QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Nov 29, 2010 -> 08:08 PM) I saw the movie 30 years ago, except then it was called Star Wars. No other science fiction movie may ever be made, because all sci-fi alien universe movies were once called Star Wars.

QUOTE (thxfrthmmrs @ Nov 30, 2010 -> 10:20 AM) besides steals, westbrook and rondo are among the best defenders in the league at the PG position, Rose has been mediocre so far. westbrook is also the better rebounder, better at getting to the line and hitting the free throws, and if you watch the game, westbrook plays with a nonstop motor and hustles after the lose ball or rebound every time, Derrick doesn't do that, consistently. Rose is probably better at taking over the game, and has a better jump shot. but westbrook has much higher TS% at 56.2% compared to Rose's 53.9% that's because rose is averaging just 3 points higher than westbrook despite taking 5 more shots a game. Rose is the best point guard in the east, at least for now.. but the cream of the crop is in the west. I do watch the games. I'd wager I watch more NBA games than anyone on this board. Westbrook does get to the line more, but that gap is closing. Rose has upped his trips to 6.1 per game (from 4.3), and is hitting free throws this season at 91%. That bests Westbrook's 88% (albeit on 9.2 attempts per game).

QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Nov 30, 2010 -> 10:18 AM) lol, right The man has a point, he just said it in a weird way. Rose doesn't really need to "learn from Russell Westbrook", rather, he just needs to pick up the intensity on the defensive side of the game. The issue is, Rose expels so much energy on the offensive side of the floor, I really have a hard time getting on him for not being a shut-down defender. He has the skills to improve, and I'm sure once Boozer takes some of the focus off of Rose on the offensive end, he can better play defense. I'm sure that has been part of Thibs' game plan from the beginning to weather the storm.

QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Nov 30, 2010 -> 12:24 AM) What exactly is Rose going to learn from Westbrook though? Russell has been fantastic this season but Derrick has been just a tad better. How to steal? That's about it. Rose and Westbrook have very similar games, but Rose takes smarter shots, will shoot a higher percentage, and has a more dependable 3 point shot. Rose is a better player than Westbrook, and you couldn't convince me to trade him for any player in the league right now. The Bulls are lucky, as are we as fans.

Dexter
QUOTE (maggsmaggs @ Nov 29, 2010 -> 11:51 AM) My prediction is that Quinn finds out from Liddy about Dexter's activities, but then sympathizes with him and what he does, not turning him in. I think he also keeps the news from Deb. Quinn has seemed to be more tranquil in recent episodes and I cannot fathom how he won't find out about Dexter via Liddy unless Dexter were to kill Liddy but I don't know how that wouldn't arose incredible suspicion and as far we know, beside being snoopy, Liddy isn't a killer. But I just see an epic confrontation between the two. I have actually loved this year, not as good as last, but still excellent TV. Yeah, last year cannot be beat, but this year has been quite exceptional and they've pulled off what I didn't think they could... making a believable storyline of keeping the kids out of the way.

QUOTE (Brian @ Nov 29, 2010 -> 10:22 AM) When Lumen and Dexter got it on last night, I wasn't digging it, but the more I thought about it the more it made sense. The last few weeks have been very good and even I will say that Julia Stiles was good last night. I was definitely wrong... I didn't think they'd go there.

