how would YOU fix the sox attendance woes?
IlliniKrush replied to ewokpelts's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE (SnB @ Oct 12, 2012 -> 03:20 PM) DISCLAIMER: I know this isn't going to happen any time soon. The Sox should move to the 'burbs. Let the cubs have the city, they already get all of the tourists and most of the younger city dwellers anyway. Focus your attention on families and easy accessibility. Not having your parking lots owned by the city would go a long way. Guy moves to the suburbs, wants to take the Sox with him. Talk about having your cake and eating it too. In all seriousness...moving to the suburbs would actually be really wise. Throw the team in the middle of Schaumburg, and you'd have a lot more young Sox fans. -
QUOTE (fathom @ Oct 12, 2012 -> 05:26 PM) Orioles insane decision not to hold on Teixeira might have cost them this game. Yeah, that made no sense. Not holding him at all, not even in the neighborhood.

Weird HR replay. From the "normal" angle it appears it's easily on the wrong side of the pole, and disappears behind it. Then the other angle makes it look like it nicks it...but again, if it nicked it, the original angle makes it seem like it would have nicked it on the backside of the post, which isn't possible.

QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Oct 12, 2012 -> 11:34 AM) That's depressing. Should have been watching opening night on nbc sports network last night. f*** everyone. -
QUOTE (fathom @ Oct 11, 2012 -> 10:51 PM) Tigers going to advance. Their pitching staff is pretty awesome right now. Hey, at least greg is happy. But wait I thought they had no chance in the playoffs? Even though the playoffs are completely random compared to other sports and all you have to do is get in.

Joe Girardi's father passed away, reports are he'll still manage tonight. Edit: TBS now saying he actually died last Saturday, when reports indicated he passed today.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Oct 11, 2012 -> 01:50 PM) The Reds were screwed when Cueto went down eight pitches into game one. Well except for the fact that they went up 2-0 in the series despite that.

QUOTE (fathom @ Oct 10, 2012 -> 10:41 PM) It was dumb for Drew to try to get to third with no outs, but he would have been safe if not for the stupid rule that you can block the base before you even catch the baseball. Um, what? He was out by 10 feet, regardless of what Cabrera was doing. BTW, if he would have blocked the base without the ball, it's obstruction. By the time Drew got to Cabrera and the base, Cabrera had the ball, so there's nothing there.

Best part is he was PH for ARod.

QUOTE (RockRaines @ Oct 6, 2012 -> 11:45 PM) Glad to know theft is within your bounds. When they get caught doing something you will rationalize it as not a big deal like everyone else. Outside of PSU and maybe USC SMU and tha U violations aren't something that taints victories. LOL. Stealing a laptop is on the same level as paying players and their families? Hey good for you then. Have you read what I posted already? No, I wouldn't rationalize anything they get caught for, but thanks for telling me what I would or would not do. The schools you mentioned, that's a lot of the stuff I was talking about, so I don't really get your point. -

QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Oct 6, 2012 -> 09:58 PM) How would it be tainted? Dee & Deron may have been paid, just like their opponents in the national championship game were? I'm sure that all of those 6 NBA draft picks on UNC were clean too. Luther Head was stealing from fellow students? Does that taint your Final Four run? Would your memory suddenly forget the elite 8 game vs. Arizona like it never happened? Doubtful. Stealing a laptop, not exactly crossing my line. It wouldn't be like it never happened, but it would sure change how I view that team. It'd be like knowing Frank took steroids now. Sure change how you look at him, no? That's just me. I guess I have too much pride in Illinois and am not about dirtying up the program to win. -

QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Oct 6, 2012 -> 09:50 PM) What does he have to gain in the NBA? Right now he is his own boss. He has his own pick of free agents every single year. His fanbase adores him even if they happen to have a bad season(which may never happen). He goes to the NBA, he has to listen to an owner, his roster is limited, he has to impress the corporate fanbase. Whats the point? Yup, zero reason to leave unless you're running from the NCAA (see Pete Carroll). -
QUOTE (bigruss22 @ Oct 6, 2012 -> 08:21 PM) It's not good, but you will get drunk. I'd rather drink it than Miller/Coors/Bud.

Bulls*** 3 points for Wisconsin. How does the ruling stand. Brutal. And a poor 15 yard penalty -

QUOTE (nitetrain8601 @ Oct 6, 2012 -> 12:16 PM) I'm the opposite. Honestly, if that's what we did, I'd be fine with it because of the entertainment and experiences it gives you. Yeah, I remember when we made the National Championship. Remember that big comeback against Arizona? Yeah, I remember that. Michigan fans remember the Fab Five, even if the NCAA and the university say they never existed. Those are memories that will last a lifetime as a sports fan. Whether Derrick Rose had someone else take his tests or Deron, Dee and Luther got paid off happened, not many people will remember or care about that. The memory would be nowhere near the same. -
QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Oct 5, 2012 -> 07:39 PM) GO ORIOLES! Also, I didn't see the play in Cards-Braves. I know it's under protest, so is it bad enough to make them replay? No as it was a judgment call
-
Really chipper end your career by loafing to first?
-
QUOTE (zenryan @ Oct 5, 2012 -> 07:23 PM) It is wrong. Good reasoning.
-
Correct. Its all dependent on position of the infielder. No one to appeal to its his call as he has best position.
-
The call cant just be made sooner. Its made when the requirements are met I.e. infielder there. The call can happen whenever.
-
Nothing will come from this protest.
-
QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Oct 5, 2012 -> 06:58 PM) Totally disagree, that was in left field. He wasn't camped under the ball at all He was under it. By the book its the right call.
-
QUOTE (IowanSoxFan @ Oct 5, 2012 -> 06:57 PM) Infield fly rule in the middle of the outfield. Interesting... Where the ball is doesn't matter actually.
-
It was the right call. Cards got a break.
