  1. QUOTE (since56 @ Dec 17, 2010 -> 08:07 AM) Jenks? Why didn't Coop fix him? Good God, we got the kid for nothing off the scrap heap and turned him into a top 10 closer over 4 seasons. That's not too bad of work.
  2. QUOTE (nitetrain8601 @ Dec 16, 2010 -> 08:54 PM) Heat will be fine. When Miller comes back I'd imagine their rotation will be: He could be back end of next week...
  3. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Dec 16, 2010 -> 11:41 AM) That depth + Rose is why I think we might actually be a great matchup against the Heat @ 100%. Carlos Boozer and a healthy Joakim Noah will cause problems for the undersized Heat.
  4. QUOTE (Palehosefan @ Dec 16, 2010 -> 07:19 AM) That would be Raymond Felton's departure. He's a hell of a leader and player. I blame it more on TT getting minutes. When in doubt, blame the fail that is Tyrus.

I'm headed to "The Fighter" tonight, and cannot f***ing wait. It's going to be awesome.
  6. QUOTE (pittshoganerkoff @ Dec 16, 2010 -> 10:15 AM) My wife and I watched season 1 of Modern Family on DVD in about a week then started in on season 2 on the DVR. One of the funniest shows on TV. Last night we watched the episode about the chirping fire detectors when Phil lost it and started hammering them off the wall. I couldn't stop laughing when he yelled, "I just detected your ass getting kicked!" That is a hilarious show.
  7. QUOTE (almagest @ Dec 16, 2010 -> 02:16 PM) So who's playing Black Ops on PS3? I could use more teammates. PSN: al_magest I'll be playing it sometime after 12/25. Add me as a PSN friend Steve9347.
  8. Kay Jeweller's commercials are all terrible.
  9. Count me in the group that will be skipping this year's game, to be honest. I'm not too keen on analog controls for pitching, and I can just download an updated roster set prior to the season for MLB 10 and it'll still look great.
  10. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Dec 16, 2010 -> 09:18 AM) At this point it has way more to do with his being a second rate Jay Mariotti than anything else. He's not even close to what Jay Mariotti was... anyone who says that clearly forgot about Mariotti's daily column ripping anything Chicago every chance he got... not just the White Sox and Ozzie Guillen either. Mariotti called for the firings of people and was a complete blowhard. Cowley is harmelss, and I find him entertaining and funny... it's clear he just wants to report on the team he is following. If it comes with a few wisecracks, I don't care, that makes it more readable and entertaining. Cowley is NOTHING like Jay Mariotti and doesn't spew the hate that he did. Anyone saying that has short term memory.
  11. QUOTE (chw42 @ Dec 15, 2010 -> 11:03 PM) Also, don't forget that Cowley said 2011 could be "The Kids Can Play II" about a month and a half ago. This board's obsession with Joe Cowley is getting old. Every thread has Joe Cowley talk. Everyone, get over the fact that he ripped Soxtalk once!
  12. Jesse Crain had 62 k's in 68 innings against only 27 walks, for the highest k:9 of his career. He has only had one bad season where he was healthy, which was 2009. I think he's a safe bet to be a solid contributor out of the bullpen for the life of this contract. I love this signing.
  13. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Dec 16, 2010 -> 08:57 AM) I don't think anyone wants to, they are just worried about money. The money isn't our problem, though. Jerry clearly made an exception to sign Konerko and that didn't effect our relief budget one bit.
  14. QUOTE (iamshack @ Dec 15, 2010 -> 07:58 PM) Color me wrong. Good work, Kenny. Me too, I figured we didn't have the cash for this. Wow, Jesse Crain is the s***. A three year deal to a 29 year old doesn't even make me upset. :notworthy :headbang
  15. QUOTE (juddling @ Dec 15, 2010 -> 06:48 PM) I'm still plowing through my Netflix as fast as possible. Just started season 4 of Dexter...Just finished season 2 of Supernatural. I enjoyed the first season of Californication. Anyone have any comments about that show? Other seasons just as good? it's going to be either that or maybe the first season of 24 to break up the Supernatural/Dexter kick i've been on. Season 2 was quite good, Season 3 was a pile of human feces... complete and other garbage. 24 rocks, by the way.
