  1. I don't think I did. Plus he got a shot off just after the buzzer anyway. However, making it a one possession game when the game was absolutely over, due to cheerleader conduct, is ridiculous. Stranger things have happened - but that wasn't the main reason I was posting.
  2. Interesting end to the Louisville/Pitt game. OT, Louisville up 3, Pitt ball with under 10. They miss a layup, Louisville rebounds, make a couple passes, get a breakaway dunk to go up 5 with .5 left. Game over, right? After the dunk, the ball is lying on the court, a few of the Louisville male cheerleaders walk onto the court thinking it's over even though the clock clearly never ran out...one goes all the way to get the ball and throws it about 20 feet up in the air and spins around. TECHNICAL FOUL. Pitt makes the 2 shots, has the ball on the inbounds, but just not enough time to get off a 3 point attempt to tie the game. I wish that breakaway dunk somehow either tied it or put them up 1 or 2. Stupid f***ing cheerleaders.
  3. I get home to see Duke lost, Texas gave up 58 in the 2nd half to lose, and Arizona put up a whopping 49 points and lost. What weird day. Looks like all three Illini seniors showed up in the same game, how nice.
  4. Wait, some dude on Providence dropped 52 tonight against ND? Whoa
  5. I started to do some of the exercises for that Spartacus workout on Sunday night and I'm still sore from it in my legs. I didn't do the minute on 15 second break thing yet. Part of it was probably not knowing what weights do use and how many reps to "try" but I think it worked some muscles I didn't know I had.
  6. QUOTE (fathom @ Feb 22, 2011 -> 09:51 PM) Illini fans are in love with the "back-up quarterback" syndrome this year. They keep asking to see more of Leonard, Head, and Bertrand...but after they see them play, they realize why they're not getting a lot of playing time. But yes, there's way too much talent to being player as poorly as they are. Yeah, I don't get that whole backup thing. I was shocked to see Head starting. That being said, at least today he actually played somewhat well, sometimes was by far the best defensive player on the floor. And offensively, until his ridiculous open bricked three, he knew enough to get rid of the ball, go run around and cut, etc. At least he didn't say f*** it I'm out here, I might as well take a bunch of shots. I know that's not exactly a glowing review, but yeah. QUOTE (whitesoxfan99 @ Feb 22, 2011 -> 10:01 PM) Davis has been a solid player, my problem with him has always been that I think he could have been great and I am generally harder on guys that I think actually have a lot of talent. The lazy passes, constantly missing wide open 3 footers at inopportune times, generally lackadaisical attitude, inconsistent effort, etc. is what has driven me nuts the last 3 years. The thing is as DMac and Richardson have disappeared the 2nd half of Big 10 play, Davis has for the first time in his career given consistent effort on D and on offense and has finally been making far fewer stupid plays. It's gotten to the point where if he makes an open 3 footer, I'm ecstatic, because as he goes up to take it, I fully expect him to miss it, every single time. That's sad.
  7. I didn't expect to win, but when you shoot that hot from three for the first 3/4 of the game or so (I believe we were 10/12 at one point), you would think you'd be in it. Bottom line is this team can't get to the line, they can't get in the paint, so sometimes even if they shoot well it's not enough. I will say this though, OSU seemed really good at denying dribble penetration. The lane was always clogged. OSU played really well, let's give them credit. Very efficient offensively. I have to ask though, why does Lauderdale still start? Actually, why the hell does he play at all? He dunks the ball once in a while and that seems like that's about all he does. Craft is super valuable, I don't see why Lauderdale takes any minutes away from him, and starts over him. Hell even that Thomas kid seems alright sometimes. OSU is 5x better when Craft is out there and he can drive and play shut down defense. Offensively the lineup of Sullinger-Buford-Diebler-Lighty-Craft is really, really hard to stop. They beat you 20 different ways.
  8. It'd be fine if they were making that much money if the majority of teams could pay players that money. I don't care if guys make 100 million a year if that's what the market calls for - i.e. all teams have that much money to play with because revenue for all teams and the league is high. The problem is that only a few teams can afford the best players on the market. It's getting ridiculous - some teams have almost no chance of competing, even if they scout correctly, develop players, and sign good value guys. No other sport has that disparity anymore. His interview was spot on.
  9. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Feb 16, 2011 -> 07:38 PM) Another pet peeve of mine is that we don't have the workout forum anymore. It's like, just when I start working out, it shuts down (and yes, I realize it's been shutdown for a while now). I spent like 5 minutes looking for it earlier. Didn't realize it went away. Now the pet peeve thread is the workout forum.
  10. The Spartacus workout looks interesting. I might try that out soon. I've been working out for several months doing the same stuff - some cardio and some weights. I use a lot of the machines at my gym, and a few free weights. I never really worked out in my life up until this point, so without any real training, I've kind of made up my own workout and adjusted it or mixed it up as I see fit as I go on. Is using a lot of machines bad? Should I be doing more or only free weights? Do you guys do cardio and weights in the same day every time, or do one or the other certain days? I usually do both. Do you do cardio before weights, vice versa, or mix it up? I am not looking to bulk up a ton - just stay in shape, add some muscle, stay healthy - I don't need to focus on losing any weight at all. Rock/others I'm interested in some of the stuff you might present here.
  11. QUOTE (Brian @ Feb 13, 2011 -> 05:56 PM) All the Illini fans here went to the school and I understand their passion. I'm going through the same frustration with my alma mater. But it isn't the refs fault McCamey is mailing it in or that Tisdale is an unathletic black white hole. Fixed
  12. Sweet 2nd half effort guys. Purdue made some shots, but the defensive effort was worse than something you'd see at a local YMCA. Here's the lane, please take it...and if you miss the shot, we'll let you have another chance because we're nice guys like that. Demetri McCamey, thank you not showing up to yet another game. Your season can be summed up by your one handed missed dunk. It really is crazy how far he's fallen. It's pretty sad that on any given night usually only 1/3 of the seniors will contribute. We only stayed in the game because our sophomores put the team on their backs. That's one bright spot going into next year I guess. I still worry about DJ, but maybe he's coming around.
  13. Yeah, you really shouldn't rush the court there Also chanting overrated was stupid. They were the only undefeated team and clearly deserved to be ranked where they were. By definition, they were not overrated.
  14. QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Feb 5, 2011 -> 01:32 PM) There's a reason. He was talking about McCamey's fall off. http://sports.espn.go.com/chicago/news/story?id=6114222
  15. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Feb 11, 2011 -> 04:47 PM) Turco in net for the first time vs. Dallas tonight. Hossa out with the flu. I've been trying to scoreboard watch for the Hawks playoff chances, but there are too many damn teams in the race! Unless someone is playing the East or Edmonton, I'm not even sure who to root for anymore. Root for no OT games.
  16. QUOTE (dasox24 @ Feb 1, 2011 -> 05:45 PM) Can't wait for tomorrow! National Signing Day is one of my favorite sports days of the year. For me, it's bigger than the Super Bowl (unless, of course, the Bears were playing). It's so overhyped, and it's turned into a ridiculous side show for these kids who haven't accomplished anything outside of a high school game. I'm with Herbstreit on this.

    QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Feb 7, 2011 -> 12:04 PM) I think I misunderstood the scope of which your post touched. My apologies. Yeah, by people I didn't mean all. I should have added a word or two, I posted it too fast/brief. Sorry. I just meant there are some that do it. I know a lot of people do enjoy coffee.
  18. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Feb 7, 2011 -> 10:38 AM) Iowa...2 in a row!!! Big deal, you beat Indiana...everyone beats Indi......f***.
  19. I've thought about this all day and I still can't figure out my favorite play out of these three gems: Down 3, a terrible close out on a Thompson missed three, give up the easy offensive board, let Thompson roam free after the shot, give him another crack at a 3, which he drains, down 6. Down 4, get a steal in your own paint involving a NW player who fell in the paint, Richardson dribbles it up like no one is behind him, gets it stripped, leads to a Thompson made 3, down 7. Down 4, Brandon Paul "intentionally" fouls Thompson with about 15 seconds left on the shot clock after he came up hobbling (but guarded the whole possession until then). Thompson hits both free throws, down 6. He comes off the floor and Weber says "why did you foul?" We have to be one of the dumbest teams in the nation.
  20. QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Feb 5, 2011 -> 09:50 PM) I usually hate not going out on weekends but I gotta admit, sitting at home watching the Bulls+UFC 126, drinking a few beers and eating chips and salsa ain't too bad. And hopefully you lived through it. Since it was only 9:50 when you posted, you still may have caved and went out.

    QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Feb 5, 2011 -> 11:19 AM) Well, you're wrong. I know it's hard to comprehend that people can have different tastes than your own, but such a concept does exist. NO YOU'RE WRONG!!!11!!!!1 Are we allowed to voice opinions on this board? LOL There are definitely people who hold their Starbucks for show. I'm clearly not the only one that thinks that either.

    Coffee does suck. I feel like people drink it/hold it more "for show" than to really drink and enjoy it.
