Priceless

According to the Chicago Sun-Times' Joe Cowley, the White Sox are considering Derrek Lee as a Plan B or C at first base. We know the above, so just sign D-Lee already.

QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ Dec 7, 2010 -> 11:05 AM) Paulie has every right to make a power play here, it doesn't mean we have play it with him. I say we set a price, a deadline, and bide our time. This. I love me some Paulie, but I had reservations at 12 per... 15 is just insane given his age and likely production. There are other options at 1B.

QUOTE (quickman @ Dec 7, 2010 -> 08:16 AM) Nicely said, What i am hearing is the Dbacks and whitesox are very close on the money side of things. Konerko is truly thinking about this because He can spend three years at home with his wife and kids as they are in the growing age stage. Three years at home with your family around for about the same money (Dbacks offering a touch less) or three years on the road with your only team and a chance to win the division. Thats why this is taking another day. Wait, are you telling me that Paul Konerko's family doesn't live in Chicago? (immediate, wife and children) I don't believe that.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Dec 7, 2010 -> 09:26 AM) SI_JonHeyman hearing #royals wouldnt trade greinke within division in "a perfect world.'' sounds like a bit of softening in that stance. Sounds a bit to me like the best offer thus far has come within the division...

QUOTE (PlaySumFnJurny @ Dec 7, 2010 -> 09:14 AM) I'll play Polyanna: All these injuries will end up being a good thing; they'll force the new guys to play more, integrate better etc., and the skill guys who have missed chunks of time in the regular season will be fresher come playoffs, which will be important given the short offseason this year. The fact that the Hawks consistently cashed in on the power play w/o Hossa and Kaner the other night means all is not lost. Sadly, you are assuming that the Blackhawks make the playoffs. If they sneak in with full health, anything can happen, but even Q said they need 95 points to get in, which requires them to be pretty damn good the rest of the way. Given we have no word on Kaner, that cannot be good. We'll see what happens.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Dec 6, 2010 -> 04:45 PM) Mozilla has adopted a couple of red panda cubs at my local zoo. Um. Aren't there supposed to be red pandas on this red panda webcam?

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Dec 7, 2010 -> 07:50 AM) Bah, everyone knew that Seattle's team was leaving that year, they'd already been sold to an OKC owner. If you knew the Sox were moving to Tampa next season, would you continue to buy tickets to help that owner pay for his new city's team? Seattle doesn't "Deserve" a team if you say that the only cities that deserve a team are cities that spend hundreds of millions of taxpayer dollars on arenas during recessions. That's a solid market, one of the top 15 in the country. The NBA needs to be there, just like the NFL needs to be in L.A. I don't disagree that the NBA needs to be in Seattle, but the NFL doesn't need much of anything, and is doing fine without LA.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Dec 6, 2010 -> 04:14 PM) So, Kenny's resigning Putz then? Ha.

I think that Paulie is going to get a monster offer from some club... thinking he's in our back pocket is a mistake.

QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Dec 6, 2010 -> 03:54 PM) If Sale closes, who starts? Buehrle Floyd Danks Jackson Garcia Peavy comes back at some point...

QUOTE (Cali @ Dec 6, 2010 -> 03:25 PM) Jenks is a closer who can't close anymore... Signing him for 1 mil and having him compete for the closers job and losing it is a waste.... Bobby can't close and can't pitch the 7th inning, so what's the point? You aren't getting Bobby for 1 mill, but if you could get him for anywhere near that it'd be incredible value.

QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ Dec 6, 2010 -> 11:41 AM) Oh damn, that's so obvious when you say it!

This is just one of those seasons.

Yeah, I'm a nerd, so what! Jacked one with Dunn on my lunch break.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Dec 6, 2010 -> 12:46 PM) Let's put it this way...starting from scratch building a franchise as the 2nd team in chicago, or staying in NOLA, which is the better business investment? If I had no personal knowledge of the city, the first option might make sense, as Chicago is more than 3 times the size of the Metro area for NOLA, and hasn't recently been devastated, plus they have the benefit of the NBA's largest arena, and the CP3/DR1 rivalry would kick up instantly. That said...the only time I'd ever go to see the other team is to go see the Bulls beat them for cheaper tickets. And I think the rest of the city would be about the same way. The other team would always be the "other". It depends on where they put the team. You put it at All-State and you can draw greater from the Northwest and Southwest suburbs, while also bringing in a lot of attendance from the Rockford region. I think they'd have no problem selling out that arena on most nights with NBA talent playing there (especially Chris f***ing Paul? I'll head out a few times to watch). It would certainly make for some entertaining "cross town" games.

QUOTE (pittshoganerkoff @ Dec 6, 2010 -> 08:10 AM) The Werth contract is ridiculous. Makes Dunn look like a bargain. Adam Dunn is 7 months younger than Jayson Werth and the much more impactful player. Dunn - 4/56 Werth - 7/126 Kenny Williams is a genius for jumping the market.

QUOTE (Brian @ Dec 4, 2010 -> 07:33 PM) Loved it. Great editing. That film was absolutely BRILLIANT.

I'm heading to 127 Hours later tonight... it should be solid.

Going All In Then It's Time to Try Beckham in 3 Spot

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Dec 4, 2010 -> 10:15 AM) I would be really happy if Becksy was hitting 3rd soon...I think long term that's where i want him hitting...but I'm worried enough about his mental state that i wouldn't start the season with him there. I want to squash the usage of "Becksy" right here and right now, dammit. -

QUOTE (Athomeboy_2000 @ Dec 3, 2010 -> 02:38 PM) C- Pierzynski 1B - TBD (Konerko? / Viciedo) 2B - Beckham SS - Ramirez 3B - Morel / Viciedo LF - Pierre CF - Rios RF - Quentin (please no!) DH - Dunn Oh think of this.... 1- Pierre 2- Beckham 3 - Konerko 4 - Dunn 5 - Rios 6 - Ramirez 7 - Pierzynski 8 - Quentin 9 - Morel / Viciedo I played around with Pierre Beckham Rios Konerko Dunn Quentin Pierzynski Ramirez Morel Last night on mlb 10 the Show (some psycho is updating the daily trades. Needless to say, that is one crazy-potent lineup. -
So, the White Sox don't exactly have a long history of monster free agent acquisitions... where does this one rank? This could be the best...

QUOTE (Cali @ Dec 3, 2010 -> 03:26 PM) It's kind of ironic, watching the marathon of the Club on MLB Network, the Sox now have Adam Dunn AND Edwin Jackson (at least for now) I don't think E-Jax is going anywhere.

QUOTE (justBLAZE @ Dec 3, 2010 -> 03:59 PM) Love the sig. I wonder who will be SoxTalk's whipping boy next year? Has to be Teahen. Thanks. As for Teahen... yes.
