree he is an idiot) now has the Bulls as the favorite to win the NBA title. In other news, on NBA pregame it appeared that Jalen Rose would rather start a franchise with Monta Ellis than Derrick Rose. Jalen Rose is not having a good week even by his standards.

QUOTE (Felix @ Mar 16, 2011 -> 12:53 PM) Now you just sound stupid again, as he's done exactly that multiple times this season. KEVIN. LOVE. This is what is thought everytime that's posted when the dude puts up 17 points and 10 boards in a 20 point loss.
-
QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Mar 15, 2011 -> 06:26 AM) This will either be great or terrible... I don't think there's an in between.
-
Kevin Love is a very good and original player on a very bad team. The funniest part about his game is he's such a monster on the boards but also has the range to drain a 3 pointer. He's very entertaining to watch simply because he's different. That being said, as I pointed out a couple of months ago, he's not a difference maker persay. He puts up stats, but he's not single-handedly going out there and winning you ballgames... ever. I think he's a great secondary piece on a playoff team and an elite tertiary piece on a championship ballclub.
-
QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Mar 15, 2011 -> 11:09 PM) So if the Wolves called Forman up and said Love for Noah, what do you do? Anybody that's says they'd keep Noah is a bold-faced liar. You're f*cked in the head and once again I thank the Lord you are not in charge. Kevin Love plays zero defense. Noah is a much better fit for this roster and I would hang the phone up immediately.
-
QUOTE (Brian @ Mar 15, 2011 -> 11:46 AM) Noah out tonight because he is sick. Or at least sent home now. Not sure if he is definitely out. Could be looking at starting front court of Asik and Thomas tonight. If only we'd dealt for Courtney Lee, he could totally start at center for us tonight, right J4L?

QUOTE (PlaySumFnJurny @ Mar 15, 2011 -> 09:35 AM) Am I the only one who thinks Peavy looks a little bit like actor Jeremy Renner from The Hurt Locker and The Town? Maybe its just because both of those characters are badass.
-
I've said it before... normally if the White Sox acquired an overpaid, oft-injured guy who couldn't stay on the field his first 1.5 seasons as we barely miss the playoffs, well, I'd grow to dislike him a tad. I f*cking love Jake Peavy. I love his honesty, I love his will to compete, and I hope he can stay healthy and show again that he is definitely a world-class pitcher.

Buy from kwschro. It was easy and awesome and affordable.

QUOTE (buhbuhburrrrlz @ Mar 14, 2011 -> 08:21 PM) Boston loses to NJ. HURRRRR. Bulls even in the loss column. IncrediBULL.

That 2nd period was quite a treat.

QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Mar 14, 2011 -> 04:54 PM) Defensive basketball is winning basketball. Look at the NBA and which teams are successful this year. There's a difference between defensive basketball and the boredom of watching the Badgers, badger.
-
I really don't worry about pitching results in Spring Training. The key today is that Jake threw 67 pitches and has velocity.
-
QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Mar 14, 2011 -> 04:36 PM) A special set of circumstances? You mean like being really good at basketball? That... of course that... combined with being the only guy on the roster capable of rebounding.

QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Mar 14, 2011 -> 01:47 AM) Tried watching SNL because Zach Galifianakis was hosting. Didn't make it through much. I'm sure there were some good bits, but it's just absolutely awful. In a TV setting, if you have to explain your jokes (or if you explain them anyways even though they are obvious and not funny anyways), it's not funny. I'm no comedian, but subtlety is huge, SNL is about as subtle as a white out blizzard. SNL is officially dead. Every character Kristen Wiig plays is the same and unwatchable.

QUOTE (T R U @ Mar 14, 2011 -> 03:02 AM) I felt the same way, but if you go to IGN.com they have some videos on it and the multiplayer actually looks pretty fun.. If youre more of a story guy, then I dont think ide drop $60 on it you should just rent it.. but, go watch the videos.. the MP ones look like it would be a pretty fun game.. My favorite part is the way they counter campers.. if you are camping and start getting a bunch of kills without dying, they put a price on your head and someone from the other team is given a bounty to take you out, and you appear on their map.. so a sniper cant just hide in the back of a huge map and rack up kills.. the people who do really good in this game get bountys put on them, and I think thats a great counter I really like this.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Mar 14, 2011 -> 07:44 AM) They went 13-40 over that streak. It was a special set of circumstances that allowed Love to achieve that feat, but it was still impressive nonetheless.

QUOTE (beckham15 @ Mar 12, 2011 -> 07:24 PM) anyone else tired of seeing bogans miss wide open 3's? I'm sure Business as Rasual Butler is.

QUOTE (flavum @ Mar 12, 2011 -> 10:21 AM) 2:05, whitesox.com and 670AM---Turn down Melton/turn up Farmer...lesser of two evils Pierre LF, Vizquel 2B, Dunn DH, Konerko 1B, Rios CF, Quentin RF, Pierzynski C, Ramirez SS, Teahen 3B I wonder if the quality of that feed is good enough that I can put it on my tv with HDMI out and not be disgusted.
