  1. Great, one more option for him to use in a high leverage situation...it's like a shiny new toy, should break it out in the 7th tonight.
  2. Wow, 2 in the same week...one much too early...that's terrible. I hope he has a great game and it brings him something positive for those few hours.
  3. QUOTE (Baines3 @ Sep 14, 2012 -> 12:19 PM) Does anyone know who will be pitching for us Monday against the Tigers in the make up game? Floyd
  4. Same stuff, but the last line is the best. http://chicago.cbslocal.com/2012/09/14/rep...riend-disabled/
  5. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Sep 14, 2012 -> 09:12 AM) Would sale be in line for 163 if he moved back? I don't believe so. However having him pitch tonight gives him 2 starts during the next homestand, pushing him back gives him only one.
  6. QUOTE (kitekrazy @ Sep 14, 2012 -> 12:26 AM) See Strasburg. You also have to think about 2013,14,15,16. Last time I checked, Sale isn't coming off of Tommy John surgery. If you are that concerned with 2016, shut him down the next 3 seasons, he'll be nice and fresh.
  7. QUOTE (southsideirish71 @ Sep 14, 2012 -> 12:05 AM) The only one that looks to be "Butt Hurt" over this subject is you. You seem completely obsessed by Apple and feel the need to crawl out of the woodwork everytime Apple releases a new product to provide the same commentary. It would be one thing if you were just a tech fanboy however you just seem to be a hater. And its a hater of a brand for the sake of the popularity of the brand. Sure gets old, doesn't it.
  8. You can say that teams have a different mentality, but it's pretty hard to have momentum when baseball is a completely individual sport disguised as a team game.
  9. Extra rest for what? There's 3 weeks left. He's your best pitcher. You start him on normal rest every time unless he is injured or needs the rest. Every time you give him more rest, it's another start made by someone else that isn't nearly as good as him.
  10. QUOTE (justBLAZE @ Sep 13, 2012 -> 08:35 PM) Was there discussion to why Floyd was pulled after 70pitches last night? I was at the game. Just wondering. Short leash? No rehab start, probably around his max at that point. Couldn't expect him to go much longer.
  11. QUOTE (justBLAZE @ Sep 13, 2012 -> 08:32 PM) Sale tomorrow. Floyd vs Fister Monday . So skipping Liriano if that's the case.
  12. QUOTE (greg775 @ Sep 13, 2012 -> 08:23 PM) Thank God it got rained out. Now there's a chance we can do what happened before, win a series vs. Minnie and have Detroit get swept. If we can have a 3 game lead by Monday, that loss won't mean squat. Still no guarantees, but I feel better about going to Minnie with a one-game lead than a tie. If somehow we just win all three in Minnie and Detroit loses all three against whoever they are playing, I'd rather just forfeit Monday's game and get on with it. GO SOX!!! Um, what?
  13. Will be interesting to see if Detroit adjusts the rotation to throw Scherzer Monday. We also now have the option to skip the mystery 5th starter spot (presumably Liriano Saturday) and have everyone on normal rest...which would put Floyd Monday. If we don't adjust, Peavy.
  14. QUOTE (Swingandalongonetoleft @ Sep 13, 2012 -> 07:47 PM) That stuff tastes like leaded gasoline, but it's an excellent choice on a day that they face Verlander and the possibility of having lost 6 of the last 7 to the team chasing them. LOL, it's even worse than that.
  15. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Sep 13, 2012 -> 07:34 PM) Any updates? 800? 830? 900? Raining there, tarps on, radar doesn't look good...can't even guess on a time at this point.
  16. QUOTE (fathom @ Sep 13, 2012 -> 01:59 PM) It will be interesting, as you'd think neither team would want to pitch their main guy in poor conditions. Not even poor conditions, but having the delay in the middle and not having them come back. I think they don't start the game if there's rain around, and wait until they have the window. Not going to start to have it delayed a half hour later. QUOTE (fathom @ Sep 13, 2012 -> 02:39 PM) Yes, Sox control it. Once game starts, it's the umps. Well yes and no. They are in constant communication with the umpires and opposing manager to make the best decision, you aren't going to go preparing to start the game to have the umps let you know that as soon as you roll the tarp off, they are going to put it in a delay. It's really a joint decision using all information they have. Even in game, it's the umps call, sure, but you have Bossard coming out giving them updates on the radar and how much rain the field can take, etc, helping them figure out when to bring the tarp out or push through.
  17. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Sep 13, 2012 -> 02:45 PM) This person is coming from Wisconsin. Just park in the UC parking lot and pay the money. I didn't say park anywhere. The Red Top ones on Madison are separated by a fence, or are across the street. Park at the corner of Damen and Madison, there's a Red Top lot 20 feet from the UC lot. Cheaper, but much easier to get out of. And that one is closer to the UC than some of the official UC lots. Unless you go parking blocks upon blocks away, it's not dangerous. It's the equivalent of church parking at the Sox game, not exactly risky, just easier. He already has to get back to Wisconsin, I'm sure he doesn't want to sit in the lot an extra 45 minutes.
  18. They'll do everything they can to get it in, even if they play until midnight, especially if it's intermittent stuff. Neither team is going to want the game on Monday.
  19. QUOTE (HickoryHuskers @ Sep 13, 2012 -> 01:24 PM) I'm not sure how much UC parking costs, but there is a $5 lot at the Des Plaines blue line stop and then the fare is $2.25 each way. Getting there would be fine, but you don't really want to make that walk, or take that train, after that concert is over.
  20. QUOTE (pettie4sox @ Sep 13, 2012 -> 12:45 PM) How's the weather looking? I'm so nervous... I really don't want this game to get cancelled. weather.com hourly says precip chance right now: 7pm: 50% 8pm: 40% 9pm: 40%
  21. QUOTE (Y2HH @ Sep 13, 2012 -> 01:12 PM) Well, being a Thursday, you will have to deal with rush hour traffic, and there is almost no way around this... If you want to get there by 5pm, I'd leave at around 12:30pm-1pm to give yourself enough time counting rush hour. Coming from Wisconsin, the only real means you have to drive is via i90...take that to i290. i290 will bring you directly to the UC, there is an exit for that. The traffic may very well be bad, but it's your best direct route to the United Center. Park in one of the pay lots around the UC, and don't wander around that neighborhood. It's pretty safe right around the UC, but don't wander too far away from that. Check the traffic reports as you near Elgin, as you can take either 90 or 290 to get there. There's actually a sign right before you can make the decision to jump on to 290 from 90. Usually 290 is better, but you never know depending on the day. If you take 290 you can get off at Damen and go left, if you take 90 you get off at Ogden and hang a right, which takes you to Madison and go right. There's plenty of parking around the UC...but use one of the Red Top lots that are around there (they aren't the official UC lots). Will save you some money, but usually a LOT easier to get it out of. The really close UC lots will take you forever to get out of. If you get there plenty early and want to go eat or drink, walk east down Madison, you'll run into a lot of bars after a few blocks, and the walk is safe before or after.
  22. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Sep 13, 2012 -> 11:45 AM) Antonio Brown will struggle to score against his own defense, so go Michael Turner. Donald Brown is teh suck. I think Brown will be a decent RB2 option as the year progresses, finished well last year, getting all the carries now, and they may be able to actually throw the ball a little bit this year. Wouldn't take him as the option this week though.
  23. QUOTE (fathom @ Sep 13, 2012 -> 10:55 AM) Yes Unless they skip a start for Porcello or Fister and go to Scherzer on normal rest. Either way we'd take our chances.
