  1. QUOTE (Brian @ Jan 14, 2016 -> 12:46 PM) I think we should just change this into a Star Wars thread so prequel talk should be accepted. Or are you all prequelracists? Well, we need to let people know there's still TFA spoilers
  2. QUOTE (knightni @ Jan 14, 2016 -> 09:42 AM) I have 133. I'm at 54. I've found 50 posts per page works best on mobile. Loads quickly while forcing me to touch the tiny little next page button less.
  3. Jesus can something just happen? The Sox landing a big OF bat makes them a legit contender. Let's do this.
  4. The decline of a guy who hit 40 bombs last year? Ok.

    Job Hunt Thread

The hardest part of this job is letting someone go like I just did about 20 minutes ago. She's got an amazing attitude and is a super sweet and energetic young woman, but she just can't get the job done.
  6. QUOTE (Brian @ Jan 8, 2016 -> 02:33 PM) This has to be a joke debate. I've never seen such incoherent reasoning from one person. Someone must think Khloe is the hottest Kardashian. At this point she is and it's not close.
  7. QUOTE (AustinIllini @ Jan 7, 2016 -> 07:42 PM) I got 45 minutes into the Departed and honestly thought "This may be the best movie I have ever seen". Still really love it, just like Goodfellas better. The Departed is just perfection in my book. It came out a week before I got married at age 23 and comes with some awesome memories. It's also just awesome.

QUOTE (Whitewashed in '05 @ Jan 11, 2016 -> 07:51 PM) That's awesome congrats! I will be taking that exam down the road. How did you study and how tough was the test? Yes tell us more. I'm due for that this year.

QUOTE (Brian @ Jan 11, 2016 -> 07:06 PM) Got a rejection email today saying I wouldn't fit in. Ouch. Jeez that's harsh. f*** em.

    Job Hunt Thread

QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Jan 15, 2015 -> 09:37 AM) A month and a half in - I made the right call. Seeing now how a real organization is run has opened my eyes. They were in desperate need of marketing, and I think this will be a long relationship. Just based on the first 1.5 months, they've now just signed a lease on a new space of the building we're in and are letting me expand the marketing team and run things from a separate office. That didn't take long. Life is good. Baby on the way. Stress from the job is minimal - only focused on what needs to be done work-wise and not about a million things out of my control. I loved my last job, and this one is wayyyyyy better. A year after this post. Definitely the right call. New job, baby, new house and still alive. Today I got a $30,000 bonus. Huzzah!!
  11. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Jan 11, 2016 -> 12:20 PM) Suddenly everyone's the biggest David Bowie fan ever, today. This was one of my favorite quotes from a friend on Facebook today. I've known the guy for 5 years, we've talked music plenty of times, he overshares his love of certain types of music... never once has he mentioned David Bowie... "While still shackled by the chains of societal conformity (my hair has remained one color and my "looks" stay remain neutral for many years now), this guy probably had as much an influence on me as any third party figure, both direct and indirect." GTFO
  12. Suddenly everyone's the biggest David Bowie fan ever, today.
  13. Holmes and Bernstein has a wonderful ring to it, but Lawrence would have to grow a pair to actually challenge Dan from time to time.

  15. QUOTE (AustinIllini @ Jan 11, 2016 -> 08:35 AM) I just remember going from hating him (in Pittsburgh, Detroit) to loving him in Chicago. He was so good in Detroit and I hating him so much that year. That series against Detroit stung so bad but you knew good things were to come. It all lined up. He lost to the Wings on the Penguins and then to the Penguins on the Wings. Then he came as really the final piece to the puzzle to get the Hawks over that hump and away we went. He's fairly cooked now, not much left in the tank, but still a solid 2-way player.
  16. QUOTE (AustinIllini @ Jan 11, 2016 -> 08:19 AM) The actual plaques don't have any team representation as far as I can tell. Hossa is probably in. He was so good in Atlanta, Pittsburgh, and Detroit. I remember the outrage when the Hawks let Havlat go in favor for this guy. I ordered his Blackhawks sweater literally as soon as I could after he signed with the Hawks. When he came back from injury, he came back with a bang scoring two in his debut. That was a game against the Sharks. I was at a bar hooting and hollering. Yeah, Hossa was one of my favorites when he was on the Senators (not listed in your post above). Given he's won 3 Cups with the Hawks, should he get into the Hall it'd without question be as a Blackhawk even if his better seasons were the first 10 of his career.
  17. QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Jan 10, 2016 -> 10:09 AM) Chuck GarfienVerified account ‏@ChuckGarfien A dream scenario for White Sox: Sign Cespedes to backloaded contract, sign Desmond to 1-yr deal til Tim Anderson is ready. Saladino utility. Desmond at SS is a nightmare.
  18. Hopefully the Hall does the right thing and puts a Sox hat on his plaque.
  19. QUOTE (bmags @ Jan 7, 2016 -> 10:02 PM) speaking of... KINGS LAKERS CATCH THE FEVER hahaha The Kings have three guys who are both awesome and incredibly flawed in Cousins, Gay, and Rondo. They always make for interesting theater.
  20. QUOTE (knightni @ Jan 8, 2016 -> 07:46 AM) Just saw it. (Finally!) My fan theory: Finn got taken from his family at a young age; his family (father) has got to be Lando Calrissian. Lando blew up the second Death Star and was friends with Han and Leia (Kylo Ren/Ben's family). The First Order kidnapped his only child as a payment of retribution. Oh I see. He's black so he must be related to Lando.
  21. QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Jan 7, 2016 -> 06:14 PM) If you or anyone is still looking for a canon book, definitely go with with Lost Stars. I read it in a week. Very good. It's considered Young Adult but by everyone's account is way better than the adult book that's out, Aftermath. I'm not really sure what makes a book young adult vs adult. It had very grown up themes and was just as long. Nice. Aftermath kinda stunk, so maybe this'll be good.
  22. QUOTE (hi8is @ Jan 6, 2016 -> 08:36 PM) Give me Cespedes or give me death!!!!! I'm with him. Not adding another bat renders that Fraser deal pointless.
  23. QUOTE (The Gooch @ Jan 5, 2016 -> 12:59 PM) Oh and an email response from everyone's favorite lawyer... https://www.yahoo.com/tv/making-murderer-pr...-233447676.html People are really gullible. That guy's job is to get a guilty verdict. The documentary was spun to be highly in favor of the defense. It was completely one-sided. All of his points are completely accurate and had they been shared in the documentary, no one would be upset that Avery is in jail. The *67 s*** alone implicates Avery pretty well in my book.
  24. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Jan 5, 2016 -> 12:44 PM) I understand that, but doesnt this seem to go a lot farther than that? Dude lost 18 years of his life, and then immediately (it appears) he is framed for murder? well, he lost 18 years of his life because f*** him he f***ed with a cop and he's a nobody. then he maybe got framed for murder (he probably did it just got more evidence planted) after he sued the cops for 36 million bucks and didn't let the story go away.