  16. That sucks but fix it now and be ready for playoffs.
  17. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Dec 15, 2010 -> 04:44 PM) Which will actually bring down his price compared to the rest of the league, and really, it might re-allocate some funds that the Sox were planning to use early on towards the later portion of the draft where they might be able to sign some guys who fall for whatever reason. I think Balfour is a guy the Sox should definitely look at...maybe something like 2 years, $8 mill with an option for the 3rd. This I can agree with...
  18. QUOTE (justBLAZE @ Dec 15, 2010 -> 04:29 PM) Pedro Feliciano another name worth looking at. I actually thought about him, but we're kinda money in terms of lefties, and he's the very definition of LOOGY.
  19. Why not kick the tires on a couple low risk high reward guys like Bonderman/Escobar/Duchscherer/Fuentes and see what happens?
  20. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Dec 15, 2010 -> 03:05 PM) His minor league resume is sick and he was on his way to an easy ROY award until he got hurt. Oh yeah, he's a catcher. He'll never hit for the average, but I'm pretty confident when I say he'll be a much more productive offensive player than Joe Mauer. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Dec 15, 2010 -> 03:06 PM) That's a lofty goal. I'd love to take you up on that bet. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Dec 15, 2010 -> 03:17 PM) Umm, you are completely off the rocker. You want to make a bet here? This has to be one of the most ridiculous statements I've EVER seen. Whoa whoa whoa. You may be King Sh*t round these here parts, but I called that bet first!
  21. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Dec 15, 2010 -> 02:36 PM) Really, I disagree with the concept that this is a "pretty bad bullpen". Compared to last year, I feel like it's lost exactly 1 piece of value, Putz, who was ridiculous May through July and bad and hurt in August. Who else have we subtracted? Jenks, Linebrink, and the combination of Threets/Williams. Jenks and Linebrink were at best bad, at worst terrible. The other guys in last year's bullpen...Thornton, Santos, Pena, and Sale, are all still there, and they're likely to be joined by Infante. That means...the Sox bullpen is think on bodies right now, but it's gotten thin by pulling out the garbage. Re-inserting garbage really won't make it worse. And remember, this was still the #5 bullpen in the AL in ERA last year (#1-4 made the playoffs). The weakness right now is that we have to replace some very good innings by Putz. Frankly, that may already have happened, if either Infante performs, Pena pulls his career out of the gutter, or Santos grows into a solid 2nd year pitcher. I like the cut of your jib, Balta.
  22. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Dec 15, 2010 -> 03:05 PM) His minor league resume is sick and he was on his way to an easy ROY award until he got hurt. Oh yeah, he's a catcher. 23. QUOTE (Ranger @ Dec 15, 2010 -> 03:00 PM) The move is risky, but that doesn't necessarily make it a bad move. Were Peavy 32 at the time of acquisition with multiple years left on the deal, I would think differently. But I was happy with the deal, because a healthy Peavy makes the rotation better. The ankle injury I dismiss because it's not an indication of anything long term. A freak injury. And if the guy is capable of making 30+ starts a season (which he typically does), I'm all for it. In 8-full Major League seasons, Jake Peavy has reached 30 starts 4 times. So if by typically you mean "half the time" then alrighty. After 2011, his percentage of full Major League seasons with 30 or more starts will be at 44%.
  24. QUOTE (Pale Sox @ Dec 15, 2010 -> 02:59 PM) I don't think they'd be silly enough to ask for Santana. But why would the Indians want to trade for Greinke anyways. It's not like they're a frontline starter away from contention. I don't think asking for Santana when you're talking about dealing Greinke is silly.
  25. QUOTE (Real @ Dec 15, 2010 -> 02:53 PM) Is that a rain coat? Pumpkin, you're dating a tumbling, tumbling dickweed.
