QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Nov 12, 2012 -> 07:35 PM) Well you dont seem to understand why it would be more troubling for people to actually have made changes, then if no one could, so Im not going to bother explaining. How would I know? They are my friends that Ive known for years. So when 1 goes, "I was able to make changes" I dont think they are lying. Im not implying what you said, Im saying that its unfair he got to change his rosters, when the person he was playing against (not me) did not. If both had not been able to change, that would actually be more fair. Yeah its really idiotic, just like the Bears would be idiotic for wanting the NFL to make a ruling, instead of it being the Packers. Generally when you have a "commissioner" who is making rulings, they are impartial and they are not actually involved in the competition. Since you dont seem to understand "conflict of interest" it really makes no sense to keep talking. I'm not sure if you can read. How would Yahoo know who could and could not make chances. "Yahoo shows Soxbadger was able to get in at 11:38 to make changes." Yup. Btw, if everyone is so honest, why is this an issue? Your comparison to the Packers makes zero sense. Yahoo has nothing to do with making a ruling for your league on this. It's a website. So if Yahoo comes back and says "CANCEL EVERY RESULT" you'll be cool. If they come back and say "LEAVE EVERYTHING" you'll be cool. If they come back and say "MAKE THE CHANGES YOU WOULD HAVE MADE AND WE'LL RE-RUN RESULTS" you'll be cool. Yahoo doesn't run your league, your commissioner does. Unless you have some random Yahoo commissioner tool that I'm unaware of. The website didn't work. Figure it out amongst yourselves. You still haven't explained what you're looking for from Yahoo, and how it would actually make a difference.

QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Nov 12, 2012 -> 06:07 PM) Id like some information from yahoo. Like whether people were able to make changes or not. Because we have people who claim they made changes, and we have people who claim they were completely blocked. If people were blocked and other people made changes, that is completely different than "everyone was blocked at 11 am so it was fair." You and your league can do whatever you want. I just think that a lot of people out there are wondering what happened and would like information from yahoo so that they can make the correct decision on how the week should be handled. You seem to have definitively made that call so congrats, other leagues are trying to work it out because they dont think its so simple. LOL, you are ridiculous. Wondering what happened? Whether or not some people got in is irrelevant. It's a fact a lot of people couldn't. That can't be argued. They already sent an email and and update. What more do you need? It's not fair if ANYONE was blocked, not if some were and some weren't. If one person was affected by it, then it's unfair. Which is clearly the case. People aren't making things up. How would Yahoo know which individual owner was and was not able to get in? You're implying that everyone could get in and some people are using this as an excuse to change their roster. It should be fairly obvious what people's rosters would have looked like had they been able to get in. Or they are completely lying and you are in the wrong league anyway. Regardless, you looking to Yahoo go act like God and run your league is idiotic. You and your league or your commissioner are in a much better position to make decisions.
-
I still don't understand what you expect Yahoo to do. I'd rather have the commish/league members decide something than Yahoo. Quite frankly they can say whatever they want, our league isn't just going to blindly follow it. Again, anyone that claims they would have made changes...easily could have emailed the commish beforehand. If they were in that big of a panic, they would have done something, not just sit there and think "we'll just figure it out later."

Love the hair. And a tall guy with athleticism. Need a good 14 class. Good foundation so far in 13 to start to make some changes. -
QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Nov 12, 2012 -> 04:13 PM) Some people are claiming they could get in, just that it was really slow and had to keep forcing it through (haha). Anyways Im not doing anything in my league until its all sorted, this gives me pause: "And will update everyone on next steps for how to handle week 10" That's going to be up to your league, they'll instruct commissioners how to edit lineups etc. There's no way they can just say "nothing counts" or "everyone can make their own lineup changes retroactively." I'm not exactly sure what you're expecting on Yahoo's end, it's all within your league.
-
No one could get on during that window, so that person would be lying. If you had time to write an email, clearly you were at a computer/phone to change the lineup, and the site wouldn't allow it. As long as it's in before kickoff, another league member really wouldn't have a good argument against it.

QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Nov 12, 2012 -> 11:09 AM) The only answer is because weve never even discussed what happens in the event of a system wide yahoo failure. The real issue was not being able to access the site at all, so you couldnt do any research, add drop players. I just kept refreshing because I assumed that it was a temporary issue. Either way, I dont really care that much. I just think its an interesting situation. Who cares if it hasn't been discussed, it's a very easy fix. Who could argue against it? Site down, emailed commish/whole league beforehand, person gets those changes. I'm the commissioner of my league and would have done that without question. If it's after kickoff, obviously no dice. You care enough to email Yahoo to say to take away all results from this past week...
-
Badger, Why wouldn't you have just emailed your commissioner (or even the entire league)? "Hey, it's 11:00, I want to put in X for Y but I can't since Yahoo is down, can this be documentation that I am making this change? It's in before kickoff, etc." As a commissioner, that would work for me, you would be able to show the league the email and have that be the workaround for Yahoo being down. Not sure why you wouldn't have done this.

