QUOTE (bigruss22 @ Dec 15, 2010 -> 01:58 PM) Milksteak boiled over hard, with a side of jelly beans, raw of course. I never tire of the "Sunny" references.

This is so difficult; it would really depend on my mood.

QUOTE (MuckFinnesota @ Dec 15, 2010 -> 02:00 PM) Taking my statistics final tomorrow, which is worth 100 points. If I get 22 points on it, I get a B. If I get 90 points on it, then I get an A in the class. I'm not so sure that it is really going to make a difference if I get an A or B in the course considering I'll never use the material in my lifetime. Sure it might boost my GPA, but I'm already over a 3.0 at 3.3, so I don't think an employer will really care. Employers don't too often ask about GPA.

It's tough not to love these Bulls. by Michael Wilbon Visit link for the entire, excellent article. Wilbon's last two articles involving the Bulls have been very good. This paired with his weekly segment on Waddle & Silvy have been nice. I love me some Wilbon.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Dec 15, 2010 -> 01:16 PM) I think Sale would do well also. I've gotten the impression that Sale will be in the rotation on opening day, taking Peavy's role, and that leaves you weakening your bullpen, with only 4 starting pitchers if Peavy isn't there. Lucas Harrell taking up 10 starts is not all-in. Anyone thinking that Kenny Williams' saying this and then it being used as a slogan isn't just a big marketing ploy is foolish. The Sox aren't going to change much drastically from where they are right now. There will be a few non-roster invitees to Spring Training, we'll hear how one has awesome "stuff" and then hope someone can get outs in a pretty bad bullpen until Peavy gets back.

QUOTE (DBAHO @ Dec 15, 2010 -> 01:23 PM) After what the Magic have done after the past 6 games or so (albeit the team was decimated by a stomach bug), I wonder if Otis Smith is getting antsy to make a move at the wing position. Don't think we can get out of the East as currently constructed (unless Lewis and VC both play at their best which I don't see happening in the playoffs). Lewis's falloff as a player has been quite dramatic to say the least. He got paid and that was that.

QUOTE (The Gooch @ Dec 15, 2010 -> 02:00 PM) If they were still in the playoff race I could see them getting a lot of volunteers. In the current situation however... On the radio they said that "volunteers" would be paid (kinda not a volunteer, but still). I'm sure there's more than a few folks who'll throw on a coat and make some quick cash depending on pay.

QUOTE (bigruss22 @ Dec 15, 2010 -> 01:59 PM) Where is your avatar from? American Psycho? It's "Patrick Bateman" though not captured from the film. It's from some promo shot.

QUOTE (Buehrlesque @ Dec 15, 2010 -> 01:11 PM) Same reason we wanted Contreras. Same reason we wanted Floyd.

QUOTE (Tex @ Nov 21, 2010 -> 07:51 AM) How many poeple here will read more of this thread than Dubya's book? This guy! I try to read Presidential memoirs or what have you when they come out, but I've never read such a simple book. Seriously, these are the least complex sentences of all-time. If he even had a hand in writing this, it makes me truly sad. It's like a junior high school kid wrote it and used a thesaurus to replace some words. Also, I could punch him for the Stem Cell chapter and his reasoning behind decisions based on that.

QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Dec 15, 2010 -> 11:50 AM) FYI there's a thread on it: http://www.soxtalk.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=79880 Well that might be a good spot then!

QUOTE (iamshack @ Dec 15, 2010 -> 12:21 PM) Anyone hearing anything about the game possibly being moved to Soldier Field? No. It's being played at the University of Minnesota.

QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Dec 15, 2010 -> 12:01 PM) Who is that? Oh, you have so much to learn.

I didn't want to turn this into a Jake Peavy thread, I just found it funny that of all the awesome deals Kenny Williams has made (there are many), the writer points out Jake Peavy.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Dec 15, 2010 -> 11:37 AM) Right now, the forecast is for 0 degrees F, 10-20 mph wind gusts. That should make for some solid entertainment on Monday night.

QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Dec 15, 2010 -> 11:32 AM) yeah, aliens in one movie, the discovery of a 2000 year old man and the cup of christ in the previous movie. odd choice Well, you make a good point there.

QUOTE (ScottyDo @ Dec 15, 2010 -> 11:31 AM) Note the year not included in that list, and what he did that year Well, yeah, no one said "dude sucks when healthy".

I don't know if this is the right spot to put this, but I don't want to get flamed in that other thread. George W. Bush's book is a trainwreck.

QUOTE (Pale Sox @ Dec 15, 2010 -> 11:07 AM) Odd choice? He wore the number during his brief stint with Arizona.

Ahh, Rich Harden. What could have been.

I was just going to post this. Looks like we all guessed right (it wasn't much of a mystery).

I watched the latest Indiana Jones movie last night. I never got around to it because it got some bad reviews, but I enjoyed it. However, aliens? Really?

QUOTE (bschmaranz @ Dec 15, 2010 -> 10:54 AM) Before the year we acquired him, where is this long history of issues? 27 or more starts in the 6 seasons previous. Peavy was on and off the DL with elbow concerns his entire tenure with the Padres. He spent most of 2008 with pain in his elbow, and for a power pitcher, that's not good. He's been on the DL in 2010, 2009, 2008, 2006, and 2004.

The Bulls are concerned Joakim Noah may have ligament damage in his right (shooting) thumb, sources tell ESPN Chicago. This has gone from a mild concern to a real worry. Noah went through shootaround Wednesday and is expected to play against the Raptors, but is set for testing back in Chicago Thursday. If the examination reveals a need for surgery, ESPN Chicago is speculating Noah could miss at least eight weeks.

QUOTE (ChiSox_Sonix @ Dec 15, 2010 -> 10:28 AM) Why? Why what? Why do I trust in Kenny? Because I love the man. Why was trading for Jake Peavy dumb? Because he has a mammoth contract, a long history of injury, and was injured at the time of acquisition. I think we all knew that the percent chance that that deal paid off was quite low (regardless of what we traded, those pieces could have been used to acquire someone else or we just save the huge Peavy contract). However, Peavy is funny, because as much of a fail as he's been for the White Sox, I still love him. Hopefully he can come back healthy and return to the form we saw with the Padres in his early days, but I'm not holding my breath.
