  1. BTW, Cabrera clearly tried to give a high five to the 3rd base ump as he came out of the dugout. I hate losing this division to these clowns.
  2. QUOTE (TitoMB @ Sep 27, 2012 -> 02:22 PM) It wasn't an error? Wasn't ruled so, no.
  3. QUOTE (TitoMB @ Sep 27, 2012 -> 02:19 PM) How is that even possible? Slow chopper to short, tried to bare hand it, missed it, ball goes bouncing to the outfield, no one is backing it up, Fielder immediately reads it and goes to 2nd.
  4. Didn't expect anything different. Not bad to come to the wire with a coach that has an 0-0 record here so far. It could mean some good things down the road. But man, would have been huge. Have fun playing at a school where no one gives a crap about basketball I guess. The hometown thing appears to be just too much here.
  5. Desperate times call for desperate measures. I'm in.
  6. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Sep 27, 2012 -> 10:50 AM) They have been in first place for over 120 days this season, and we are still in the mid 20's in attendance. The whole "if they were competing" thing doesn't really hold up either. Again, we're talking about this week in particular, not attendance throughout the year.
  7. QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Sep 27, 2012 -> 08:32 AM) This will be a f***in s***ty year if we don't win this. It'd be one thing to be beat by a hot team but to cough this thing up to another mediocre squad would be awful. Agreed. The narrative is already building for the "well no one expected them to contend this year anyway" and "it was a better year than we thought." Who gives a s***. Win the division. We don't follow the team to have a "better year than we thought." This year will go down as a painful one, not something to be remembered because they surprised by being in it so late.
  8. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Sep 27, 2012 -> 07:58 AM) Fans have had excuses to not go to the first 155 games. Why would the last 7 be any different? The whole point people are talking about here is that this is the last week in a pennant race, so you'd think it'd be higher. Those other games aren't the last week in a pennant race. If they were winning a lot more right now and it was a true fight to the finish, more would be out there.
  9. Hard to motivate the average fan to come to the ballpark tonight when they watched the team lost 6 out of the last 7 games. You look to tomorrow, and if you consider going to the game, it's 7 of 8 you've watched. The average fan/family is being pushed away by this.
  10. I see Jackson going to ND, so I'll be pleasantly surprised if it's different.
  11. Demetrius Jackson to pick between Illinois and Notre Dame, tomorrow 4pm on ESPNU.
  12. And somewhere out there thousands of people won/lost on that last play in GB/SEA game.
  13. Requests for new topics should have to be reviewed by a moderator or something. Wow.
  14. You didn't get it to me fast enough Steve, I deserve a refund. Thanks.
  15. QUOTE (whitesoxfan99 @ Sep 24, 2012 -> 11:08 PM) Meh. He intercepted the ball. It isn't his fault the refs made one of the worst calls in the history of sports and while knocking the ball down is common knowledge there have been a decent amount of hail marys completed off of batted balls the last couple of years between college and the NFL. Let's not be ridiculous here (but it's Soxtalk, so it has to be). Live speed that's a really tough call. Replay should be able to correct it. Apparently it's not allowed to in that situation.
  16. QUOTE (zenryan @ Sep 24, 2012 -> 11:05 PM) lost in all this is the GB not trying to knock the ball down. Knock it down and the game is over. Why go for the INT there? You mean like yesterday when Tennessee tried to knock it down yesterday?
  17. QUOTE (whitesoxfan99 @ Sep 24, 2012 -> 11:04 PM) I don't think that was an indisputable evidence issue. It sounds like if the refs rule there is simultaneous possession it is not reviewable even though there was clearly no simultaneous possession on that play. I was talking in general, but yeah. If that's the rule, that it's not reviewable...that's just stupid to begin with. Live speed, I can't blame the officials for not seeing that clearly. It was a clusterf***. This is why we have replay, to fix something relatively easy like this.
  18. I hate that instant replay is "indisputable evidence" to overturn. We're at the point with technology where the looks you get on replay, 99% of the time are better than what an official saw at game speed, from sometimes a s***ty angle. Unless you literally can't see anything, you should be able to review it and it shouldn't matter what the call on the field was. We've all seen calls where we're 90% sure of what happened but since it was ruled X on the field, it stays as X. That play, on replay, is an interception. But since it was ruled TD on the field, it stands. It's just stupid. I really wish they'd change the standard of proof for replay. There's no reason not to at this point.
  19. QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Sep 24, 2012 -> 09:42 PM) Veal for the save. Best LOOGY in the world, do your thing Donnie. Boone Logan just shook his head somewhere.