Calling all math people. Wife and I were going over probability stuff tonight off a random conversation. If something has a 1 in 9 chance of happening...what are the odds that it (the 1 time of out of 9) occurs in 3 out of the 4 times you do it? I realize if it's "what are the odds this happens 3 times in a row" it's (1/9) x (1/9) x (1/9). Is it just (1/9) x (1/9) x (1/9) x (8/9)?

QUOTE (TaylorStSox @ Nov 11, 2012 -> 03:41 PM) I'm starting to think Breaking Bad should have ended after season 4. I don't know if it should have ended, but there seemed to be an odd disconnect. Season 5 picked up and seemed random and also seemed to move really fast, it was entertaining so far but just odd.
-
For all of those that rec'd Breaking Bad over the summer, thanks. I recorded them all during that marathon, waited until early October to start, and finished up last week. I'd watch 3-4 at a time at certain points, it was addicting. Can't wait to watch the last episodes "live" next summer.

Lack of an article doesn't mean it isn't going on behind closed doors. You don't think Crean's able to control that, and make sure it's not going to happen before he proceeds? Come on now. -

QUOTE (He_Gawn @ Nov 11, 2012 -> 09:11 AM) Saw this coming. It'll all get worked out like it always does. I can already predict how this is going to play out. Rival fans will call foul now that Crean is oversigned Those fans will also say coaches and players are noticing and won't want to play at Indiana Oddly, Crean has a better grasp on scholarships inside the program than any of us It works out Rivals say that Crean is cutting kids Kid who leaves has nothing bad to say about Crean Indiana picks up another elite player Rival fans repeat cycle. Well of course it's going to work out. One way or another, guys will be gone and they'll have the right amount of scholarships out there. But "it works out" doesn't justify it or explain it. -
QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Nov 7, 2012 -> 08:51 PM) Is Scrubs even in syndication anymore? It used to be everywhere now I never see it. I took a few years off from watching it because I saw every episode like 100 times but lately I've definitely been wanting to watch it again. The irony of this post is great.

QUOTE (Jerksticks @ Nov 6, 2012 -> 10:00 PM) Lol cool, then don't use it. Do you feel better getting that snotty jab in there? Man, I'd cringe every time Dunn would be up, especially when we just needed some team ball, like a weak groundball to the right side, just some contact Adam. Any decent pitcher got him all year. To you, just another out. To me, rally death. Why can't I hate his style of baseball in peace? He f***ing sucks my Jerksticks eye test for 3-hole hitting. This has validity. I wish everything was just based on opinion...tough out, not tough out, good pitcher, bad pitcher. Who needs stats? Let alone advanced ones? They are so worthless. They don't actually present, you know, facts.

QUOTE (RockRaines @ Nov 3, 2012 -> 06:51 PM) All I needed today was Meyer to pull a sweater vest and sit on the ball. Instead the 3rd team ran the ball right down the field. IU has a chance to be in the conference title game, the question is why dont any of their fans know that? Pathetic. I thought Wanny was coaching Pitt there at the end, of course in ND fashion a couple of bounces (or flags) went their way. Should have smoked PItt anyway, they blow. That's all you needed but lets face it you were WAY off on how that game was going to go. Had no business being close to covering. Were beyond terrible. We tried to warn you... -
QUOTE (Iwritecode @ Nov 2, 2012 -> 04:31 PM) Given the choice between staying and dying or leaving and maybe having to replace a few material possessions, they pick the former. I don't get it. He had what was coming to him then, hard to feel bad. QUOTE (Tex @ Nov 3, 2012 -> 08:26 AM) It sounds easy to evacuate. Just leave and go somewhere. Now put that in realistic terms. You have less than $100 to your name and no car. Hell even with a car, how much gas will you buy? Where will you stay? And the problem just scales from there. Leave or possibly die? I'll figure out a way to leave.

QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Nov 2, 2012 -> 04:45 PM) Rios either. I didn't plan it that way, I was just posting pics. Ah, I thought it was separated for a reason. I would have argued with Rios (and possibly Dunn now) but gave benefit of the doubt. Couldn't you find a photo of him flipping a buffet table?

Not sure why Youk would be in the 2nd group.

QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Nov 2, 2012 -> 12:14 PM) Winter Classic: canceled IMO, Season: cancelled I just spent 45 minutes watching youtube videos of highlights and partial games at the Chicago Stadium. I'd do anything to be able to see just one more game there. Remember The Roar. -
QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Nov 2, 2012 -> 09:19 AM) You're not paying any attention, but again, that's what you do. No, I am, I read it clearly, until you tried to have it not be the same for Frank Thomas' walks, since he was a speedster. It's baffling how walks aren't valuable. Just tell him to swing at anything for the HR, getting on base is overrated. You should be in someone's front office.
-
Unless you are really really fast, walks don't mean anything. Got it.

QUOTE (RockRaines @ Nov 1, 2012 -> 06:48 PM) Because I think he's about as good as Braxton Miller and I dont consider either one of them the best player in college football. Its my opinion, you dont need to try and change it. The problem is that it's not exactly an opinion based in facts, to this point. The fact is that with his numbers and what his team has done, he's either leading the voting, or is right in the very top of the pecking order. Hell even Miller is up there. Would love to know what your list looks like.
