BTW, 24/7 Penguins Capitals on HBO has been fantastic.

QUOTE (The Critic @ Dec 31, 2010 -> 12:01 PM) I don't like either guy or either team, so I have no interest. And technically, there are two outdoor games this year (the Heritage Classic between the Canadiens and Flames in February). Well you are missing great players and great hockey, but to each his own. The 2nd outdoor game isn't hyped at all, and there's only one new year's day, as long as they keep that going, it's good.

QUOTE (3E8 @ Dec 31, 2010 -> 09:50 AM) If you love Blue Moon, and are still waiting to try Hoegaarden, prepare yourself for a revelation. You should not have too much trouble finding it. I had Hoegaarden for the first time a few weeks ago, and I think it's now my favorite beer. It's awesome. Didn't realize it was actually somewhat popular.

QUOTE (The Critic @ Dec 31, 2010 -> 10:22 AM) Okay by me, I don't need to see another Crosby/Ovechkin televised lovefest anyway. It's one of the best battles in sports. The series 2 years ago was nothing short of absolutely epic. Plus, the winter classic is awesome since they have kept it at one game per year. It's not like it's the Favre love fest where the love isn't deserved.

QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Dec 29, 2010 -> 11:28 PM) Ok, I'm calling BS. IF everyone expected them to route, why was the spread in Vegas less than a field goal? And if Mizzu would route Iowa, they must be one hell of a team. No team routed Ioaw and that includes Wisconsin and Ohio State. Honestly Jason I don't know, and someone posted about that earlier. I don't think I was the only one surprised by that line. But I don't like trying to figure out lines and have that be a basis for quality of team, I'd rather look at records and watch teams play. No team routed them, but on the other hand that doesn't make them very good. And if you want to talk close losses...close wins - IU dropped a pass or that would have been a loss, too. And anyone who loses to Minnesota is clearly not very good (yes, that includes Illinois). They had talent this year, they underachieved though. -

QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Dec 29, 2010 -> 11:18 PM) Real f***ing good would be a #12 team in the country. You give it up. Iowas is a top 25 team just as Missouri is a top 15 team. In my definition, a top 15 team is real f***ing good. And no, Iowa did not have a very good record, but they are a good team. Great team, absolutely not. Well Mizzou was 12 before losing to an unranked team. Still really f***ing good? No. Iowa might now be ranked after this, but it's still not a good loss for Mizzou by any means. Everyone expected them (this includes some Iowa fans I know, but not you) to win comfortably. Bolded is a complete oxymoron. I don't want to go all Lovie Smith here, but you are what your record says you are. -

QUOTE (hitlesswonder @ Dec 29, 2010 -> 11:10 PM) "blown away" was hyperbolic....should have said that if IL had shot a more typical 40ish% from 3 that Iowa definitely would have won. IL seems like a very 1-dimensional jump-shooty team. Of course, if they give Wisconsin a game I'll have to revise my opinion.... And if they shoot 40% against UIC and Mizzou, they probably win both those games. So you can say they are one-dimensional if you want, but if you are going to call them lucky threes to beat Iowa, you have to call them unlucky threes to lose to Mizzou and UIC. You can't have it both ways. And there's a difference between open threes and contested threes. I don't have the numbers, but obviously you make a lot more wide open threes than you do with a guy right on you. Creating those looks is part of an offense, especially the motion offense. Illinois did a lot of this in 05, and I wouldn't call that team lucky.* *Undoubtedly someone will take this as me comparing this team to the 05 team, which I am not doing, I am just talking about the motion offense and the tendency to shoot a lot of 3's. So here's my disclaimer. -

QUOTE (hitlesswonder @ Dec 29, 2010 -> 10:34 PM) Illinois got on a lucky hot streak from three, or else the game wouldn't be close -- Iowa would have blown them away. Illinois is the most overrated team I have seen this year. They simply are not good. Wisconsin, one of the most underrated teams out there, should rip them apart. LMAO. That is all. -

Illini cruise past Baylor. Very nice W. Too bad next year's team might be minus our best offensive player and our two best defensive players to the NFL draft. Big 12, thanks for playing against the Big Ten so far. -

QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Dec 29, 2010 -> 05:36 PM) Maybe because that Iowa club had lost all 5 of its games (4 of which were to top 25 caliber teams) by less than 7 points in each game and in 4 of them, a late drive cost them the game. Maybe because Iowa is a loaded team with a good amount of NFL talent. There is a reason Iowa was playing the #12 team in the country and there was a reason they weren't huge underdogs. Vegas knows this squad is talented. Oh, and Illini fans knocking mizzu is sorry. This Missouri team was very good. If you want to tell me that they aren't a top 12 team, go right ahead and show me proof. Jason, please give it up already. Iowa was not very good this year, I don't care how much they lost by in each game. It's not like they even looked good last night, either. Could Iowa have been good? Sure. However, they were the biggest disappointment in the Big Ten this year. They started out the season ranked 9th. Also, I'm not really knocking Mizzou, they are pretty decent, but they are not really f***ing good, or whatever you think they are. I think you are trying to make last night's game into the BCS championship. Mizzou is really f***ing good, Iowa is really f***ing good, it was practically the championship I guess. -

