White Sox offer arbitration to Konerko, Putz.

QUOTE (fathom @ Nov 23, 2010 -> 04:44 PM) Nice rant, but the sentence is bold was definitely not true the past few years. You saw what happened when outsiders came in and caused disturbances in the clubhouse with Konerko, Dye, and Thome. Thome and Dye were kicked to the curb? I'm missing your point with this one, yo. -

QUOTE (Kenny Hates Prospects @ Nov 23, 2010 -> 04:41 PM) Even if this is true I really don't care. He's clean and he plays hard. He does his job well. If anyone on the Sox is more interested in getting along at backyard BBQs then they can get the hell off this team. I care about winning and postseason baseball, which unfortunately AJ has probably experienced more than any other Sox player sans Andruw and Omar. I don't care if they all hate each other and they all want to rip each other's throats out after the season. Just win. AJ gives the team the best chance of winning of all the realistic options out there. And if Kenny is concerned about getting along with people then he can go f*** off too, because he can't get along with anyone himself, and he's the one who brought in notorious cancer Manny Ramirez to right a ship that only sunk because he couldn't offer Mr. SuperFriendlyILoveYou Jim Thome a $1M contract in the spring. Preach. If on-field interactions say anything, the players love AJ. I'll take Mark Buehrle's word over anyone talking about hush-hush interactions they had with his best man blah blah. "My feeling is that A.J. has a better chance than Konerko [to return]," Buehrle said. "I don't know. It's just from talking to Konerko and hearing the stuff he said. I don't know what the deal is with other teams offering money and a better situation for his family. I just feel that A.J. has a better chance of coming back. I'd love to have both back. They have been the core of this team." That's from the most respected member of the White Sox and arguably the face of the franchise. Get out of here with this "you won't BELIEVE what we know from behind the scenes! I GOT INSIDE INTEL." Well, I have published quotes from players who want AJ back, and gauging what is available on the market, give me f***ing AJ Pierzynski. He started slow, but you're getting a guy who can handle all of our pitchers, knows our pitchers, is a huge hit amongst the Spanish-speaking players on the roster, and can hit .275 with decent pop. -

QUOTE (fathom @ Nov 23, 2010 -> 03:04 PM) Been reading the Bill Simmons chat log today? He suggested a much better idea in figuring out how to get Steve Nash. I'm not sure they could pull that off as easily as Gilbert though (I also saw the post on this).

After that Buck contract, AJ taking one year of arb would have been a-ok by me. -

Wow, there certainly are a lot of non-cited facts and figures being thrown around in this thread. 80% of bulls*** is 100% bulls***. -

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Nov 23, 2010 -> 02:11 PM) They couldn't have wrote his part any better than they did last night. I was hoping he'd become a regular part of the gang. Sadly, he's the Blitz again, so he'll miss everything.

QUOTE (DBAHO @ Nov 23, 2010 -> 01:18 PM) But I don't see us winning it without making a move at the deadline and I think it has to involve Vince Carter. Expiring max contract, but who could we trade him for. I'd love CP3 but that ain't happening, Iggy could be an option but he's not a good outside shooter. Honestly, if you want to get a player who would really fit in, and is playing well again, that answer is Gilbert Arenas.

QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Nov 23, 2010 -> 11:48 AM) I think the only free agent I'm really following at this point is Dunn. I really hope the Sox land him. We could be looking at a pretty bad offense next season.

QUOTE (lostfan @ Nov 23, 2010 -> 09:56 AM) What's it going to take for McDaniels to get fired? I think they are still paying Shanahan so I don't see it happening even if they really need to. Forcing Cutler out was one of a whole bunch of s***ty moves that would follow. Passing offense has been the least of the Broncos' worries...

Oof, that's a lot of change for a 32 year old, s***ty-defensive catcher to play in a pitcher's park.
-
QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Nov 23, 2010 -> 09:36 AM) That makes zero sense and anyway I don't believe that KW would offer him $16 million a season. There is no chance in hell. There are better players to be had for $16 million per!

QUOTE (chw42 @ Nov 22, 2010 -> 03:44 PM) This guy has no control. He threw 96 in 09, velocity dropped to 93 in 2010 and he got pounded. Maybe this is one of those Coop can fix 'em cases. It's not "Coop can fix 'em"... it's "Coop'll fix 'em", which implies that there is no doubt this kid will dominate. Coop'll fix 'em. -

QUOTE (Athomeboy_2000 @ Nov 22, 2010 -> 12:08 PM) Quick Android question: My wife REALLY needs a PDA/Smartphone with a built in calendar that will beep and/or vibrate at certain times of the day to reminder her to do things. My first thought was a Droid (probably a Droid Pro). Here's my question: If you set a calendar event to notify you, can you set the phone to ring a certain tone when set to ring or vibrate when the phone is on vibrate? It does this automatically. I have my calendar linked to my work Outlook calendar and it goes off 15 minutes prior to an event (default). You can change all of those options though, including ringtone and notification timing. That's just using the stock Android calendar.
