QUOTE (RockRaines @ Oct 1, 2010 -> 05:45 PM) Real nervous about the Illinois game tomorrow, smells like a trap game to me, and I think former OSU commit Justin Green plays a large part in it. Lou Holtz? Is that you? -

QUOTE (Rex Hudler @ Sep 26, 2010 -> 06:42 PM) I hope Saturday night was the last time I ever watch a game at Boise. We were watching in a bar and you couldn't see the Boise players in their blue unis on that stupid turf. Eastern Washington now has a red field. PLEASE tell me this is not going to become a trend!!! ...we totally need a bright orange field. -
Love me some Friday Night Lights, even if Brian and I are the only ones watching it. Now that I have DirecTV, I don't have to wait until the spring, which is nice. Anyone still watching "The League?" It's off to another good start in season 2.

Just found out I'll be umpiring a HS Varsity All-Star Game at U.S. Cellular Field in a couple weeks. Sweet.

QUOTE (dasox24 @ Sep 20, 2010 -> 02:16 PM) What do you not get about what I'm saying? For the 2nd time, I never said the kid should lie to the NCAA. But, what is "sketchy" is how the picture came out - no one on Tennessee's side took it. Therefore, it was Craft's picture and he (or his Dad) turned it into the NCAA. That's low. Just go to OSU and do your thing. Don't try to get another school in trouble. He's like the tattle-tale everyone hates in grade school. It looks like he went out of his way to tell the NCAA about his illegal visit. Let's say the picture was some random person's and the NCAA discovered it somehow. Then, if the NCAA came to him and asked about the picture, I wouldn't expect him to lie. But that doesn't seem to be the case based on what we know right now. The irony here is just awesome. -

QUOTE (dasox24 @ Sep 11, 2010 -> 11:17 AM) Yeah, I'm not too worried. Bruce Pearl is the man regardless. Plus, you've got to be kidding yourself if you don't think cheating happens everywhere... even Illinois. He had too much contact with recruits - not the worst thing that could happen. At least he isn't paying players. Also, I grew up a die-hard Illinois fan, but get over it. The Pearl/Illinois thing happened almost 20 years ago. The man? Until he gets fired. Then he can go shirtless to the women's and men's games. Too much contact with recruits, maybe not the worst thing that could happen. Lying to the NCAA? Pretty close. -

QUOTE (T R U @ Sep 7, 2010 -> 04:07 PM) You sure about that? I could have sworn that Va Tech was favored.. As of Thursday Boise was favored by 2.5, so I assume they were still favored Saturday QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Sep 7, 2010 -> 05:47 PM) This you just gotta stop with. It's not Boise's fault that they can hardly get any bcs teams on their schedule. They gotta take whatever the f*** they can get. Yes and no. Boise would have to go play elsewhere, as no one wants to go to Boise. But I'm sure there's teams that would be OK playing them at home. Style points are really huge the rest of the way for them, whether that's fair or not. They need to destroy teams. Close wins of any kind will be terrible for them, and give them no shot over a 1 loss team. -

Great game last night. But I have to point this out - you know what annoyed me last night? Musburger playing the underdog card all game. Boise goes up early, and after 1 quarter it's "are you shocked America?" Boise scores the TD to go ahead and it's "and Cinderella is alive!!!!" WTF? Um, they are ranked #3 and are actually FAVORED in the game. On the road, mind you. First of all, realize who's playing in the game and the circumstances surrounding it. Second, don't cater the broadcast to the never-watches-college-football-but-just-have-happened-to-tune-into-this-game crowd. Most of us watching last night are knowledgeable fans who knew Boise St was legit (regardless of the argument still going on here), knew everything about the teams, and weren't shocked to see some blue and white team with broncos on their helmet looking formidable aganist a "name" team. It happened multiple times, and it was just really taking away from the broadcast. He's so much better than that, usually. -
QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Sep 3, 2010 -> 08:18 AM) I agree it needs to be solved going forward. I don't agree with the idea (and I don't think you said you did either) that they should be retroactively canceling deals that were previously approved. No, I don't, and I think they are using it as leverage to get some change accepted. Though I guess at an extreme, they legally could use some verbage in the CBA to retroactively void them. So it's a mess. Since the CBA isn't up, they are proposing to the NHLPA to have the cap hit for future contracts not count seasons that have the player ending up 40 or older. The hit would be the average of the years prior to that. They are also proposing that the cap hit on 5+ year contracts be the average of the 5 highest paid years. They'd "grandfather" the current contracts in. The above 2 stipulations seem pretty reasonable.

QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Sep 2, 2010 -> 08:42 AM) I dare you, NHL. I dare you to shun your largest and most-growing fan base that lead to the highest-rated Stanley Cup Final in decades. The whole front-loading, retirement problem needs to be solved, regardless of if it has to do with a precious Blackhawks player or not. It's getting ridiculous.

I don't mind the general idea of icing the kicker, but at some point it shouldn't be possible anymore. Having 3 kicks in the air with 1 counting is just stupid. At some point everyone should know the kick is about to happen, and nothing can be done by the defense to stop it. -

Well I immediately noticed the clock was still at :03, so I had a feeling that happened even though you couldn't see or hear anything, and then no one looked like they were prepping for overtime. I hate situations where a kick is off and it doesn't count for anything, whether it was good or not. It's not exciting by any means. It's stupid, anti climatic and confusing, at best. -

I wish NFL and college would change the whole timeout .1 before the ball is snapped rule. It's just stupid. Once everyone's set and the ref puts the ball in play, there should be no more timeouts in those situations. -

QUOTE (RockRaines @ Sep 1, 2010 -> 07:53 PM) I hope Michigan gets back up there though when DickRod is gone since he's such a douche. Its good for the conference if they do. I still think its heavily weighted towards one side. And I'm glad its not for bball as well since I guess that doesnt make sense, especially since the OSU side would be deadly. And i think you are underestimating the OSU/michigan game quite a bit. We ALL care about that game, especially it being the last game of the schedule. In all honesty, if OSU goes 1-12 and that 1 win is against UM, its a good year. That's meatball "if the bears go 2-14 and they beat the packers, it's awesome" talk that I know you don't truly believe Rock, you're way better than that as a sports fan. There's no way OSU fans are happy if that happens. I'm not underestimating the matchup - but what I'm saying is that if Michigan turns into a mediocre program, the rivalry won't exist. It's not a rivalry when one team never wins. But I think we both believe they'll get back to a good to great program, similar to where Nebraska is back to, and the game will still have huge meaning and the conferences will be pretty fair, all things considered. They won't keep them for basketball, don't need it. If they did though, MSU would house their division, they may not even lose a game in the division some years.