QUOTE (joeynach @ Nov 26, 2010 -> 05:36 PM) Sign Orlando Hudson to play 2B, he consistently posts a line of about .280/.350/.420 and averages about 60 RBI from the top of the order. Let him play 2B and use Beckham either in a trade for Rasmus or move him back to 3rd. He would cost about $5M, and you can still afford to resign Konerko and/or go after Dunn. Pierre Hudson Rios Konerko/Dunn Rasmus CQ Alexi Catro/AJ Morel/Vizquel Ha, I like how we just say "trade for Rasmus" like that's going to be an easy thing.- Rockies Interested in Floyd?
I like Ian Stewart a lot, actually, but giving up Gavin for him makes no sense unless he's coming with some other ballers.- 2010-2011 NBA Thread
Keith Bogans needs to be put down, and the Luol Deng shoots three pointers experiment needs to be buried with him.- White Sox offer arbitration to Konerko, Putz.
QUOTE (fathom @ Nov 23, 2010 -> 05:49 PM) No one said it was the players, but the organization in general. I don't know who, but that could include Ozzie or KW or numerous others. From all accounts, they were beyond eager to get rid of him for a few reasons (salary and diminished productivity being a few of them). But now you can sign him at a more reasonable rate. I'd still not be opposed to offering him arb and overpaying that one season vs. risking his signing elsewhere.- 2010-2011 NBA Thread
Record at 6th Loss. 95-96 Bulls: 48-6 10-11 Heat: 8-6 Home Record 95-96 Bulls: 38-2 10-11 Heat: 6-3- White Sox offer arbitration to Konerko, Putz.
I wasn't really standing up for AJ, but was more pointing out the facts vs the "clubhouse rumors" that were entirely BS and the lack of evidence to support "our players" not liking AJ. Our players like AJ, according to direct quotes. Trust me, if AJ was complete crap, I wouldn't want him back. I look at our in-house options and the available free agents and AJ is looking sexier by the nanosecond.- TSA - Going too Far?
QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Nov 23, 2010 -> 05:03 PM) Who is that? Looks familiar. Liv Tyler? Looks like Kate Beckinsale to me?- White Sox offer arbitration to Konerko, Putz.
QUOTE (fathom @ Nov 23, 2010 -> 04:56 PM) Well, the only person with 100% legit inside information was the one talking about the Sox trying to trade AJP for anything last season without finding any takers. Eh, his teammates like him, and the White Sox will bring him back if the price is right. Speaking of "price is right", Jermaine Dye was on his fake Price is Right thing for the wrestling show; he's beloved by most of his teammates and I challenge you to find a White Sox player speaking out against AJ Pierzynski. This sounds like overreaction and someone running his mouth acting like the big dog and thinking he's Kool and the Gang. You can't lump AJ in with Cabrera and Swisher, it just doesn't fit.- White Sox offer arbitration to Konerko, Putz.
QUOTE (fathom @ Nov 23, 2010 -> 04:44 PM) Nice rant, but the sentence is bold was definitely not true the past few years. You saw what happened when outsiders came in and caused disturbances in the clubhouse with Konerko, Dye, and Thome. Thome and Dye were kicked to the curb? I'm missing your point with this one, yo.- White Sox offer arbitration to Konerko, Putz.
QUOTE (Kenny Hates Prospects @ Nov 23, 2010 -> 04:41 PM) Even if this is true I really don't care. He's clean and he plays hard. He does his job well. If anyone on the Sox is more interested in getting along at backyard BBQs then they can get the hell off this team. I care about winning and postseason baseball, which unfortunately AJ has probably experienced more than any other Sox player sans Andruw and Omar. I don't care if they all hate each other and they all want to rip each other's throats out after the season. Just win. AJ gives the team the best chance of winning of all the realistic options out there. And if Kenny is concerned about getting along with people then he can go f*** off too, because he can't get along with anyone himself, and he's the one who brought in notorious cancer Manny Ramirez to right a ship that only sunk because he couldn't offer Mr. SuperFriendlyILoveYou Jim Thome a $1M contract in the spring. Preach. If on-field interactions say anything, the players love AJ. I'll take Mark Buehrle's word over anyone talking about hush-hush interactions they had with his best man blah blah. "My feeling is that A.J. has a better chance than Konerko [to return]," Buehrle said. "I don't know. It's just from talking to Konerko and hearing the stuff he said. I don't know what the deal is with other teams offering money and a better situation for his family. I just feel that A.J. has a better chance of coming back. I'd love to have both back. They have been the core of this team." That's from the most respected member of the White Sox and arguably the face of the franchise. Get out of here with this "you won't BELIEVE what we know from behind the scenes! I GOT INSIDE INTEL." Well, I have published quotes from players who want AJ back, and gauging what is available on the market, give me f***ing AJ Pierzynski. He started slow, but you're getting a guy who can handle all of our pitchers, knows our pitchers, is a huge hit amongst the Spanish-speaking players on the roster, and can hit .275 with decent pop.- TSA - Going too Far?
