Um, wow. OK then, let's move on and pretend that game never happened. There was your "bad losses" column come bubble time. -

Illinois up 24-23 on Gardner-Webb at half. All sorts of ugly. Wake up. -

QUOTE (GoodAsGould @ Nov 24, 2012 -> 09:08 PM) As long as the Groce hire works out I'd imagine the AD would be safe for the time being. The Beckman hire was brutal though and it was easy to see that as soon as the ASU game even if a couple here were still delusional. LOL, delusional after not jumping on the "fire the coach" bandwagon after the 2nd game of the season. Got it. QUOTE (bigruss22 @ Nov 24, 2012 -> 10:23 PM) If MT gets 2/3 of the mens bb, football, and womens bb coaches right, then he's doing pretty well. So far Groce has been a shining star for the Illini, hopefully he keeps it up. And Illinois fans need to take a step back and give Beckman some time. Clearly he hasn't looked good, and he's dug himself a hole, but he needs time to get his staff right and get his players. Firing him now is about the stupidest thing you could do unless MT has some trick up his sleeve with a very solid coach waiting to come in (very unlikely). If MT thinks Beckman is incompetent, firing Beckman would be the smartest thing he would do right now. I see very little how it could be stupid to fire him at this point. Not a lot of positives to pull out from keeping him. -

QUOTE (gatnom @ Nov 24, 2012 -> 01:55 PM) I'm just saying that firing Beckman means 4 straight bad to terrible recruiting classes... It'd be tough for anybody to succeed in that scenario. It cant get worse than this. If you know hes not the right guy you ditch him. Someone else could surely turn recruiting around in less than 4 years. -

I think we all know that if we weren't paying zook he'd be gone. As such were stuck for at least another year. There's a chance we lose every game next year if siu comes to play. -

2nd sideline interference penalty of the year. If there is a better summary of our season then Beckman on his ass butt-scooting off the field after he's penalized, please show me. -
how would YOU fix the sox attendance woes?

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Nov 23, 2012 -> 01:34 PM) Is ChiSox traffic really that much worse than every other ballpark? I mean, they have as good of highway access as anywhere. Street traffic to get to the highways is annoying but it's only a couple blocks, and, barring construction/renovation, there is solid public transit access as well. Yeah, highway access that serves as a parking lot. Chicago traffic can be absolutely brutal. -

QUOTE (Rex Hudler @ Nov 21, 2012 -> 11:15 PM) Krush, just for you! Two non-IU things (Soxbadger feel free to skip this post) 1. Nice game by Illinois tonight. I didn't see the whole game as I was watching Michigan - Pitt early. I don't know enough about Illinois depth and long term prospects (this year) but they looked impressive, especially taking into account a new coach and last year's mess. 2. Rock, how in the hell did Matta not offer Trey Burke? He played for Sullinger's dad! Who did they recruit instead? Haha. We don't have a ton of depth or inside game. Well likely be on the bubble. Though if we play like this in the big ten we can have a great shot to make the tourney. But after last year and going through football season, its nice to appear like we know what the f*** we are doing. Enjoyable. -

This team is enjoyable. Were going to win some games were not supposed to win. -
QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Nov 21, 2012 -> 06:39 PM) How come nobody wants to go out on Black Wednesday anymore? What's that all about? #sadpanda Because Illinois is playing, so everyone wants to stay home to watch. I've never understood the fun in being hungover and then trying to eat a lot of good food.

QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Nov 21, 2012 -> 06:25 PM) Illinois is the most talked about program in this thread. Therefore, Illinois has the biggest target on them in all of college basketball. B/W 1, SSK 0. -

http://espn.go.com/nhl/story/_/id/8659872/...ehr-says-report 6 million over 5 years OR Losing 6 billion. Do I need to fly to NY and explain the math here? I still have no confidence, because it's the f***ing NHL, but IF they are that close...you would think they could figure this out now. -
QUOTE (iamshack @ Nov 21, 2012 -> 09:03 AM) We should be able to get Earl Bennett more involved...where the hell has he been this year? OMG MORE HESTER PACKAGE.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Nov 20, 2012 -> 01:03 PM) Wow. That is crazy. It does seem nuts, but it's going to be a rush if they ever get something done. That was the first time they hinted at starting the season as early as a week after an agreement. I don't know if that would hold, or if they would allow more time, but I'm positive Daly said that before a slew of games got cancelled. -

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Nov 20, 2012 -> 12:55 PM) You think they could get through training camps and exhibitions in a bit over two weeks? Yes. Daly had a quote earlier in October where he said something like "camps would have to open by Friday for the season to begin a week later." This is when they were referencing starting Nov 2nd weekend. I don't even know that they'd have exhibition games. -

QUOTE (PlaySumFnJurny @ Nov 20, 2012 -> 12:46 PM) I need to decide whether I can make non-changeable, alternative plans for 12/7, which is when I have Hawks/Devils tix. Even if by some miracle they reached an agreement this week, there's no way they'd be playing that soon, is there? I'd estimate a 2% chance, at best. If they reach a deal this week, they would for sure be playing by the 7th. If you can hold out a little longer, the next wave of cancellations should be any day now. -

QUOTE (HickoryHuskers @ Nov 20, 2012 -> 06:48 AM) Well, there's this thing where he takes the ball and runs with it, and does it pretty well. You can't just look at his passing stats. Wow, great point! Never thought of that before. Not like 2 of the other QBs in contention don't run with it, with better passing stats. -

Enjoyable win all around. Looked very impressive, not that they'll shoot that hot every night. They came out and played hard, you could see the extra effort at both ends of the floor. That was a welcome change from the 2nd half of last season.