QUOTE (bmags @ Dec 29, 2010 -> 04:45 PM) Big Ten fans definition of really good teams end at their conference. LOL. If you are going to argue, at least post something that makes sense. I don't see you defending Mizzou being a really f***ing good team, either. -

QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Dec 29, 2010 -> 02:05 PM) I'll take my win and the fact that they had the lead the majority of the game. Coker setting Iowa's single game rushing record too!!! Mizzu is a f***ing really good team though. I'll say that much. I don't know what your definition of a "f***ing really good team" is, but in my world, they aren't. Last night emphasized that point. -
QUOTE (Chet Kincaid @ Dec 29, 2010 -> 03:13 PM) Bernstein asked him straight forward questions about the damage that has been done to the clubhouse, and all he basically said was "well everyone is entitled to their opinion". Yeah and he doesn't think it's a big deal and doesn't hurt the trust factor because there have been a million things and he hasn't talked about all of them. That is such flawed logic. What he doesn't get is that it only takes one of this magnitude to cause the damage, no one is looking at what you haven't talked about.
-
I just edited my post above. Listening to him, this kid just doesn't get it. He wants to be important/thinks he's so important because he got to grow up in a clubhouse, and won't stand for anyone saying something negative about his dad or "my ball club." I found that particularly ridiculous. The whole thing will be on 670thescore.com soon, so I would go have a listen.
-
Oney's on the Score now, says he probably shouldn't have said everything he said. In hindsight he would have not said a couple of the things he said. Says he did it because he "needed to be put in his place." Doesn't understand the damage it can do to his dad and/or the team. He truly thinks he is defending his dad/family. Doesn't like the "perception" others might have about Ozzie if people say things. He kind of thinks it's OK because he's seen/heard "a million things" in the clubhouse and only "this one minor incident" has come out of him. Believes is was kind of his job to "stand up for his manager and his ballclub." Standing up for what he believes in. Says players should take the high road. He doesn't get the damage it can do, and says everyone else doesn't understand the damage it has done to his family. Doesn't think it will be an issue to Bobby and people are only talking about it because there's nothing going on right now, and it will blow over. Doesn't think anything will come of it this season, there won't be any problems.

QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Dec 29, 2010 -> 06:34 AM) Maybe if you or Steve actually leave your house on NYE and buy me a few with the millions of dollars you guys make. On topic though, I've only tried like 4 of these so far, I have a lot of work to do apparently. And I assume Keystone is going to be number 1? I think we'll both be leaving our places that night, however neither of us have said million nor want to agree to buy you "a few" because to you that probably means 17, not the 3-4 it would mean to "normal" people. **************************** I have a lot of work to do here too. This thread is great. It took a while to get it going but it was well worth the wait and it is a great list idea. It's very beneficial. I look forward to walking into Binny's and having an idea of what to grab. There's just so many options, and I usually have no idea what to try. I appreciate everyone's contributions and follow-up postings.

QUOTE (knightni @ Dec 28, 2010 -> 10:37 PM) I think that I may throw some more onto the list tonight. I think that having the list right before New Years Eve is actually a good idea. I don't know, it almost sounds like a challenge to Rowand44 to drink one of each New Year's Eve if you do that. We don't want to kill him.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Dec 27, 2010 -> 08:42 AM) Even if he is today, there is no reason he can't improve on that in the next four months. There is a reason, his shoulder surgery. Far from a guarantee you get previous velocity back. 83 is just so far off - my point is that it's not a miss for the Cubs. I wouldn't want the Sox throwing 3 mil at him.
-
QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Dec 26, 2010 -> 04:26 PM) Rangers are about to sign Brandon Webb. Could be a huge coup if he's healthy. Easy to forget this guy was one of the top 10 pitchers in baseball just two years ago. Isn't he throwing like 83mph? I don't know why anyone would really want him except for the lowest of contracts. I wouldn't consider that a "miss" for the Cubs, or any other team for that matter.

QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Dec 20, 2010 -> 08:24 PM) Right I get that some people unnecessarily hate Brett Farve, would anyone care how many times they called Walter Payton a warrior? The guy earned it, for better or for worse. He is out there playing tonight injured, in s***ty conditions for a crappy team. There are plenty of NFL players who would have been sitting on the sidelines next to AP collecting a paycheck. Ive never been a Farve fan, but the unnecessary hate is actually making me wonder what people's problem is. Say what you will but Ive been watching the same telecast and I havent noticed 1 comment that wouldnt be said about guys like Brady, Manning, Aikman, Elway or whomever else is the flavor of the minute, day or week. I mean I would never have believed Id defend Farve, but that is how ridiculous its become. Because he's been a dbag for the past several years. Everyone's sick of his dramatic LOOK AT ME act. Period. Maybe he's done now.
